Thanks for all your tips! I’m playing the glockenspiel and triangle part for the concert band arrangement of sorcerers apprentice tomorrow for a concert, and this video is very helpful, especially for the waterfall section. Thank you!
This fellow possesses a phenomenal amount of skill. I cannot imagine how anyone could rapidly hit the right metal bars with the speed and accuracy with which he does it. It seems impossible that a human being could do this. I am amazed.
Thanks for the presentation! Practicing, I also like to "swing" -play as 1st and 3rd notes of triplets- the 'waterfall' section. This helps build speed as you're putting it together.
Nice explanations. I think Dukas wrote with articulations because originally the instrument was jeu du timbres which was with keyboard (metal bars heated by small metall balls)played in a piano way, so they do all this different articulations. This instrument was similar to celesta but with metall balls instead of felt hammers. Latter was out of use and we started playing it on the modern glockenspiel, but now there are some brands they do this new glockenspiels with keyboard.
Thanks for the very thorough rundown- very informative indeed. However I have to know what compelled you to put that (totally out of context) mask music underneath your comments- it totally ruined the learning experience for me. Best Vibes, Mo’.

What is your approach to the trill in terms of rolls speed, and when to stop it? Also, what is your reasoning behind mallet selection?
Please do Scherezade!!!!
