The effort to convert some classic maps from other shooters is great, but I'm wondering if there isn't some specific reason why they can't just go into the game itself and pump up the enemy encounters to be bigger and badder. It would essentially address my biggest gripe with the mod in concept, which is that Half-Life is not Doom; it is meant to immerse the player and be believable, with a good amount of puzzle solving and platforming to mix things up. If the game is going to be a crazy action game, it really needs to be cut up and made into one. I think the way this review had to be edited demonstrates exactly what I am saying, since anyone who has played Half-Life knows that these are some of the game's more memorable combat encounters and that there aren't actually all that many more besides them that would take advantage of all this added carnage. Letting the player skip the intro is a good start, but there needs to be more.

Hit detection on barnacles is non-existent with bullets (Melee works), houndeyes die with 6 shells on EASY, WHY?! The only way to play with minimal crashes is on the Xash3D engine. It crashes on steam because the autosave system is bugged to shit. The Glock no-longer has its 100% accuracy and the pythons feel like 97%. The Desert Eagle Still Has its 90% like in OF (You can also duel-wield them). Game is pretty solid and the fact that (very rarely) the guards can spawn with RPGs is amazing.
I just tried to play this mod. But the fuckin shit is impossible they have so much damn health and there's no ammo. A shotgun blast doesn't 1 hit a head crab wtf
Okay, this definitely seems like an upgrade from the previous version. Seems to have a better idea of what it's doing as opposed to merely trying to copy Brutal Doom. I look forward to seeing these issues ironed out. And while perhaps a full campaign recreation of those games in the half-life engine might be a bit much, I would not say not to, perhaps, recreations of Knee-Deep in the Dead, the starport "episode" of Doom 2, Dimension of the Doomed, and I'm actually not sure where to draw a divider for Q2...

the reason for your crashing i suspect would be half-life's default edicts value, in the launch options add this command -num_edicts 8192 if you still find yourself to crash you can add to the value, for example to get the number of edicts i'm suggesting i multiplied 1024 by 8, if you need more multiply it by 9 or 10.
I really didn’t play Half Life 1 all that much and all though i could admire what it did for the genre and enjoyed my time playing it, i never felt like coming back and back. Playing this mod though... was one of the most enjoyable FPS experiences I’ve ever had and i will most definitely get this mod for my new PC.
If you play it on Xash3D it almost never crashes. It made it way more playable once I moved over to it. You also get the old WON version menu when you use xash.

I didn't repeat much, I just used a couple of shots from the montage out of the montage. There's actually really not all that much combat in Halflife when you break it all down, so it is kinda hard to use.
