I’ve just done this job, if you use an 18mm Offset ring spanner on the shock nut and a 6mm Allen key there’s no need to remove the shock absorber, simply push it down to provide clearance.

Great video! Do you know if the front strut bump is necessary for 335i models with M Sport Suspension?

can deflating the rear air springs be done instead of using a jack to hold the suspention? I only have one jack, but I do have ista diagnostic tool(that can deflate the airsprings)

Yes. That can work and it is probably safer to do than what I did. Let me know if there is a function in ISTA that lets you release the pressure in the suspension.

@@hosuandreiremus just loosen the nut to the airlines in the compressor and they will deflate

@@hosuandreiremuses there is and also remember to remove the air suspension fuse otherwise the compressor will kick in and re-inflate it. Just watch any of the airbag replacement vids and it shows which ISTA function and which fuse

It is there to prolong the life of the shock absorber. You dont want rocks and salt sprayed on the shock all the time as it will perish the seals and wil start loosing fluid.

Is this front or rear. I am looking for front replacement video.

This is for the rear. I have not done the front as it was not needed.

@@hosuandreiremus I managed to replaced front shocks. I didn't have to completely remove the circular arm support on the top. Just had to remove one bolt at the front side to allow the lower arm to go down further and it was easier for the shock to come out. But have to make sure the alignment of the shock, spring pads and top hat are correct.
