Firstly, I am Jordanian. Welcome to Jordan. Secondly, the officers were harsh with you on the border because the Jordanian-Syrian border is considered a suitable place for drug trade, and Jordan is now actually in a real war against this issue. For this reason, they were a little harsh with you.
It looked a very tough day, start stop, start stop at all these border checkpoints, must feel very frustrating and anxious about all the costs involved, which is rather a lot.

Many young muslims think that we will start praying Salah and fasting in our old age but its a pity that all those young muslims are now in the graves. Death doesn't ask anyone before coming so its better before facing it we should start worshipping Allah and bow before him.
Allah says in Qur'an,
Every soul will taste death. And you will only receive your full reward on the Day of Judgment. Whoever is spared from the Fire and is admitted into Paradise will ˹indeed˺ triumph, whereas the life of this world is no more than the delusion of enjoyment.
Qur'an (3:185)
"WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER DEATH:"
*(Those people will not desist from their doing) till when death comes to any one of them, he will say, "Lord, send me back to the world which I have left: I hope I will now do righteous deeds."*
*By no means! it is a mere saying that he is uttering: for now there is a barrier between the dead (and the world which they have left) up to the Day when they shall be raised up again.*
*Then, when the Trumpet will be blown, all (worldly) relations between them shall cease to function and they will not inquire about one another.*
*Then only those whose Scales will be heavy, will attain success; and those, whose scales will be light, will be the people who made themselves liable to loss they shall abide in Hell for ever.*

One matter you usually comment that after crossing the border to a different land, almost everything changes - this is true. When I crossed the land border of Thailand and entered into Malaysia, I also felt changes. Trees, landscape, environment, even I was feeling the colours of trees also seemed slightly changing
