- Freshwater has many contexts with unique implications for every community. An overview presents various conceptual frameworks to better understand the contexts and to support dialogue. The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) framework helps to demonstrate the interconnectedness of various water applications, especially the SDGs that make up the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus. Water is connected to every SDG directly or indirectly. This is demonstrated in a set of five thematic discussions established for the 2023 UN-Water Conference to be held in March 2023.
