- I got to play test dilophosaurus for the first time during the private stress test for The Isle Evrima. First impressions aren't always everything, but I'll admit, I'm pretty impressed.

Hi there! Pachy is pronounced wrong on purpose, due to issues with the correct pronunciation setting off alarm bells with UA-cam's automatic censorship as it sounds exactly like a slur used in the UK against Pakistani people. I'd rather mispronounce it than get demonetized or banned from UA-cam because the bot doesn't care if I'm talking about dinosaurs or not!
Dilo is pronounced wrong in this video because I keep getting people in my comment section of every video lately telling me how to pronounce things and I decided to drive them all mad today (check my previous dilo livestreams where I pronounce it correctly).
And for those in the back since I didn't see one in this particular video: deino is always gonna be pronounced wrong because it's confusing if I talk about seeing a land "dino" or seeing "dinos" near the water.

@@dinomettatechnically if we are going based off the species full name “dillo” IS correct for Dilophosaurus, as that’s how the full name is pronounced. Either way, the vid was lovely.

You're forgetting the part where Dilo can tank like 4 Carno/Cerato bites now and is faster than the raptor.
Evrima Dilo is an upgrade from its Legacy version in almost all aspects, it doesn't need to also see you from 5 km away at night like it did in Legacy.

@@karenboy1005 I would rather have the night vision than the speed or hp, plenty of dinos can be fast or tank multiple bites, but what one major factor that made dilo specifically fun in legacy is its super night vision.
it was always so much fun to be scared of their warbles in Legacy. cant wait for it to return :D

Remember that no playable that has came out has been perfected from the gate
When cera came out it was op bc of the vomit lock, but they reversed back on it and now it's pretty balanced
So dilo would most likely not be a different case and any issues that exist within it would be probably addressed

Honestly having fought them last night as a carno juvie they are relatively squishy even through sub and I don't find the venom to be super difficult to counter. The most annoying thing about it is how long the venom lasts once the fight is over or disengaged. Currently it seems to take sitting and waiting upwards of 20 minutes which seems very excessive.
It takes 10 minutes right now. And sub dilo only weighs about 250, which is why they're so weak at that age

My biggest critique of Dilo is the venom fog NEEDS to fade faster. Long after I've escaped or won the fight I still can't see or hear anything for what seems like 10-15 minutes.
Yeah I heavily agree. Should be 2-3 minutes. No longer than a head fracture imo
The fact it is the fastest carnivore (Except carno), its venom and fast bite with quite biteforce and 700 kg (700 hp, i may be wrong i dont remember how u calculated that) and poor bloodpool really balances Dilo, with the new stam that gonna be probably getting more tweaks over time omnis will have quite a chance with dilos. Dilo is quite fragile, but fast and strong. Its most likely to be an ambush predator and if dilo is skilled a 1v1 would do it. Quite challenging to get the venom on, Which means that for a good and succesfull hunt a dilo would need to lure the prey (bait attack) and then get bites on it, and then just use the venom and eventually some bites.
Yeah, I think dilo is going to be quite an enjoyable playable overall. Not too crazy strong, but not so weak that it'll be a pushover if it gets the jump on you in the dark!

the only think that really boders me its why can´t jump?? at least a small one, thats weird duo dilo light weight and speed...
I wish it could! Even if it's small it'll help prevent some stuck situations

I hope dilo and herrera dont overshadow things like omni or cera or even carno, at least with their bite attacks, reason I say that is because right now they both bite about twice as fast as an omni or cerato, which is kinda crazy considering dilos bite is apparently stronger than omnis as well, not to mention cerato was intended to have a “fast” bite even though carnos bite was simply reduced in 6.5 which is fine imo since carno does alot of damage
Dilo is weak against Omnis or anything with good bleed due to the fact they have really poor bleed resistance.

2 of us grew tenos today. Ofc we ran into a pack of about 10 dilos. My problem with dilos is they tear through your stam insanely quick. Within 2 min of the fight, we both were out of stam. We are both pretty good players and know how to ration our stam, but it was gone so quick. I never saw anywhere that it said it took away stam, but it seemed to do the same thing to your ai tenos. If that's the case dilo will kill everything on the isle if it can get a few bites in and your stam is gone. I'm not 100% sure yet, needs more testing.
I haven't fought them yet, but yikes 10???? I can't imagine much of anything surviving that many dilos with any level of stam left right now. Especially if they themselves just stand back and throw hallucinations.
Pro tip though, the hallucinations can't cross water, or couldn't previously, and I believe they can't get up to you if you've jumped up onto a rock.
In a pinch (and if possible), seek high ground or swim for the nearest small island.

