This show is what good comics on screen looks like. Everything. From the design to the writing to the twists and turns and even the reimagining of classic characters is handled by far, the best in the business.

Superman and Wonder Woman are the only ones he considers equals, and Wonder Woman might kill. Superman won't.

I love how this show plays on the kind, caring, overly giving nature of Harley that lead her to becoming a psychiatrist in the first place. How under her love for violence and mayhem is an even deeper love for people. This Harley can’t watch as a child is hurt in her presence, even if that child is Bruce Wayne. Even if that child is Batman.
One thing i must confess. I have literally no idea how someone like her could get degree, much less as Psychiatrist. I mean, we saw in her memories that she was very... hmm... "different" from the ordinary kids. I mean she was cutting heads of her "dolls", she was stalking and bothering Frank Munitz so badly that he had to get a restraining order for her(which did not work since Harley admitted in that episode that she went to "juvie"), so how? How was she even admitted to the college?

The teachers did nothing and even after their little skit group project where they burst out laughing gesturing to self harm and suicidal people the teacher didnt bat an eye and gave them a b for effort but short of an A due to lack of accuracy. There are a lot of terrible people in the mental health industry. It does make me think regularly that they are now out there practicing medicine.

it's generally considered the reason why most people don't think bruce is batman because he usually acts like a drunk bore who is a bit of a playboy so no one would think "yea this guy would risk his life and body to save penniless nobodies" it would be like thinking Jeff Bezos could be a superhero.
Like, we KNEW Bruce mass messed up (as someone else said, "Superheroing is for adult orphans".), but this episode really got into the depth of the fact that Batman is a truly broken person. Also, I just love that when seeing how emotionally hurt Bruce is, Harley's first instinct is to try and help him.
I think most version of Batman explore this idea in different ideas. Hell even what's arguably the best version of the Batman, the DCAU's Bats also said as much when he was talking to Wonderwoman. "I'm a Rich kid with issues."
Fundamentally Bruce isnt a broken person, that's why he *is* a superhero, that's how he contrasts the joker, and mental resiliance is literally one of his key character traits (against some latent issues with trauma and ptsd, obviously.) But I do love the idea of a bruce harley dynamic like this.
The whole thing about who the true identity is, in regards to Bruce vs The Bat. It’s the frightened and traumatized 8 year old boy who is the true identity, everything he’s done as it’s shown later is to punish himself instead of letting go of that pain.
When it is revealed that "Joe Chill" in this nightmare is actually Bruce himself repeatedly shooting his own parents to remind his kid self of why he must do what he does it's chilling. He blames himself for their death and also blames himself for wanting to move on. He is caught in a vicious cycle of his own making.
Honestly, this can bring back purpose to Harley’s existence in comics. She could be the Batfamily’s therapist instead of just a randomizer button for writers, and she can bash some heads with them while at it. She can be like Black Canary from Young Justice! This is perfect! A perfect way to show her growth instead of the boring random nonsense they’ve been throwing her in
Well she has skirted with crossing the line from villain to antihero a few times in canon and in H&I she's already come close a few times to psychoanalizing herself across the line.
I support this idea, it will be refreshing to have a new role for her: Being the charismatic, clowny and sarcastic therapist for the bat family, but way more mature, responsible and badass than her evil version, who can support the family mental health while she is fighting against the bad guys, like Alfred, but a little more playful.
I love the idea of Bruce seeing the original costume and being like “Are the ears too big” although it’d be way more in character for him to be like “Oh yeah this is terrifying this is vengeance.” In the little black spandex with his little purple gloves lol.

It's also sad. The saying is "Bruce Wayne walked into the alley with his parents. Batman walked out of the alley without his parents." There's an episode of Justice League where Green Lantern, Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman get turned into kids by a spell. Wonder Woman asks Batman why he doesn't seem affected by any of the childlike impulses that the others are experiencing. He looks at her and says "I haven't been a child since I was eight years old," and then just walks away.
Love how they aknowledge that Harley is barely a clown at this point. She never was too clown-themed to begin with, just a jester wearing clown makeup.

