Here's how I made a smash cake for my niece's first birthday. The design is pretty simple, but I used different techniques like airbrushing and buttercream piping.

I watched him on the new nailed it show. He is literally amazing and one of the best cake artists I've seen before
I made my nephews smash cake!! I was crazy to put soooo much time into it!!! It was a Coco Melon cake it had the watermelon tv thing, the ladybug on it, rainbow and i spelled his name with letter blocks on the bottom!!! It kinda broke my heart to see all my hard work get destroyed!! But it was worth it to see how excited he was to see his favorite characters on a cake!!!❤❤❤

Had a lady bring in a smash cake design with smallish fondant flowers and large pearls on it for a 1 year old. When I brought up the fact that some of the elements could be a choking hazard for the baby, she said “it’s fine” with a huge smile. It’s not gonna be “fine” when you gotta give your baby the Heimlich. Parents, your baby’s health and well-being are 100X more important than the aesthetics of their first birthday party.
I wonder if rolling softer fondant in a ball & just coating it in edible glitter could work…
