A (belated) well done! Your Svbony Solar -was a Great Review, Paul! I am not a solar guy, but you've provided a good reference for my friends who ask about solar! ;-) (MUCH cheaper than the Lunds! ;-)👍
Yea, it doesn`t create H-alpha images like Lands, etc., but it does provide nice views of sunspot activity. It is a good value. Thanks for the comments and watching!
Hi Paul, thank you for this great video. It's very informative. You even tried a couple of different cameras on it. I was curious, though, if you tried any other eyepieces with it? Anyway, thank you once again for putting out such a quality video, as usual. Sincerely, Rich Williams Astor, Florida 31202 USA!
Hi Rich. Yes, I tried a few other eyepieces. Basically the eyepiece provided is very basic, but works quite well. So does the diagonal; it also works pretty good. I honestly did not notice if you get any improved viewing with a better diagonal or eyepiece combination. But I did notice that a 15mm or 12mm gave a more magnified view and better viewing for my eyes. I may be able to check more closely the day after tomorrow and let you know. No sun until then.... Glad you like the video(s)! PAUL
Don't give up on the MP4 video and stacking. I know you can import MP4 into PIPP and then pull out the best frames. Those can then be stacked in something like Autostakkert for better images of the sun. Both those programs are free by the way.
Great video, great fun to watch! Unfortunately, the solar eclipse will not be for us. Stil remember May 21st, 2012, when I had tried to make some photos with my camara.
Thanks Matthias. I try hard to make them entertaining / not just informative. Glad to know you enjoyed this one. It was a bit "commercial" (I admit), but I think the data supports my positive review. Best, PAUL
Well, I guess they did not sponsor you although they should! It is a timely product release for this year's solar eclipse in the USA. Hope you could use the clear days last week to make more photos. Have anice week!@@jpastroguy
Bad on you. But I probably should have verbally mentioned it too. But I did say in the video that this is something I probably would not buy for myself....
Hey Paul, noticed you were using the Svbony Cam phone/tablet software and am wondering if you've tried out the Svbony Astro phone/tablet software (as I just came across it and it looks a lot better).
Thanks for your comment. I see the SVBonyAstro APPLI on Google Play and the APP Store, but it does not work on my iPhone or tablet. It installs, but will not open up even when the SC001 camera is switched "on". My assumption was that this APP is for the new camera, the SC311. If not, then what am I doing wrong?
Interesting choice of materials used for this scope. Wouldn't aluminum construction and black color scheme heat the internal optics? Personally I think a less heat conductive material like a plastic and lighter color scheme would make it a better scope. Might be fine in January but during the hot Japanese summer time.... hope people who buy this wear gloves.... Also, love that you use the Japanese term "Appli" and not the usual US/UK "app".
You make a good point about the color. LUNDT solar scopes are white, probably for that very purpose. I guess the SVBony product managers never thought about that issue. Somehow I doubt the "heat-factor" will have too much of an impact on the performance of an inexpensive acromat scope like this. But I could be wrong. As for my choice of words, I probably do that much more than I realize after living here for 23+ years! Thanks for watching!
Greetings and thanks for watching Astrophotography Japan. The two simplest problems might be (1) failure to remove the front lens protection cover (the filter is silver, not black), or (2) a poor alignment of the finder scope and the optical tube assembly (OTA). The latter is most likely. Be sure the screws on the finder scope are tightened down securely. But even then, this is a cheap scope and the finder scope screws may actually be slightly out of alignment. This means that the finder is not properly calibrated to the view in the eyepiece. If you start with the sun centered on the bullseye.......you will have to be a little patient moving the scope around in small increments in all directions until you see sun appear in the eyepiece. Then center it and note the position on the bullseye for future reference. If that does not help, we can move on to something more radical in diagnosing the issue. Sorry if my comments are too basic, but I have no way of judging your experience with telescopes.....

Good work!
It was interesting to see what that inexpensive little scope could achieve. Thanks for watching!

Did not know that! Thank you. I heard of PIPP but never used it. Thanks for watching.....

In the end credits, I noted that SVBony donated the SV510 telescope to me and asked me to review it. So in a sense, it was sponsored.
Oh! It shows that I did not read the small print a the end of the video.

@@jpastroguy To be honest, I don’t know as only saw the app. Might be worth contacting the app support.
OK. Understood. I have sent a message to SVBony Customer Service. Thanks!
