This is chilling. He skates into an unavoidable abyss and ceases to exist. Imagine this from his perspective. No contest, no racing, no friends, no rivals, nobody but the slope and the abyss of nothingness.
he lived a life full of hopes and dreams and aspirations, he went to school, spent time with his family and friends, and all of that got snuffed out in a fraction of a second
Actually this reminds me of the time half of the race track didn't load in an online game when my internet lost connection for a few mins. The other half was not only invisible but it didn't even have collision either. It felt like it was deleted. It felt wired and I fell into the bottomless pit because I got caught off guard since I expected the race track to have fully loaded.
Yeah clicking the hashtag right now gets me a ''Sorry, this isn't available on UA-cam'' message. I'm also not able to see the comments I was replying too anymore at the moment.
This honestly looks like a arg/analog horror which is what I thought it was at first but then I realized this is a thing that’s actually happening and I just thought that at this rate the gaming community is just being sweeped under by the burden of corporations, businesses and greedy companies. It’s really sad to realize that
Honestly that's why I'd rather watch someone stream these online only games. I'd rather not own or ever play the game if I won't be able to play it anymore in a few years. I tend to replay games a lot so that's why this is a huge problem for me. This bothers me the most with games you actually pay for. If a game is free to play I'm more tolerant towards it but it still annoys me and makes me feel unsettled and sad. A few of the online only free to play games I used to play actually had closed. I remember playing a mobile Tokyo Ghoul game from time to time and one day when I decided to play it again, after I updated the game it had a message saying that they closed the game and there's no way to play it anymore now. Another online game that I experienced closing down was Sonic Runners which got closed down in a year. At least that game got the good ending since there are fan made costume online servers now. Sega Heroes on the other hand, doesn't have that and it got closed down in less than a year so yeah. I hope that in the future online games won't fully close down and there will be a way to make your own hosted private servers which work without the official ones. Also I hope that offline games won't get delisted or obligatory online connection for no reason either. It really sucks when you can't play your favorite game anymore after the servers close down or it gets delisted :(
These people themselves have brought their lives to something like cyberpunk, but without neon, where corporations mercilessly take away their product with an expiration date and make surprised faces as to why this is happening. And then they start to panic and sob loudly at the top of their voices all over UA-cam..
these are just passion projects to spread awareness. it's a very REAL issue that is not an ARG. we're just doing it in a fun and creative way. Enjoy the art but do take the message seriously
I want to underscore something. By the time The Crew was taken down, it had a player base of a several hundred. Sure, there could have been a single player mode, but game was designed to be played entirely online. Nothing lasts forever, especially a ten-year-old game, so what is the point if the ‘game preservation’ argument is flawed? Overall, online games require ongoing maintenance and server support, which can be expensive and less sustainable in the long term for game companies. Additionally, player engagement decreases because of newer, contemporary products on the market. Even if you disagree, The Crew is already immortalized by the internet.
Nobody is saying that everlasting support from developers is a one size fits all solution. Ross Scott said that games that can’t maintain servers should make it easy for fans to make their own servers, or at least not to go out of their way to make it complicated.

Halo still has LAN parties because the software is un locked .
Whether this is because of hackers or not is unknown.
