I'm so amazed to hear this HQ version of my early childhood memories❤ When you record the songs directly from the PSR-78, the bass is a lot heavier. Why is that? Is there some effect which MAME does not emulate?
FUN FACT: There're ACTUAL SHEETS inside the manual if you have the physical version of the manual. You need to dig a little bit deeper if you wanna find a PDF Version.

Yamaha putting up big numbers on the PCM shift. Is there a way to send these demos out via midi to other sound modules? Or did even the midi capable versions of this chip not support that?
This model doesn't have MIDI, but you can also assign the keys/buttons to the actual computer keyboard and play it that way. MAME does support using MIDI input for emulating keyboards that actually have MIDI ports, like some of the Casio CTK series that I also added support for not long ago.

I don't think Yamaha normally supported doing that, but this particular chip (GEW7) doesn't have any kind of built-in MIDI or serial interface anyway.