It's venom duration needs to be dialed back. It lasts longer than a leg break and that's a huge problem IMO. It should be on par with vomit sickness or food poisoning. Not having your scent for like 10 minutes is the worst of it.
I agree. I'd like to see it cut down to 3 minutes max if it hasn't been refreshed with a new bite
Also does anyone realize that all of dilos 1call variants sound the same just at different pitches, despite that there were at least 2 variants, at least in Dondis streams, the one on the test map is what we’ve heard (or at least me) but I haven’t heard the one that he did in the gateway stream with the rain, which kinda disappointed me cuz I liked that variation better. Also I can link the video for the stream if needed!

I take issue with your take on the fights with the pachy. You say that if you face tanked it you would have won but that's assuming the pachy had a death wish instead of just walking off. You'd die before you recovered from your injuries.
It's a great video. I think the best on the Dilo. But I think people are very mistaken on how effective the Dilo will be. Dilo solo will fall to Omni and Carno. Can't turn enough and will need to run from Troodons. And it can't solo pachy.
Doesn't make it useless but I think people are going to find it's limitations to be more than the current feedback is selling. The dinos that can take Dilo down are very meta.
I was talking with player at the time. He was low enough he told me I could have face tanked him.
@dinometta yea I don't disagree that you could. I just mean that if he wasn't doing this as a test. (And thankyou for doing it. Honestly it's the most informative thing anyone has done). But if not for it being for science he wouldn't have face tanked you. With a broken leg and back he would have ran off and probably let you starve while healing your injuries.
@@stryfegamingonline7583 Oh, yes, that's true. Dilo has an incredibly long hunger timer though. Healing up the fractures would have taken a bit, but it's unlikely that I would have starved!

I’ve come to learn that dilos are extremely confident but only in packs. Was on my 46% Stego and 2 dilos (80% and 60%) tried to hunt me. By themselves.
The 80% got walloped in the face and died instantly (duh) and then I sleep after that so that I get a W and take it to. The 60% who was hiding behind a hill after their friend died then tried to kill me when I was 5 seconds away from safe logout. Needless to say they didn’t succeed and I logged out with my Stego successfully
Also got jumped by 4 dilos ( 2 adults and 2 juvies) while playing pachy before hand. You know how that one went

I fought off an adult cerato with one while solo the other day, but he thought attacking me at night during a rainstorm was a smart plan.
When morning came I backed off to heal and finished him off when he showed his face again the next night x]
I wouldn't touch a stego without back up though. Need more hallucinations and more bites. Too high risk alone imo
@@dinometta well he was kinda stupid. Today I was a 68% Cerato and a pack of dilos (not sure about numbers since it was night but there were at least 1 adult 2 subs and 1 juvie based on skins) decided to hunt me. I survive the initial attack using cerato’s quick alt bite and I kill one of the subs. When I go to heal by sitting down the adult dilo comes to finish me off with 2 hallucinations biting me once and the real adult dilo biting me 3 times. Dilo isn’t super strong but always watch your back when you’ve think you’ve survived the fight
@@dinometta also Stego is extremely vulnerable to packs of dilos at night if there is no water due to its poor night vision
So are the AI tennos out now? Someone said they removed them and increased other ai spawns, but I don’t see increased normal AI. Also deer are despawning immediately once you kill them, I can’t say whether it happens to everyone or just Dilos.
If ai die to venom/bleed, the bodies disappear. It's a known bug unfortunately.
Not sure about the teno AI, if they were removed or not. Ai spawning seems a bit off since the update went live.

