I've known this beautiful song from since childhood... And boy I love it for ah lifetime. One of the very best calypso of all time.I will play it over and over and just can't hear enough..omg
This is lyming in a nutshell. Great storytelling drenched in humor. After watching folks like Cosby and Woody Allen, I am, quite frankly, stunned we don't have a ton of comedians in Hollywood. Most of us were fully trained comedians by the time we were 10. Duke, your music makes me both smile and melancholy . Smile, cause your music and lyrics mesmerize me. Melancholy, cause the beauty of your talent is from another time. Thanks for the memories.
The lyrics fit precisely into the music like a hand into a custom made glove And the words paint an exact picture in your mind with the maximum of efficiency and economy It's like listening to Shakespear set to music We are now in the midst of a worldwide cult of ugliness, crassness, & violence in words, music, & action Beauty and humor have fled the scene Oh how these classic calysonians are missed by those who knew their music and their towering talent And how deprived of beauty and humor without even knowing how much are the young ones who forsake their culture for American C-rap I recognized the ugly trend early and stopped listening to new stuff around the mid-90's, when garbage began to outnumber good music Duke is surely now making wherever it is we go after this life a better place Thank you sir
Preach, brother, preach. I am listening and crying. We don't make it like this anymore, and it's a crying shame! The creativity that came out of Trinidad and Tobago is astounding. I come back to this music every time I can. This is my stress reliever … my ethos, my " spiritual cascadura." How I love my country and its talent!

How many of us remember that this great calypso is a track from the very first album arranged by a very young Leston Paul who was destined to attain the great heights that he has reached as an incomparable arranger of music.