Yeah. Much more in line with the 1989 theme used during the intro. The slow melodic build when it's showing the flashback talking about being a symbol. Even has the higher pitched 4 notes that go down. Repeats a second time, and then has the bombastic drums beating as the title "Batman" is revealed just before getting into the marching drums we all know and love.
There’s something really wholesome of Harley carrying and protecting a little Bruce whos suppose to be her enemy and goofing around. Love seeing her skills of being a psychiatrist being used in the show. Honestly she should’ve worked with kids instead at Arkham
I really love Harley and Batman's relationship in every interpretation of them she really earned her spot in the Bat-Family i really hope in this universe she becomes a honorary member
2:53 - Again, this show knows what it's on about. That musical flourish is from the 1989 Batman film. This is the fanservice people want and can appreciate. The lightning flash and the shadow in the background is another really nice touch.
This was a fantastic episode. I really like how these writers really know the material and aren't afraid to have fun with the characters while keeping their core traits

Tbh, with superman, even villains knowing his identity can do nothing about it. Superman is one of those heroes who can reveal himself like iron-man and actually deal with it. Very few people have access to kryptonite and those that do, wouldn't really gain much from knowing this information. Sure there is the "go after the ones he loves", but apart from a handful of characters like parasite, no one would be making such moves.
There were some comics where the ears were HUGE. It really varied from artist to artist, even in the same time period. He'd have normal looking ears in Detective Comics, and friggin' huge ears in Batman or whatever.

2:32 I just love how they have a variant of the 1989 Batman theme by Danny Elfman when Harley realizes that Bruce Wayne is Batman. And in between 2:54 and 2:55 is no one noticing that in that flash of lightning and saying “I’m Batman” Young Bruce Wayne’s shadow is Batman’s shadow.
And they play it perfectly when they reveal Batman buckling his belt, they pan up to his serious face and immediately he breaks out into the ears being too big bit. Just perfect. This shows writers are doing a damn good job.

A body language expert said Superman actually hides his identity by slumping his shoulders and always looking down at the ground, using an "aw, shucks," nice guy persona. That way no one notices Clark Kent twice. No one would associate Clark with the alpha male, square shouldered, Superman. It's an interesting idea.
You notice it alot in the cartoons if you look for it, Clark is sweet, bumbling and a bit of a klutz, he talks about ma and pa Kent, and is rather timid, where Superman is confident, has stated multiple times he's an alien, strong, not clumsy and appears to be not aloof but just out of reach. Other superheroes do it too, Peter Parker is quiet, nerdy, doesn't appear to be strong, where spiderman can lift cars, makes quips while facing bad guys all the live long day. Batman dark, brooding, almost cryptid, who doesn't go down or stop, Bruce Wayne Golden boy of Gotham, is generally nice and friendly to new people, acts like a playboy. The whole point is making yourself seem so unlike the other to make it an impossible leap but not letting them slip so far apart that it takes more than a piece or two of info to bring both sides together. (Clark; he was raised by the Kent's but is still an alien, Peter; bit by a radioactive spider and was given the power to help others, Bruce; he is still haunted by his parents deaths and wants to make sure no one feels that way again) it keeps both sides from slipping and causing a character to suffer from disassociation.
@@msk-qp6fn another big part is expectations no one expects the co-worker or boss to be this superhero, just like how you can get actual actors to enter a look alike contest and to not win (dolly Parton entered one and got second to a drag queen, Hugh Jackman has had people critique his wolverine costume to his face, so it happens)

And even better if revealed and she responded with "who" because how many people know their second best local reporter. Let alone the second best reporter from a completely different city.
The only thing that would have made the episode better. It would explain why no one ever notices that Clark Kent is Superman; people just assume Superman doesn't have a secret identity, because he's Superman. Why would he need one?
It was at this point Harley became a lot more sympathetic to Bruce. She helped him at first but that was because she felt bad, but knowing he is Batman make it more personal as she had known that side of him for years. They may have gripe but the amount of times Batman saved Harley when she was abandoned by the Joker should have some impact on her.

Love the BTAS design of the world when they went into Bruces head. The red sky, the old cars and architecture. That was a really neat touch, glad to see them pay homage to greatness/basically what gave birth to harley and dc animation as a whole

Like, we KNEW Bruce mass messed up (as someone else said, "Superheroing is for adult orphans".), but this episode really got into the depth of the fact that Batman is a truly broken person.
Also, I just love that when seeing how emotionally hurt Bruce is, Harley's first instinct is to try and help him.
I think most version of Batman explore this idea in different ideas. Hell even what's arguably the best version of the Batman, the DCAU's Bats also said as much when he was talking to Wonderwoman. "I'm a Rich kid with issues."
Fundamentally Bruce isnt a broken person, that's why he *is* a superhero, that's how he contrasts the joker, and mental resiliance is literally one of his key character traits (against some latent issues with trauma and ptsd, obviously.)
But I do love the idea of a bruce harley dynamic like this.

