This was a time of “the changing of the guard” with NASCAR. Junior Johnson represented the old school type NASCAR teams and Rick Hendrick represented the new school “business minded teams.” Even Darrel himself had said the 2 teams were as different as night and days. This story right here is just a classic example of how the bigger money coming into the sport lead to its rise and now sadly it’s decline because the big money multi car teams lead NASCAR away from the teams, tracks, and drivers that made it great entertainment
