It’s funny how most fans never gives a manager credit when he does well but are quick to critic when play bad, this manager has made England relevant simple you can hate the manager but you can’t knock his record in big tournaments. It will take a miracle to win in the final but for me manager has been consistent in competitions
They have had easy draws and have the best players.. They have underperformed in literally every tournament game.... Th saving grace is in Europe the best teams historically are going through huge downturns... and England still struggle...
what do u mean fans never give credit to good managers lol? ppl r always debating who’s the greatest manager and I’ve never heard anyone talk about who the worst manager ever is. Koeman was awful for Barca but he’s had respect given back for his Netherlands performances. in the end of the day, u get credit for what u do not for what u don’t. so what he’s got them past the quarterfinals how many times? he won nothing and it’s not worth celebrating until it’s won. trust me when I say this, every English fans will be jubilant if they win and will not care one bit about no “Southgate out” or “boring football”. they want to win and saying Southgate should be sacked is an observation not hate or undeserved criticism
go and look at the opposition weve faced in previous tournamnets. we should have at least 1 major trophey with this run. a good manager would have got us a couple by now
Fair play Southgate, especially glad for the players, I do think we are cooking now
(A copy and paste)
Here are some stats.....
In the FIVE tournaments prior to Southgate this was the record:
2008 - Didnt qualify - zero games, no wins.
2010 - 4 games, 1 win v Slovenia. Thumped by Germany 4-1 in the second round.
2012 - 4 games, 2 wins v Sweden and Ukraine. Out to Italy on pens in the QF (4th match)
2014 - 3 games, ZERO wins, out in the group stages
2016 - 4 games, 1 win v Wales. Lost to Iceland in the second round.
That is 15 games - 4 wins . Over FIVE tournaments.
Contrast that with Southgate's FOUR tournaments:
2018 - 7 games, 4 wins - lost to Croatia in the SF
2021 - 7 games, 5 wins - lost on pens in the FINAL
2022 - 5 games, 3 wins - lost to France in the QF
2024 - 7 games - so far 4 wins - reached another FINAL.
That is 26 games, 16 wins - in one fewer tournament.
Goals scored by England in four tournaments 2010-2016: 14
Goals scored by England in four tournaments 2018-2024: 43
what does that matter if he’s won nothing? do u think the squad he’s been working with for years is less talented than the squad in 2015? ofc not. he reaches this far because he is insanely defensive but once meets a threatening squad who do more than just counter, he fumbles.
@@ephraimcharles3195 Spot on and il add that luck with the side of the last two comps drawing
Rory...England have reached a WC SF and QF. Also, a Euro Final and potential win on Sunday under Southgate...shut that hole beneath your nose!
The guy is a moron. It's not all or nothing. If we lose he's still been a very good England manager albeit one who couldn't quite get us over the line. People have such short memories. When I was a kid I just wanted to see us get past the bloody quarter finals! (First tournament Euro 2004). Now I've seen us get to two finals and a semi as well as a quarter. We hadn't won a knockout game in 10 years when Southgate started! 12 years really since he had to wait two years for the first available knockout game. Some fans are spoilt.

Italy at home in the last Euros final was a disgrace. One nil up in front of 80,000 England fans and parks the bus. That is either a lack of confidence in his players...or himself.
Never beat a team ranked higher in 4 tournaments. Ridiculously lucky on tournament draws... Playing in era where historically great footy nations are poor.... They have the best players and struggle every game... Absolutely no tactics have helped england qualify , individual brilliance... nothing more... They should win this tournament at a canter ....
I’m convinced many “English fans” would rather the team have been eliminated so they “could be proven right” and moan for weeks on end. Rather than actually see the team win and get to another final. All this talk about “deserving” to advance and win needs to stop because it’s completely irrelevant. Knockout tournament football is all about results, period. So many people look like bitter clown because the team is actually in the final.
We’ve already made a final and these players should be beating the teams we’ve drawn against so far, the real test comes on Sunday because this is the first game on paper we’re not expected to win.
Who? You just made that up. I'm not a Southgate fan, but we all want England to win
@@darrenporter1850 It's been a pretty common theme in the UA-cam comments. Even Simon Jordan said it the other day.
If we win I will be made up for southgate but I’ll still want him to retire after the tournament becuase he will have won it on pure luck and we won’t be as lucky again in the World Cup it’s impossible 😅 that’s not being bitter it’s just realistic
Rory thinking that going out at the group stage and losing the final on penalties is exactly the same is the worst take ever really
It's rare I agree with Rory but he's right, Man City get called bottlers every other year in UCL even tho Pep's getting to semi/final every year, it doesn't matter if you don't win, history remembers winners not runners up
Well the FA remember. They are very happy with Gareth’s experience and managerial skills guiding the group.
