This is damn cruel from the perspective of the Boy whom the girl is marrying, he didn't even force her to. The girl is cheating on just because she is afraid she will be bored ? What bullshit ? This shit is cancer. So was Jab Harry Met Sejal. Don't know what has happened to Imtiaz. Maybe he has lost his clarity of thought.

This needs part 2 , to know further story and how the decision by girl affected her life. An incomplete story without a proper msg can set bad example for society. Just to know the different views of people , and people liking the movie are not sufficient. Every movie doesnt need good ending like the real life but such incomplete movies are definitely not going to leave good impact on young minds. One of the main traits of a good character is trustworthiness.

Reminded me of Tamasha. And I still wonder why Tamasha didn’t do well on box office! Perhaps because that movie in a way removes the viewer from the seat and places him/her in front of the whole audience on the screen, effectively making him/her feeling embarassed because of own weaknesses. The reason behind not understanding Imtiaz Ali Films is " People don't know themselves, they think about others rather than thinking about themselves, our mind and heart is created to create wonders and to experience a lot more things other than daily soaps and stupid romcom.. Once you get close to yourself, once you start to feel every little things about yourself, once you start giving some attention to every action and every good or bad feelings or emotions inside your heart you will feel more alive and then may be IF YOU ARE LUCKY YOU WILL UNDERSTAND HIS FILMS.
"confused and being complex" has always been imtiaz Ali's concept and he made a lot of stories based on this.. but now I think he should make something different. We are watching the same thing from "socha na tha" till "jab Harry met sejal" and I must tell you it's been very long time since then.
Can relate so much to scared of being bored by my interests. I've just completed 12th and have to finally choose which career line to pick. In a way I'm getting married to my career choice... it's a life long commitment and choosing another one is probably just as big a hassle as a divorce because the careers I'm confused between are polar opposites... Well i think the story of a man/women discovering him/herself was very well portrait in tamasha and now anything that is remotely similar to discover-self movies reminds us of it.. the title can be interpreted in 3 ways -
1) the movie reflects the time in reverse
2) the stereotyped gender roles are reversed
3) the photographer was always 'the other', not the 'way'.
i feel the concept is a little too progressive for most, so it ends up confusing or hitting them! very imtiaz ali, this short :)

As a Imtitaz Ali's super-fan, I am getting worried after 'Jab Harry Met Sejal', That worry continues with this short.
very few filmmakers understand the nuances of life and relationships like Imtiaz Ali does. Although many will say it is the same old story and he must change his ways but that is what we as an audience lack and fail to comprehend. First of all its not a mainstream platform so why to make a film if a storyteller wont event experiment a little and go out of his ways ( however Imtiaz experiments in mainstream mediums as well ) and secondly it is about changing times which might not be completely reflective of todays society but does breathe somewhere in some places in some minds.
In my opinion it is the detailed and non serious( at several places ) voice over that brings down the film.

Lavish production , good acting and good dialogues couldn't mask the terribly simplistic plot. I suspect it is ghost written by his teenage daughter.The time-reverse gimmick couldn't lift it and the spoon feeding VO worsened it.

To me it is by far one of the finest films ever made. If you look at it, he's shown this girl who believes in her freedom. Freedom to do anything that she wants and gives her the contentment and lover her life. Happiness is what you want. Marriage, manogamy is all what we are bombarded with all these years. With time should your belief, your approach to such things change? Should you believe in TRUE freedom or just live with the fact that you have to behave in a way after a point of time(after getting married) Love the depth in it and the brilliant execution and the fantastic way of depicting such a beautiful approach in mere fourteen minutes. You are a STAR sir!

I think the point was totally missed. This short does not encourage infidelity. As the girl says "I can do anything, anytime. No one can give me freedom", which summarises how the marriage should be. Just because she is married, she doen't need to seek freedom from anyone. She is free to do what she wants irrespective of whether she is married or not. And that realization takes her fear away from the marriage and she goes back to get married. However, if a person actually chooses to indulge in a post marital relationship or not is left to the person's consciousness and it is his/her responsibility to deal with the consequences. But marriage can not be a deterrant to those thoughts/actions irrespective of the accepted moral standards of the society.
Timeless! Also, I am reminded of shahrukh's role as a junior artist in om shanti om and how he had to die first to achieve life.

i read somewhere imtiaz ali is a geminian.it shows in all his films.the opposite pulls of adventure and bonds, freedom and belongingness, home and the world, the truth of deceit.i liked this film.but i also feel he needs to explore his contradictions more deeply to make different films.

The song during mehndi was so real.
It's a satire. By going backwards in time imtiaz wants to show how people change so fast. People can't stay true to themselves. First she showed the guy attitude that she ain't gonna flirt with him, later they hook up but say that they won't marry, finally they run away. It's about the muddled way in which youth spend their lives today. No planning, no inner thought.
If a guy is scared of commitment everyone is like " oh he just wants your body he doesn't love you and all that" but if a girl is scared everyone is like its her freedom her choice. What is this???!!!

Am I the only one who actually liked the film? I think its not at all wrong. Psychology, precisely psychoanalytical theory says that there is a term called as 'superego'. It includes the moral ideas that a person learns within the family and society. It is the internal representation of parental and societal values. Nothing if we look in the broadest dimension is wrong. It is what we have been told. We have been told if a girl sleeps with 4-5 men she's wrong or a slut. Who decides that barrier? Anything and everything that gives you happiness, makes your life better and enjoy a moment is NOT WRONG. But what's more important is not living w a guilt. In the film later if she feels she is not contended and doesn't feel good then that's different. That is absolute freedom to do what makes you love your existence without having a guilt. Love this film! Imtiaz never lets down❤️

Is it just me? Bcos I don’t understand what the hell just happened here...
I came here after watching his recent release Love Aaj Kal 2, which was very dull movie with very poor storyline. I hoped that this could be a better movie since it's a short movie, and the movie kept the curiosity till the end only to get the shock when the end credits popped up. I mean where the hell is the story. Where is that Imtiaz Ali who gave us masterpiece like Socha na tha, Jab we met and Love Aaj Kal part 1. Sad I feel he is going Ram Gopal Verma way.