The whole thing about who the true identity is, in regards to Bruce vs The Bat.
It’s the frightened and traumatized 8 year old boy who is the true identity, everything he’s done as it’s shown later is to punish himself instead of letting go of that pain.
When it is revealed that "Joe Chill" in this nightmare is actually Bruce himself repeatedly shooting his own parents to remind his kid self of why he must do what he does it's chilling.
He blames himself for their death and also blames himself for wanting to move on. He is caught in a vicious cycle of his own making.
Honestly, this can bring back purpose to Harley’s existence in comics. She could be the Batfamily’s therapist instead of just a randomizer button for writers, and she can bash some heads with them while at it. She can be like Black Canary from Young Justice!
This is perfect! A perfect way to show her growth instead of the boring random nonsense they’ve been throwing her in
Well she has skirted with crossing the line from villain to antihero a few times in canon and in H&I she's already come close a few times to psychoanalizing herself across the line.
I like the idea, but I think there might have to be a lot of trust built before it she becomes that figure in their lives.

I support this idea, it will be refreshing to have a new role for her: Being the charismatic, clowny and sarcastic therapist for the bat family, but way more mature, responsible and badass than her evil version, who can support the family mental health while she is fighting against the bad guys, like Alfred, but a little more playful.
You know this is why everyone loves Harley cause deep down she understands more and I mean much more than everyone else at least she’s sympathetic.

There's an episode of Justice League where Green Lantern, Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman get turned into kids by a spell. Wonder Woman asks Batman why he doesn't seem affected by any of the childlike impulses that the others are experiencing. He looks at her and says "I haven't been a child since I was eight years old," and then just walks away.

Yeah. Much more in line with the 1989 theme used during the intro. The slow melodic build when it's showing the flashback talking about being a symbol. Even has the higher pitched 4 notes that go down. Repeats a second time, and then has the bombastic drums beating as the title "Batman" is revealed just before getting into the marching drums we all know and love.
There’s something really wholesome of Harley carrying and protecting a little Bruce whos suppose to be her enemy and goofing around. Love seeing her skills of being a psychiatrist being used in the show. Honestly she should’ve worked with kids instead at Arkham

A body language expert said Superman actually hides his identity by slumping his shoulders and always looking down at the ground, using an "aw, shucks," nice guy persona. That way no one notices Clark Kent twice. No one would associate Clark with the alpha male, square shouldered, Superman. It's an interesting idea.
You notice it alot in the cartoons if you look for it, Clark is sweet, bumbling and a bit of a klutz, he talks about ma and pa Kent, and is rather timid, where Superman is confident, has stated multiple times he's an alien, strong, not clumsy and appears to be not aloof but just out of reach.
Other superheroes do it too, Peter Parker is quiet, nerdy, doesn't appear to be strong, where spiderman can lift cars, makes quips while facing bad guys all the live long day. Batman dark, brooding, almost cryptid, who doesn't go down or stop, Bruce Wayne Golden boy of Gotham, is generally nice and friendly to new people, acts like a playboy. The whole point is making yourself seem so unlike the other to make it an impossible leap but not letting them slip so far apart that it takes more than a piece or two of info to bring both sides together. (Clark; he was raised by the Kent's but is still an alien, Peter; bit by a radioactive spider and was given the power to help others, Bruce; he is still haunted by his parents deaths and wants to make sure no one feels that way again) it keeps both sides from slipping and causing a character to suffer from disassociation.
It works surprisingly well in real life. Also Superman works on his body language so that helps

People just see him as Superman as opposed to Batman who's partially masked and Spiderman who's completely. I would have loved if Harley had said something like "wait superman has a secret identity, I thought he was just an alien". And even better if revealed and she responded with "who" because how many people know their second best local reporter. Let alone the second best reporter from a completely different city.
The only thing that would have made the episode better. It would explain why no one ever notices that Clark Kent is Superman; people just assume Superman doesn't have a secret identity, because he's Superman. Why would he need one?

It was at this point Harley became a lot more sympathetic to Bruce. She helped him at first but that was because she felt bad, but knowing he is Batman make it more personal as she had known that side of him for years. They may have gripe but the amount of times Batman saved Harley when she was abandoned by the Joker should have some impact on her.
When little Bruce said "I'm Batman" it got me. 😂

Ironically, this and the Joker becoming mayor episode are my favorite ones so far from these season, we get to see a glince of humanity from both Joker and Harley we've never seen before in surprisingly wholesome ways, a surprise for sure, but a welcome one
A lot of the attempts at humor were more annoying to me, but the moment it clicks to her that he's Batman is genuinely funny.