Spurs fan 52 years..Rory is on the money.. your man there is trying to make getting to 2 finals a success just like Levy keeps defining success as getting into the top 4... Let's be honest... England are Spursy until they win it!
Rory has been on Southgates case for the past two years but recently he seems to have changed his mind.
only cuz he doesn’t know what to do. FA aren’t sacking him so he’s just going to cope. ppl forget that this man fumbled them many tournaments in the past the moment they reach a final
It’s because he, along with other pundits, are finally recognising the managerial skills that Gareth brings to the table.
No matter the result on Sunday, the memories of the last 7 years are timeless.
Only chance for england is if spain gets 2 red cards and the match gets to penalties
Strange that, England have Real Madrid's player of the season, Man City player of the Season and Munich's player of the Season. Plus 2 of Man Cities Defenders and the Premier Leagues top scorer. Plus Man Uniteds most on form Midfielder who just won the FA cup and Chelsea most inform player. Don't know why you writting them off? Spain have Morata up front, failed Striker.
@@darrenporter1850 yeah, that is why they have been playing such attractive football... england tearing other teams apart.
@@paulorganisation1Winning is winning, simple as that. You don't have to "tear teams apart", or whatever drivel you come out with, to win games..but someone with zero football knowledge like yourself wouldn't understand that
there will be a space in the trophy cabinet where the 3rd trophy should sit, alongside the other 2 he bottled.
If you want context then in this context, where we have never seen such poor teams from Italy, Germany, Holland, Brazil etc. and Southgate’s england have thrown it away on multiple occasions
Southgate will be the new USA manager - he’ll get more pay, less hassle and if you’re the USA FA I guarantee Southgate is top of your list to manage at the USA World Cup
He's not going to gain a reputation as a decent manager to then go manage some league one squad of players with premier league club offers
To all those clowns that thought we we're never going to win the Euros 😂
Yeah this is a stupid comment considering we haven't won yet. How is it going to look if we get beaten soundly in the final....will you still be laughing then?
it is practically impossible for England to beat Spain on Sunday
Wrong Rory, that ship sailed after bailing themselves out of the Slovakia and Switzerland games
Southgate deserves criticism. We literally have probably the best or at least the top 3 squads in the world. Portugal and France are probably the only other two squads that are better than ours, but why did France go out? Because they play poor football, and are defensive. Portugal have a poor manager in Martinez.
We have struggled to win every game this tournament even against the likes of Slovenia and Slovakia. We should have gone out to Slovakia and only became of a jude last minute overhead kick, did we not go out. Southgate is beyond lucky to have the squad he has or else he’d be out.
If we win this would change englisch football forever
Massive achievement for ANY team to get to a final. Southgate has got us to two.... our first two since 1966.... we have no divine right to win and need to drop this 'winning it is the minimum' mentality on Southgate.
Mainoo is different gravy
Southgate has done well even though he relies on “moments” from top players in every game against average opposition. If you have done a very good job as a manager then you shouldn’t allow yourself to be in that situation. If we do win this tournament it will be despite of the manager.
Nobody should apologise for the criticism in the early rounds. It was 100% justified!! At the same time, praise Southgate for the last 2 games and getting results.
Nobody will remember how you played if you win it, but if he loses, then it’s a failure! People acting now like Southgate is a master of tournament football. Be realistic. We’ve been VERY lucky! Scraping narrow results and being 30 seconds away from elimination.
Who’s Rory Jennings
the first point that should be mentioned with Southgate is his luck with draws. Its not anything to do with him or his tactics.
Do you think Terry Venables, Sven or Sir Bobby might have got to a final if he had the draws that Southgate had? I do! He has been relegated twice, stank tournaments out, hesitated to make the necessary changes, picked players by reputation. He the Ole of international football. Nice guy out of his depth.
If we win, and I hope we do, it will be despite Gareth Southgate not because of him.
The only credit I give him is Russia where he did his best with a very poor squad. He still froze in the semifinal but I could forgive that. His performance in the Italy final should of resulted in him losing his job.
Nurse, he's out of bed again. You're off your nut mate. Made me laugh though.
