Just saw this vid. Great setting, black/white. Thinking of using a flatbed again. This vid came at the right time. Be safe out there. Merry Christmas. God bless
Thanks Cindy, It looks like you have got used to the trailer and it's working well for you. Keep those wheels rolling got make the money. God Bless you and your family our prayers are with you, on a safe drive.
Things have changes since the 90's. For me it was pull the pin, release tractor brakes and slide. Set tractor brakes and hopefully I was close to the hole I wanted. set pin, and off we go. Didnt have air to deal with. Was air ride but 48' straight flatbed, no drop. Cool Lady, thanks.
Hi Cindy. I used to work at a place where I had to help the driver's slide the tandems. (rusty pins and box trailers) WD-40, gloves, and vice grips were imperative! Lol. I also heard a Goodyear airbag explode and it sounded like a cannon! Nice vid and view of the pins and trailer valve. :-)
UA-cam trucker Alliance. Its a group of truckers giving advice on things truck driver face. its really cool. I just thought you would be able to share your knowledge, plus they need more females to share knowledge .
More complicated than the old way of doing it... just setting the trailer brakes and pulling the pin on the trailer assembly...get back into rig & pull or push...depending on the need...and walk back to see if pin lined up with the required hole...set the pin and that was it:)
Sometimes whomever ordered the trailer new specifies it set up to work a certain way. Or with certain equipment on it. I had a flatbed that I got used the original owner got it without winches and it was a major job to put them on afterward so I used it for8 years with all portables. It was a good trailer only missed 1 load in all that for repair. Stay safe.
I always wondered that noise you hear when you were inflating your bags is a sound so you know they are inflating or that's how they sound ,the tractor certainly doesn't sound that way ,and some trailers don't do it I have a manac that won't make that sound but the load king does, hum I wonder!!
I said load king actually it's trail king ,when I was pulling for decker all of the flats made that sound for the life of me I can't remember the make any who thx for reply, enjoy the heck out of your vids
I always apreciate tips and infos in your videos. Thank you. Is it possible to do a video of backing especially alley dock. Thank you very much. Keep the videos coming.
I will try to do some but I don't like the big debates that come with that type of videos, as everyone has their opinion of what is the "correct way" loland I always seem to forget about videoing the securement part. I guess because I'm so used to a lot of the places I go to have signs posted saying no cameras or phones on property. .... but if its a no tarp load I could probably do it after I get loaded :-)
you can't drive down the street with the airbags fully extended you have to drop the air out to drive down the street when you have a load you air up them bags
Yeah, my last trailer had 3 separate valves for the sliding system and it malfunctioned and aired up my axle while I was driving and to make it worse the valve for the brakes popped too and cost me 4 tires ! :- 0
Is there an automatic ride height that you are overriding with the manual valve to get the chassis higher than where the tyres would hit the tie downs? Or is loaded height controlled some other way?
The system is set at a certain ride height which is controlled by an adjustable arm like a normal trailer, it only airs up the bags to make room to slide the axle without hitting the tires on the trailer because they sit up within the wheel wells at normal height. The reason I hit the tie down is because the top of the mud guard is a little bent, (from a previous attempt to slide it) I had to bend it back & I think it's out of the way now.... hopefully :- )
10susan10 it won't lock up the brakes unless there's a malfunction in the system. my old trailer locked up the brakes and aired up the trailer while I was going down the road because of a malfunctioning valve
Had an issue with mine where the anti-lock unit shifted to one side overnight and even though the brakes seemed to work fine the air ride would not fill the bags. Didn't figure out how to reset it until after putting a new one on. expensive lesson.
Pulling a flatbed trailer would not be my cup of tea.... tarping in the strapping is not for me.... I like preloaded trailers I can drop and hook in 7 minutes.... moving tandems can be tricky I bought every tool for Pulling tandems!
Craig Cardwell I get asked this question so often I think I'm gonna do a video on it, lol. Not much other than you are lower to the ground and can haul taller stuff & add ramps and you can haul cars..... But some customers want a "flat only" so it all boils down to personal preference 🤔
i saw someone sell a bulldog truck ornament at an antique fair (Mack I think) made over 200 UK£ not sure what that is usd sorry but if only I had the cash on me at the time ouch an absolutely stunning piece

bearhead41 I always thought that maybe it's something in the valve, maybe an imperfection..... not sure

John Phiri Thank you. I'm not sure, I don't have to do much backing into docks. I usually am backing into a warehouse or get loaded out in the "yard"
Great Video Cindy! You look Great Kiddo. was that a black and white camera or just my eyes playing tricks.
Thank you, yep I did B&W on this one :- )
Nice video! Glad you wore gloves for the second half of things. I imagine all that bare steel is hard on the hands given changing temperatures.
Yes, my hands take a beating :-)
i would like to see some videos of how you would secure different types of loads.
I will try to do some but I don't like the big debates that come with that type of videos, as everyone has their opinion of what is the "correct way" loland I always seem to forget about videoing the securement part. wow dont think ive seen a. trailor like that....
interesting
what
James Wormsley yep, that's what I thought the first time I tried to slide it, lol
William Peek Yep, it's kinda strange 🙃
to much work lmao
when Let the air out of the airbags release your trailer brakes. it reacts quicker to go too drivinghight
Roelof Sluurman Yeah, I had that thought after I made the video, lol
and it doesnot do damage to the brakingsystem or brakingdiscs
you should join ytta
I'm not familiar with that....?

OOPS! Should say tip #4
Is there an automatic ride height that you are overriding with the manual valve to get the chassis higher than where the tyres would hit the tie downs? Or is loaded height controlled some other way?

Thanks Cindy. pretty much what I suspected. If a trailer air bag blows do the trailer brakes lock up? or will the anti-lock still work?
10susan10 it won't lock up the brakes unless there's a malfunction in the system. my old trailer locked up the brakes and aired up the trailer while I was going down the road because of a malfunctioning valve
Had an issue with mine where the anti-lock unit shifted to one side overnight and even though the brakes seemed to work fine the air ride would not fill the bags. Didn't figure out how to reset it until after putting a new one on. expensive lesson.

That makes sense. Thanks for the answer.
What is the advantage to a step deck?
Craig Cardwell I get asked this question so often I think I'm gonna do a video on it, lol. Not much other than you are lower to the ground and can haul taller stuff & add ramps and you can haul cars..... But some customers want a "flat only" so it all boils down to personal preference 🤔
