  • DIY Automatic Coin Sorting Machine from Cardboard v2.0
For this project you need cardboard, cutting knife, battery, electric motor, small nut and glue. The most important part - to measure needed coins and cut right holes :) This machine is very effective, it can sort up to 300-500 coins per minute!

One suggested improvement, don't seal the back of the motor section. You'll have to cut in order to replace that battery in that current design.

I, too, have a suggestion. Looked like more than one coin would go through at once. Just not two of the BIG ones. So measure for the small ones, too!

It's probably more reliable than the one I have from Argos. Plus it runs on only one 9V battery, not 4 D cell batteries or whatever. It's in the loft collecting dust.

Thinking i might make one, but out of metal and wood instead of cardboard. I've some rolled steel sheets, a lot of scrap lumber, and more electric motors and dinglhoppers than i actually have a number for.
Bit of a collector when it comes to my hobbies of metal working and such.
Few years ago i made a garden sprinkler that turned itself on automatically when the sun went down, and turned off if the temp dropped too low (because its better to water your plants in the evening, as water on your plants at mid day can burn them)

Just tilt the coin slide more and it'll work without power. Actually, if you made it slippier it would probably also be faster.

By the time Babbage built his computing machine he could have added up his ledgers by pen and paper a thousand times over. And yet, almost two centuries later, the concept has grown into you having a little screen you can use to try to judge your betters while taking a dump.
I, for one, am grateful that the world contains people who don't think like you, else we'd still be living in caves.

I had a coin sorter that I got from work.
I sorted almost $1000 one day!
From that day on, I spent every coin as I got them.
    I keep around 25¢, $1 & $2 for shopping carts and that's it.
