Hey Jeff, I hate to say it, but you are living the life I wish I could have. I love working with wood, hunting, fishing and spending time with my children. I had a bad back injury in my mid 30's which the first surgeon made worst then repairing. I can't do much anymore because of the doctor. My new surgeon wants to do 2 surgeries, to what he says, is a 50/50 chance to fix it. I'm not taking the chance. Love your video's, like the home refurbished, noodling for catfish, hunting hogs and your cooking, smoking and bbq. Keep the video's coming.
I have a buddy with a Lucas Mill. Not quite as fancy as yours, but still a great piece of equipment and there's nothing quite like milling live slabs. Great video!
Nicely done Jeff. Wish I had properties like yours so I can do stuff like that. Property is crazy out here in California. I learned something today. Preciate y’all
Man oh man you need a clip on microphone. We can't hear you. But when the music comes on, almost makes you deaf it's so loud! Thanks for the video Jeff! 🇺🇸
Maybe just maybe yall are fn deaf get a fn hearing aid clean ys ears maybe get the liberalism out'em. I heard everything he said and I'm fn smart enough to know exactly what he's explaining so check yourself. I appreciate ya Jeff 😌
We took a cypress log to the mill years ago. I counted the rings on it and that sucker had 735 rings. Made some beautiful lumber. Those are some nice wall boards you made.
20 years ago, we built my mom a house on San Juan Island WA. We hired a guy with a mobile rig and we TOTALLY sided her house, her pump shed, and trimmed all the windows with the trees we had to take down ANYWAYS, to clear the footprint of the house... Great Video!.
Saved her a ton of money, even back in 2003, plus its nice to use the trees you kill to put value and purpose back onto the same place you cut the trees down...
I'd love to see the finished remodel you were doing and have you got up to Kansas for your place up there. I know you are always busy. Just think about it.
Who would've thought timber prices would be as crazy as they have been. Moving into the realm of precious metals. 🤦🏻♂️ Great video, thanks Jeff! P.S. Never get tired of the noodling vids, keep 'em coming! 👍🏼
That's some might fine looking timber right there! Not many make conventional siding boards anymore. I can't find them anywhere. My house has old redwood traditional lap siding that is over 46 years old and some of the boards are badly weathered/sun damaged and need replacing. I can't find anything redwood period or any conventional/traditional lap siding at all that I can replace the few bad pieces that I have. Jeff, I hope that you are making out well selling your lumber while these prices are so high right now. I like seeing good hard working people like you making the profits instead of big soulless corporations.
Sawmills are an excellent investment and invention indeed. Nothing better than cutting down trees and putting the log on the sawmill. Then turning the motor on after putting the blade on the level you want on how large and how deep to cut. It slices through and you suddenly have free lumber lol
I didn't know they grew trees like that anymore. We used to or I guess in my dads era they used to have some beautiful old growth pine and hemlock here in PA. Now, they are tough to find.
when I first started at the tie an lumber mill we cut so many logs I would hear the head saw in my sleep haha I enjoyed that job though for the most part. Appreciate y'all
Jeff, you seen the prices of bandsaw mills lately? Even old worn-out used mills are bringing a premium! But it's still cheaper than going to the lumber yard these days.
Almost had a coronary. I turned the sound all the way up to hear him talk and when the music kicked in.... Kickstarted the old ticker. Got a good laugh after though.
Damn man, if you let me know I woulda come on down and gave you an extra set of hands on that mill. You would have had to wait about... eh... 18 hours as I live in Wisconsin. It's a long commute... and I would need a nap when I get there. ;-D I love working with a mill. There is some satisfaction to me seeing all those boards when done stackin. It's serious work shifting logs and lumber, but satisfying when all goes well. Goes faster with help too. Especially the stackin! Be safe, be well, and keep on keepin on. Appreciate all you do.
Jeff man I wish you had grandkids so you could give them this knowledge. I know you would but on top of the world. I'm not push anything I was just thinking how good those videos would be 💯💯💯👍🏽