Rory is talking nonsense, it is an achievement to get to the final too
Geezer doesn’t know anything about competitive sports. You need to consistently reach latter stages of these tournaments to feel and learn to handle the pressure of these moments. It’s no coincidence we are getting further and further each time. The teams that go on and win consistently used to handling these kinda matches, semis, finals.
lads took the critisim?? lmfao they all threw their toys out of the pram and split the country
Rory is right, we can't keep celebrating coming second. We have the best players and have had the best players for years, we've lost at home to italy, we've lost to an old Croatia team and we lost to France. It's time to shut up and win the thing!
Best players on paper, but it’s not proven in international football yet,
England arguable have this season's best Spanish Player. Top Scorer in Germany. Top English player of season (foden), top 3 Prem Scorers out of the top 6, 2 of Man Citys defenders and arguably Man Uniteds most onform player. Maybe Arsenal best player of season and Chelsea best player of the season.
Well done Southgate, please don't stay on for the world cup though, let's try someone new
The context is: England have the best squad in the world, player for player. And has had (at least close to) for the past 3 major tournaments. Getting to the last euros final was not a success, it was a devastating failure. England could have, and should have, won every tournament that southgate has been in charge of. We have lost all of them so far. Thats the context that matters. If we dont win on sunday, it will be yet another catastrophic failure.
Don't worry everyone - Rory will flip-flop again when he hears Southgate has been offered a 2 year extension!
Check Rory's Haaland take - worst take in the history of punditry. And Southgate should be gone either way.
Hugh must be paid by the FA the amount he's shilling for them
Everyone will back off Southgate if he starts palmer and Watkins and drops Kane and one other
The new buzz word, ‘Moments’………what a load of MSM tosh.
Spain 5x0 England
How is Rory on talk sport talks pure waffle
Fail once, fail again, fail better. The only way England can sit comfortably with the big dogs is to consistently get to finals, and to win 1 in 3/4 of them. One final in 50 years isn’t enough, even if we win it, but getting to finals and not winning won’t make the history books either. If we want to be seen as a football powerhouse, we have to be knocking on the door and breaking through as often as possible. But we will beat Spain on Sunday, so it’s fine.
The idea Southgate’s doesn’t need to win this is ridiculous.
You can’t make the argue that it’s a good platform to build on when he’s already reached a semi and a final euros. If now isn’t the time then when is it?
England are not a team that gets to finals... because they have never been favourites to get to finals ... They are reaching finals when the other major European countries are pretty poor based on their history... Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland are all going through poor spells in their history and even other teams like Croatia are on the downturn. They have struggled against rubbish teams. They hav got lucky time and time again with the draw and still have yet to beat a team ranked higher than them in tournaments .
I’m tired of the weak/lack of belief English mentality.. being ok with mediocrity. Our team is loaded with talent and has been for years. We should believe we can win. That’s the minimum goal, but we’ve always let fear get in our way. Why not the English. And yes, getting to finals is not success. No one remembers second place. And taking second doesn’t feel good. Just get out there and believe you will win. The English can do it!
For all the England fans saying it's their destiny to win because how they reached the final, do you remember the last Euros? England had a smiliar easier part of the draw & reached the final only to be beaten by Italy, the same thing will happen against Spain just more decisively & convincingly (Spain 3 England 1)
Jesus, couldnt be more obvious this lads an arsenal fan... specialists in failure.
Are Croatia a team that historically makes it to Semi finals and finals? No. This is the most baked bean brained take that keeps getting recycled. History is irrelevant. Where were Man City 20 years ago? Come on.
More complete and utter horse poo from Rory.
I started this video.
Then the idiot spoke about an apology and im done with that talk.
Southgate got it right last match.
Wrong before that. How hard is that to get?
Talk about sorrys to southgate u show yourself to be silly
If England set up properly......
Southgate is an average manager. Some great English players, undeserved penalty against Holland. Bad selections, bad coaching.
Kane not fit, why play him. Luke Shaw not fit, why play him.
If England beat Spain, down to the players , more than Southgate.
If it’s down to the players if they win then how is it all the managers fault if they lose??
Surely that accountability works both ways
Yoshi you are all over the comments crying!!
Take a break you’re not a football fan
He won’t do it, but it’s the perfect opportunity to introduce Gordon. Spain will have wingers running at us, we don’t have that. Esp since our left side is impotent. If Gordon was Spanish he’d be playing in their side.
The 3 lions should win it based on the players they have(world 🌎 class) but whoever shows up on the day will win
Rory is right all day long
The criticisms of Southgate are warranted. Let's be real here: English fans were baffled by his appointment at the time. It wasn't based on merits but on nepotism. England's victories are expected, considering the quality of the players both on and off the field. Should England win this competition, it will be long remembered as a result of the players, not the manager.
England have to win it. Reaching a final is just the start.
