When I first heard this I enjoyed the beat but when I red the lyrics I got slapped hard and overall amazing seeing him perform this in the NFL Halftime Show
Yeah I was pretty into the weekend after the hills was played everywhere then I kinda never heard of him again and now just remember how amazing all his old shit was. New stuff is so impressive to see that he hasn't changed much from the first sing released in this channel to how he sounded with his set at the super bowl.
Damn this version is so much more raw and uncut than the one on Trilogy. The sound is so much better on this version, you feel the ruggedness and grind of his life more
As a lover of post punk and synth, this song does great service to goth music. This track incorporates the musical style and post punk beats of the scene, even sampling directly the lyrics of goth icon Siouxsie Sioux herself. This is awesome.
It's more Industrial than Goth. The Glass Table Girls part had Nine Inch Nails' Closer sampled into the music. (Unless I'm stupid and I don't realize that Industrial music and Goth music are the same thing.)
Saw him in concert for Kiss Land. He played this song and on the first sentence the entire crowd screamed it with him. Best concert I have ever attended. Only artist who sounds even better live.
I'm not an OG I started from blinding lights but when I heard all his other songs....and I thought.how tf didn't I hear any of this legend's songs before .... I'm so thankful that I did listen to them.... This man is the greatest of our generation....and man these old songs slap so hard...i am obsessed with this man and his music. XO FOREVER.
same here. I knew him from can't feel my face and the hills but after hearing after hours i finally got into all his old stuff and holy fuck i'm in love. if it wasn't for all these mixtapes i wouldn't be such a diehard fan rn.
Siouxsie & The Banshees is the elixir sustaining the first half of the Happy House here. Haha...Saw them in concert "back in the days"... Abel using a Siouxsie track sample as the core of this track was wonderful & nostalgic. That, and alluding to the Cocteau Twins ('Heaven or Las Vegas') really had me thinkin', "This guys sonic landscapes..." 🎼🎶🎧🎛🔊 ...and a lotta folks will never know...
I remember hearing this for the first time in my hallway in high school on newly released pandora and everyone told me it was weird and moody 😂 ten years later I’m married and screaming when this plays at the Super Bowl
Just bought Trilogy today and had this song on repeat for hours. I can't get enough of it. This goes down as one of my faves. I have 5 of his albums and ONLY listen to the weekend in my car. @@KaylaSalasidis They really don't know but it was 1980 my daughter played it and I knew I knew the song just couldn't place it then bingo! Siouxsie and the Banshees some people in their 50's might remember it 😂
Heard the "WOAAAAA WOAAAAA OH OH" in their happy house song just now and knew that was a sample of a song I heard before but I couldn't put my finger on it, found my way here. Glad to see ppl giving them their flowers for being a huge inspiration for this song sonically.
@@burntnikesock212 I’m ac so happy some people appreciate the og artist that was sampled! I actually hate how artists like the weekend don’t credit them over UA-cam and whatnot. Like he’s sampled so many other goth artists and none are getting credit😭
It's amazing when you look back at how much this guy has influenced the r and b scene. Even with the so many amazing songs to come out that have been influenced by him, when I hear songs like these ones and the zone I still get transported to some other world where a rare few others can. @John Smith brooooo listen to Kissland if you haven’t already, it is a true masterpiece and criminally underrated
Welcome xotwod
Always better late than never. Welcome! XO 💜🎶
I wonder how many people are gonna look into his old music now that he played it at the super bowl
Yeah I was pretty into the weekend after the hills was played everywhere then I kinda never heard of him again and now just remember how amazing all his old shit was. New stuff is so impressive to see that he hasn't changed much from the first sing released in this channel to how he sounded with his set at the super bowl.
I heard this at the Superbowl and I went through some of his older songs from like 2015 backwards. Absolutely fantastic
alot bro
@@olly7155 I’m glad you like his older music 😌
that is exactly what i did
THIS IS A HAPPY HOUSE 😩😩
Thank you for sampling one of the biggest goth icons in music history
Damn this version is so much more raw and uncut than the one on Trilogy. The sound is so much better on this version, you feel the ruggedness and grind of his life more
I disagree the bass on this is mixed like shit lmao
His voice is way too quiet in this one
nah the Trilogy version is on another level
Yeah I was like wtf this does not sound good. I can now see why Fantano didnt like the production
As a lover of post punk and synth, this song does great service to goth music. This track incorporates the musical style and post punk beats of the scene, even sampling directly the lyrics of goth icon Siouxsie Sioux herself. This is awesome.
YES
Beautifully written. One of the few people who understand where weeknd gets his influences
It's more Industrial than Goth. The Glass Table Girls part had Nine Inch Nails' Closer sampled into the music. (Unless I'm stupid and I don't realize that Industrial music and Goth music are the same thing.)