I will give you a tip for sticking your lumber. Put your sticks about 2 inches from the end of the board on each end. Have you noticed that the board will ( check) as it dries? But the checking stops at the stick? Buy moving the stick closer to the end you have less checking and you don’t loose as much lumber.
Hey Jeff, I could understand picking up one log and putting it on there but to do three logs your going to hurt yourself. That’s probably how you tore your bicep that one time. Stay healthy and safe. Thanks for the video 😉🤙🏼
Looks, good buddy. I wish I had one of those up here in Maine. I am trying to finish my camp with rough-cut pine. Lumber is very expensive right now so rough cut it is. I do like the looks of it. Hope to see more videos of you and Hanna soon. You have a friend up here in Maine. Take care, and God bless!
Way off'topic Jeff. The death wobble on the Kabota front end might be solved as was the old solid axle Dodge pick ups back in the day. A horizontal shock was installed on the tie-rod... It really made the old trucks driveable again. More castor might have helped. I'm an old HD diesel mechanic retired long ago..
In certain places in Alabama there are no codes to follow. Built a few on the coast that were just as astringent as Florida building code and built some around Elba that all they cared about was making sure the septic tank was good and the fart fans were vented all the way at the peak
That's second growth SYP, alot of it was planted at the turn of the 19th century when the original old growth was cleared. Personally, I don't like cutting SYP on the band mill, much prefer a circle mill for dimensional lumber. Your mill is cutting well, nice wide boards.
When wood prices went up I thought about doing this more and more. You can save a whole lot of money framing a house doing this because it doesn't need to be treated. Spend about 2000 on a decent cutting Mill and a forest full of trees.
Always good to see ya Jeff. Damn shame what those dishonest sob's are doing to you and the daughter's channels. Anyway... Keep these videos coming man. I was enjoying a cup of sweet tea watching you and I was just starting to feel guilty about sitting on my ass watching you work. Then the video ended. That Was Close! I'm gittin another cup. See ya soon Jeff. Blue Sky's and Tailwinds
Hey Jeff, wear ah mic, ya like to have blown my ears when the music came on Great video(as always) learned ah little sum n' bout cut n' wood. Question ???? exactly when do you sit down, sit back, and take it easy ????? 🤙 R*O*L*L T*I*D*E
Question , Where I live we are basically 98% Hard woods . Oaks , Hickory , Beech , Ash ( at least the ones left ) , Maple ect . These are not your typical framing woods , so would it behoove a builder up here to invest in a Sawmill ? I'm not a builder , but it just got me thinking with that big old Pine log you got there , what would you do if you lived further North ?
Looks like ponderosa pine logs. My dad has a portable woodmiser. 1 of his friends was moving & didn't want to deal with taking it with them so my dad bought it. It survived a forest fire when my dad's friend had it. Well all the plastic & tires had to be replaced but the rest of it was fine after the fire. O & no my dad's friend didn't start the fire. Some stupid drunks started it cause they left a campfire burning with no one watching it .
This is the hustle ! Georgia had a F4 in coweta country Barron ... come get the free lumber ... it’s sitting around everywhere ... government is not sending any aid so half of it is leaning not rotting ! $$$$ 🇺🇸
346 BF from a 8' by 27" top ??? I just pulled me fadders old log scaling charts (He had a mill in Newfoundland 52x1/4 'circular blasde on a friction rig) out and it should only be 260 on a 1/4 blade and 288 0n a 1/8 blade. One BF being "'x12"x 1' . Now the charts don't allow for short boards cut from the thicker stump slabs which vary in lenght depending on the taper. Are you counting short board too or just 8ftrs?
In Virginia, you'd better saw any white pine within 3 days of felling. The heat from June to September causes the blue staining. Also, after about 5 days you can hear the pine beetle larvae munching on the log.
Jeff love watching ure videos, as there educational, unfortunately most of ure 1st 5-10 minutes you cannot hear. Just a suggestion wear a Mike. I'm sure there's something I'm missing 👂👂. Otherwise love ure videos

