I earned a Ph.D.: in Education: with a concentration in Organizational Leadership
My dissertation title is:
Exploring the Lived Experiences of Black Males Who Have Participated in a Black Male Initiative Program at a Historically Black College or University
Earning my Doctorate this year! My defense is at the end of this week! You did awesome, and I cried listening to your family and committee. I pray that I will do as great as you did on your defense. God bless you all! Hope you enjoy our trip! 😂❤️❤️

I am at the doorstep, and part of my FINAL dissertation writing and defense preparation course is to select 10 dissertation defenses-successful ones, partial passes, and unsuccessful ones and take notes and report out what we've learned and will borrow as we prepare to defend. Dr. Moore, I am so godly proud to have found this video. I am at the same school and just submitted my defense-ready dissertation. So excited about your next, I will quote my favorite passage from the Bible in a time like this one. "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him" (1 Corinthians 2:9 KJV).
That made me cry! Your parents got to watch it! That is amazing. I am entering my Ph.D. program at Liberty and doing my due diligence on the dissertation process. I really enjoyed your video, congratulations!

1. Try to identify a topic early
2. Begin writing and research on the topic in your early courses
3. Create a reference data base (I used EasyBib)
4. Give yourself grace

Dr. Jernard Moore, I watched your dissertation presentation defense and I am amazed, not only for you, but your defense team, their amazement and encouragement, as well as your family's. I too am waiting to be approved to start the Ph.D. program in Psychology. I can revisit your defense and take notes for guidance. Thanks for uploading this. I am encouraged and less apprehension, but more courage and I am already passionate. Can't wait!!!

Dr. Jernard, I have a question. I am to start LU PHD Psychology - Theology program this August. I've read many negative reviews stating that professors make you take classes over again, especially during the dissertation time, because, this is where they make the money and, too, that most professors are not available. Can you answer and guide me, in reference to your experiences, regarding this information. Also, since I am single, I must work while obtaining my doctorate (I'm currently searching to find out how to best achieve this). What is your advice?

I feel ABSOLUTELY blessed to have stumbled upon this dissertation defense! I defend coming off of summer break, at the start of the Fall term in September 2023 and decided to look at some defenses here on UA-cam. When I tell you this defense has given me sooo much peace and reassurance about presenting in September, it is an understatement! This was a blessing to watch! You did a phenomenal job Dr. Moore! Although our topics are different, there is so much that is similar. This defense smoothed out all the doubts mainly due to the peace that your spirit reflects during this presentation. This reiterated for me, that I CAN do ALL things through Christ who is my strength! All the best to you and your lovely family! Thank you for being an example and for sharing here. M.P.
I am glad my defense was able to help you! I was extremely nervous that entire day, but I kept telling myself "I am an expert, and I am just explaining my expertise"! I also prayed all day too lol! How is it possible to use theoretical framework in transcendental phenomenology? You would have to reduce your preconceived notions but you invited it in the form of theoretical framework.Is that right? I am confused? Is there something wrong with my understanding of the distinction between transcendental and hermeneutics phenimenology? In addition how it is possible to use FGD to explore lived experience ? FGD is a method of opinion exploration than lived experience ,as far as my understanding is concerned .I hope you will respond clearly.
Thank you for posting this. It is inspiration. It is also education. This seemed like the easy part for you. The part you were born for. Question. How much outside help did you require for the hard part. I.e. the collection of data, dissertation and possible transcription of your interviews?
Thank you! Yes this was the easy part for me despite the nerves before presenting.
I did not have any assistance in data collection or analysis phase. I analyzed data and begin to create themes early in the collection phase!
I utilized Otter Ai for my transcription service!
