Yeah can't help but think the last Izzy fight was in the back of Alex's mind. He knew he had Khalil on the ropes and he was fading. No need to rush and risk getting countered
The whole time i was watching that i was thinking of his 2nd ufc fight with adesanya. So smart and composed for pereira to be able to keep that in mind and not make that mistake again mid war. Awesome.
I’d like to see more of that ultra instinct Pereira when he not KO his opponents with one hit but destroy them with series of powerful punches. Huge respect to Khailil, bro fought till his body completely collapsed. And even then he was trying to fight back.
100% Junior put up one hell of a fight.. he still looks so quick and clean to change up/counter/slip.. can't wait to see him fight again, love that muay thai 🙌
yea i mean i get it but...looked like fight almost could have just been stopped. it was just a predator picking away at his prey really. props to khalil...and oc, chama lol
It is. But he was still fighting. Watching now I notice how after Poatan's knee landed (minute 4:16 of the video), Khalil actually lands good hooks at Poatan's head, one of which aparently hit his chin. I mean, even if he was pretty hurt, that punch could've knocked out Poatan, just look how Adesanya won angainst him the same way.
This footage is better than the UFC footage because it's like we're there watching the fight, there are no cuts between angles. Very good. There should be this option in the UFC footage, so people can choose what they like best.
Being as fatigued and injured he did what he was supposed to, towards the end he threw like 4 or 5 hooks when he was getting pieced up against the cage but it just didn’t have that sting to it although a couple connected. That made Alex regroup and that’s what’s so good about him he has great finishing instinct, only a few people have that in the ufc
People complain that the referee didn't stop the fight, but when the referee stops the fight, people complain about the stoppage. They will always complain.
Yeah well had pereira not been chucking 10 head kicks a minute Khalil would’ve had zero success, as soon as he stopped throwing head kicks the fight was over, only so much respect you can give a guy for getting destroyed
Damn, strong start from Khalil but he gassed himself out and Pereira entered the flow state right here. Was giving serious prime Silva vibes in this round 🗿👊
@@Jeeiff yep, whoever watched nick diaz fights know how cumulative punches on the head makes a fighter slow down. Multiple fighters who lost to this commented how they thought they were wining because they were landing more power punches but all of a sudden would slow down and get beat
Let's chill the fuck down. First of all the only top competition he faced was Jiri, because he was the number one contender, and Izzy. And Izzy flatline him. He hasn't face the top competition. He is willing to fight, but that doesnt mean he is the greatest fighter. You cannot tell that when you got people like Khabib who face the next contender everytime and never lost. He is really, really active, but he just fought with a ranked 8 guy who is not even in his prime. You are hyping this way too much.
Yan was also top competition, and we all saw how boring that was. Ankalaev deerved this fight but they are just filling Alex with no names or old guys. The fight he is willing to risk the bell that easily is really impressive, though. Thats another matter.
I think that's what the UFC wants to do here soon. After Alex faces Ankalaev, I think they'll do Alex Vs. Aspinall and if Alex somehow gets passed Aspinall have him fight the current GOAT Jon Jones for all-time GOAT status. I mean if it get's there the anticipation will be like nothing else. Unfortunately, I don't think Pereira gets passed Ankalaev though, so probably won't ever come to fruition.
Certainly the greatest striker ever. As good a striker as Anderson Silva was, there's no way he could have pulled his showboating antics with Pereira and not gotten knocked out.
2:07 That's it, the fight is essentially done there. Khalil's 1-2 pattern completely captured by Alex there. That counter stunned Khalil, and every shots he threw to Alex were no longger work, it become part of Alex rythm, a total control.
alex pereiras best performance of his career. crazy to think he's doing what he does at 37, while moving to mma from kickboxing not too long ago. so must respect for this guy.
UFC 309 RD4 of Alex vs Khalil was the killing round. If Alex continue to fight like this he's more scary. One of my favorite fighter after GSP for being a humble champ. BTW, great recording from a distance, thanks for sharing man!
When I see this first time I thought it was very easy work for Alex. But Khalil endurance was incredible. And he landed some dangerous punches. At the end was a savage round to watch! Blood everywhere!
4:08, Alex was nearly going for the knee to the face, that would have really made a huge damage to Khalil for a nasty knockout, but Alex was a man with good heart, he knew he was going to win either way, why hurt this warrior with good fighting spirit more than what was necessary. Alex did what was 'muscles memory' and natural reaction, but refrained himself from doing a strong final damage to Khalil who was visibly injured from the nose, and 'body language' Wish there were more highlights of this Alex humanity side, unlike many other crazy fighters who ought to destroy their opponents career. Imagine, Alex landed that knee to the face, for a nasty knockout, made such a great highlight of his achievements in Light Heavyweight. But, he chose to ended it with as less damage punch as possible, even let his hands down, as his opponents were clearly trying to give his final few punches until he couldn't take it anymore. Mad respect for Alex Pereira.
From 2.00 action begins 🔥 what a show by both. Masterclass striking and defense by poatan 💯 respect to you Khalil youre a real dawg 🥵 ( 10/10 for cameraman)
Amazin angle! What a fight to save the main card, hey. Khalil showed so much heart, it was Poatan's hardest opponent (maybe aside from that Izzy defeat), and ppl were giving sht because Khalil was #8.
Khalil in a interview said that pereiras jab is what kept getting to him, and now seeing from this angle Poatan throws it at an inhuman speed. Dudes a monster
Jan jiri and Izzy all took him down they just couldn’t do shit. Alex has a great ground coach in glover. Like Alex isnt going to just die if he gets taken down or wrestled it’s not as easy as it seems. He has decent defense and is probably tons better than he was and getting better the more he trains. Sean can wrestle and trains with him that’s gotta help too. it’s a shame ank isn’t going to get past Rakic. We won’t get to see the Russian wrestling machine against Alex.
Wow you can really see the size difference with your crowd camera man visuals compared to ufc cameras, great job, crazy to think the bigger dude actually just recently came up from a lower weight class ! 🇦🇺
That didn’t look like Roundtree in the first two rounds. It really shows the patience of Alex to conserve his energy and take the nastiest shots of arguably the biggest power puncher in LHW outside of Alex himself. Then, pick and choose his shots and just batter Roundtree with shots that don’t even look like much, but as Marc Not So Goddard said “his punches make an ungodly sound” in his twenty years of referring fights, he’s never seen or heard anything like Alex. Alex being the last of the dragons to be considered the best to ever do it. Gosh I love this sport.
Pereira's leg kicks immobilize Roundtree in the start of R4, he becomes too slow to counter and a sitting duck at that point, what a nasty beating he took in R4
Khalil lost, but he has been admirable, a real warrior. I don't think anybody can prevent him from getting the belt, after Alex retires. I love Alex, but kudos to Khalil, the lionheart ❤

One of the best fights. KRJ definitely deserves respect and for sure just became a favorite fighter of a lot of fans due to how much heart the guy has and showed.
When pereira held back that knee, it really looked like he just didnt want to kill the guy and was doing eveything in his power to put him away but not kill him. Fight should have definitely been stop sooner. No one will ever question khalil heart. Dude is born to be a champion and will be.
Interesting how when the fighters are getting exhausted, it inevitably turns into a catious boxing match. No gas to even attempt kicking or grappling. A valiant effort by Roundtree. He's tough as nails. It may be time for Pereira to move up a weight class. It's highly unlikely Jones will move back down to LH.