Thank you for all of your content
From noodling to framing to cutting raw lumber ,, an education in itself 🙏🏻
Thanks Jeff .missed you and Hannah
Pretty lumber. My Dad walked a many mile behind his Woodmizer before he passed sawing up in his late 70s.
Great video Jeff keep’m coming. God bless.
I have a buddy with a Lucas Mill. Not quite as fancy as yours, but still a great piece of equipment and there's nothing quite like milling live slabs. Great video!
Gooood afternoon from central Florida! Hope everyone has a great day! Great video Jeff!

Love the content 👌
We were warned... That is what happens on his high speed video.

Great looking Lumber. We have a cooks saw mill. They pay for their self easy. And you can cut what you want. Thanks 😊🙏
Great Video! Love All Your Videos! Keep Up The Good Work!!!
I'd love to see the finished remodel you were doing and have you got up to Kansas for your place up there. I know you are always busy. Just think about it.
Wow! That’s impressive!!!👍
Thank you Jeff, I appreciate you sharing.
Really enjoy these sawmill videos. Can't wait to get my own mill.
Nice love the way you cut most people spend more time flipping it around then you do nice video Jeff👍
We can only use stamped lumber to frame homes in NY. But we can use it for everything else.
Don’t know how you guys live and operate there .. suffocated by all the laws
Same here in FL. Actual structure/ load bearing walls has to be stamped lumber but everything else can be rough cut
I ordered a Woodmizer 3 months ago. They got a hell of a wait list. Been collecting a tone of logs. Alotta folk poopoo on pine lumber.
Who would've thought timber prices would be as crazy as they have been. Moving into the realm of precious metals. 🤦🏻♂️ Great video, thanks Jeff!

Great Video Jeff. You do some Impressive work and Fantastic Explaining of how and why you do what you do.
Almost had a coronary. I turned the sound all the way up to hear him talk and when the music kicked in.... Kickstarted the old ticker. Got a good laugh after though.
That was one large pine tree!
Just cut down 8 trees about that size . They were about 75 years old.
Damn man, if you let me know I woulda come on down and gave you an extra set of hands on that mill.
You would have had to wait about... eh... 18 hours as I live in Wisconsin. It's a long commute... and I would need a nap when I get there. ;-D

My dad had 2 woodmizer saw mills,, it cuts some really good lumber

Awesome video man.
With the way prices are now with lumber ya saving a lot of money 👍
I love watching these type of videos you put out
Jeff if you had it to do over again would you still have gotten the wood miser or would you have picked a different brand
Looks good Jeff
Wow, how many years did those take to grow to that girth? In Germany it would take about 80 years, but Alabama is a lot warmer than Germany.
Shazam! Well done, that was a nice clear log!
Can't wait to meet you in person hope your feeling well
Way off'topic Jeff.

Jeff, are you able to use unstamped lumber for structural applications? If so, that’s a big money saver. Thanks for the video!
In certain places in Alabama there are no codes to follow. Built a few on the coast that were just as astringent as Florida building code and built some around Elba that all they cared about was making sure the septic tank was good and the fart fans were vented all the way at the peak

Do you cure the boards after you cut them, is that why they are stacked the way they are?
How long of a log can your rig handle? We mostly worked with 16 ft. on down. my peeler could go up to 36 in diameter in the right conditions.
Question... Have you had trouble with Blue Stain Fungus covering the pine lumber as it dries???
In Virginia, you'd better saw any white pine within 3 days of felling. The heat from June to September causes the blue staining. Also, after about 5 days you can hear the pine beetle larvae munching on the log.
Keep it covered with plenty of ventilation. But that blue stain makes for higher priced lumber
You just saved a lot of money. Go price that wood home depo
What does milling lumber for a customer go for down there? And do you sharpen your own blades or do you have them sharpened for you?
a true craftsman when he mills his own wood
Do you guys have bore bee 🐝? They like pine here in West Virginia.
I hope this is ok to say...but you have some nice wood!! I could spend a weekend learning how to do that!
Hanna, you really need to get your dad a body mic lol
When you have 19 inch boards, don't they crack after a few years as panels?
Jeff love watching ure videos, as there educational, unfortunately most of ure 1st 5-10 minutes you cannot hear. Just a suggestion wear a Mike. I'm sure there's something I'm missing 👂👂. Otherwise love ure videos
How often do you have to change the blade? Are they a lot of money?
Great video
I know I have big smile running my mill these days
Beautiful clear lumber! Shoot that will almost pay for the saw. Hehe
Feel Better!!!
I'm looking for some cedar to make batton boards for the exterior of my tiny home. You got some?
Seen a guy here do lap siding with live edge out of cypress. Looks like the side is melted
Great video thanks
That’s pretty awesome
