I think we all need to write to him to tell him about the positive effect he has had on other musicians, how inspired we feel having been able to learn from the way he sings and plays and writes. He likes hand writing so a hand written card or letter is the thing to do. Wouldn't it be a fine situation to enable a steady stream of thanks to reach him and let him know just how much he is valued as an artist?
The guitar solo in this song has become my go-to as well to call my favorite, and to point people to listen to the slightly deeper tracks because thats where John hid all the gold.

Totally rip of 1:08 in one of my songs, but its a masterful way to compliment a chord progression that's rarely done, in fact I've only ever heard it on this song. The way he turns a mediocre song into a masterpiece using SO MANY layers is astounding. Would love to chat to him about how he composed this, his brain is on another level and when he adds his second instrument, ie his voice...wow! And those arpeggios! When she shifts them up an octave...shivers every time!

I really like the guitar work here. Many sections and he has different sounds for it. Backing vocals are also very solid :)