It's garbage , the only good thing is the sound from the original.
@@barriniho This defined a whole genre, ain't no way it's garbage
Siouxsie and the banshees sample, amazing!
12 years ago today is CRAZYYY. The memories this track/mixtape has is incredible. xo FOREVER
Remember when he used to be our little secret?
Shelah Haze yessssss tears
Miss those days
God! That feels like ages ago🤦🏾♂️....
The good old days😭
Feels like it was decades ago wtf ;_;
Saw him in concert for Kiss Land. He played this song and on the first sentence the entire crowd screamed it with him. Best concert I have ever attended. Only artist who sounds even better live.
This song gives off a total Zade Meadows vibe
This beat is crazy
Right!
XO FOREVER.
Welcome to this world! XOTWOD
Damn, going from blinding lights to something like this is like discovering a whole other artist 🤣
@@416RG factss
same here. I knew him from can't feel my face and the hills but after hearing after hours i finally got into all his old stuff and holy fuck i'm in love. if it wasn't for all these mixtapes i wouldn't be such a diehard fan rn.
There many secret gems
That Siouxsie & the Banshees sample still stuns me every time, i love it.
Siouxsie & The Banshees is the elixir sustaining the first half of the Happy House here.
Haha...Saw them in concert "back in the days"... Abel using a Siouxsie track sample as the core of this track was wonderful & nostalgic. That, and alluding to the Cocteau Twins ('Heaven or Las Vegas') really had me thinkin', "This guys sonic landscapes..." 🎼🎶🎧🎛🔊
...and a lotta folks will never know...
Came here just for this.. thank you! Siouxsie is my favorite.
I can't believe I just found this song, it's amazing
Same we are so late but atleast we are here😊
@@SuamaKaapangelwanever too late for this one🤞🏼🖤
This has been my favorite song of The Weeknd for years, I keep coming back 🖤
I remember hearing this for the first time in my hallway in high school on newly released pandora and everyone told me it was weird and moody 😂 ten years later I’m married and screaming when this plays at the Super Bowl
TUSCAN LEATHER IS A MASTERPIECE
I got so hype when they played it but it only had 10 seconds before transitioning to blinding lights or something. 😂
Me during Corona
"This is a happy house.
We're happy here
In a happy house.
Oh this fun."
Fun, fun fun fun
“If it hurts, to breathe, you have coronaaa”
Mahīśāsaka underrated comment
@@ServingOthers99 omg
LMAO YOU LITERALLY WROTE MY MIND 😂😂😂😂😂
Just bought Trilogy today and had this song on repeat for hours. I can't get enough of it. This goes down as one of my faves. I have 5 of his albums and ONLY listen to the weekend in my car. ONLY the Weeknd in my car. My son put me on this. The first song i ever heard was Wicked Games and been in love with him ever since
Weeknd*. XOTWOD
siouxsie and the banshees ♡
The fact that no one know this is siouxie makes me slightly mad😭😭
@@KaylaSalasidis It's such a good band 😔
He really has something special.
Definitely, when people will be summing up the 2010s decade, his name will def be there.
i highly agree. to the point where even juicy j Stay trippy album has many influences of just him
***** like you said his producers bring that dark feel to the music he bring the amazing vocals
BelizeHunni I wish i never had to leave that world you mentioned.. Glad to know I'm not the only one.
Gurl when I look at those lips I'm also transported somewhere else. Damn, you hella fine.
someone: starboy is definitely the weeknd’s best album
me: you haven’t heard house of balloons?
LMAO
memes are life house of balloons isn’t a album, just like Thursday and Echoes of silence. They’re mixtapes, trilogy is an album.
EdgyKid #367538652 gotta make him feel dumb like that 😂

@@elliottd3641 I mean...
Does that really matter lmao
Heard it a thousand times and i believe i wouldn't live long enough to have enough of this one.
Exceptional gift to mankind!
So, thank you for existing in my lifetime, cannons. ❤
I blasted this in my apartments, neighbor girl came over and was like "Oh my god you too?'", ended up smoking a blunt with her to the whole album.
date her :p
did you smash?
Fucking legendary
+William Robinson yes I did. and I made sure we met up more but driving through LA, 3am, had a bit of everything, white girl, lucy and bud. bumped all of Trilogy, and Kissland and his new stuff now.
+David Black tell me about it. I took it all in. Each time was more than the last.
When the beat changes though......
basically its what extacy fells like high then low
+Rudy Diaz I never thought about it like that....👍👍
+Rudy Diaz Isnt glass table girls about cocaine though?
+brainchild yes but for some it's a part of the drug effect when they listen to the song
brainchild i think can't feel my face is the cocaine song