@@DriplessDX Unfortunately you've just gotta keep trying. Initial update drops are always chaotic. It'll be a few days to a few weeks before things settle. Worst case scenario, check out the unofficial servers! They're not usually picked over as quickly
How do you use the venom I was trying to use it and couldn’t figure it out. I’ve only been using left click to fight

Yup, not crazy OP, not ridiculously weak. May need venom times adjusted a bit because 10 minutes is a bit over the top imo, but we shall see as the ecosystem settles
Just wondering if there is required growth percentage to use your venom like the troodon? Or do you start with venom ability?
You start with venom. I wouldn't be surprised if that changes, however, as people are already taking advantage of it to get venom started on larger dinos that can't see them coming in the grass.

Yes, it is out now! The first few days are usually a bit buggy, especially trying to get into a server. Sometimes if you're lucky you can catch one as it crashes, but it's a bit touch and go

I love the map honestly, but I have a lot of issues as well, I think the map is way too big for a 100 player cap on official servers I hardly see anyone on full servers and then the AI spawn for carnivores is worse than spiro and very random too. No one seems to actually be in the migration and sanctuary zones and no ai there either, I died 9 times as a dilo tonight due to just starvation..literally hours of sprinting around and nothing. I hear migration zone and I picture herds of animals like the scene in jurassic park not an empty field. I also think teno ai should not be a thing or not be a playable. And one last thing the dilos venom wont be much of a problem considering the map is either night or coverd in fog and storms most the time
Yeah, currently with everyone playing mostly dilo the herbivore population is literally dead. It'll settle eventually, but I do hope they can increase server cap eventually
I’m don’t think AI teno should be a thing. They should add animal ai, I never said they have to be small either.

Dilo don't look to be a 1vs1 good dino but with pack i think its gonna be deadly.
4 can take down an adult stego if they attempt it on a cloudy night or with no moon. A pack is vicious

It also drives me bonkers the way the Isle players say it, but I 100% understand why. Because youtube can and will slap them with temp/perm bans even though its clearly not what they meant.
And any creator with out a huge following (like less than millions) is usually just banned with zero way to fight back.

I haven't faced a troo pack yet, but it makes sense. Dilo's alt attack is slow, he struggles to hit small, fast moving targets, and his turning radius is not great for dealing with more agile animals

It is genuinely beyond me why they coded the teno ai to not use the kick, its strongest attack that would actually make it somewhat harder to fight. When it knocks you down, instead of kicking the shit out of you, it slaps you around with its pool noodle arms that can't even finish off a raptor. Then again, you need to have an actual understanding of the game's balance and be somewhat good at the game to be able to code ai that can fight back properly, and this game's ai coder doesn't even know the stats of the creatures, so it's not surprising.

For me, the dilo is a bit of a disappointment. Fights should not be prolonged. Because someone else can casually appear and take your food. I don't think dilo is good at keeping food. To kill in the shortest possible time and to eat as quickly as possible and then disappear.
The servers are now full of dilo and herrera players. For example, I didn't even see deino, stego, carno, pteranodon, omni, teno players. But nothing else. There were a few ceras, but that's about it. I hope that this hype will die down soon, because at the moment the gaming experience is very unbalanced. People are happy that they can kill each other (let's say that's what this game is about, but in this case there is no other option, since there is no prey), and that they can climb trees like monkeys. I mean, it's funny and quite useful. But mostly this is only good for observation. You can get to places that were previously unreachable. Rock outcroppings, high peaks, and trees. But none of these will get you ahead in catching your prey.
But it remains to be seen what this all brings to the game in the long run. I don't know when the herbivores will come. Because now meat eaters are absolutely in the majority. In any case, the majority of players are more thirsty for blood than to graze on plants. I wouldn't have believed it, but I'm crying the deins back into the rivers. Today I swam several times across a river that I would not have dared yesterday. But I knew that almost certainly no one would swim as a crocodile.
The update literally just dropped last night. Of course everyone and their dog is currently trying out the new toys. Same thing happened when cera and troodon dropped.
Be patient. It'll settle back down and the ecosystem will diversify again soon.

Ill be the one to say it. Herrera and divorce both are extremely underwhelming and not worth the wait we all waited for. Herrera needs a actual grapple pounce from above, and dilo well. Dilo is just extremely underwhelming it feels cheap imo and the hallucinations only help so much.

I wasn't able to participate, but a group of 4 dilos wiped out an adult stego in a very short amount of time earlier today. Don't count dilo out yet. I'm not sure on herrerra though, they're really not my style of gameplay so I've done very very little with them.
@dinometta the bite and run mechanic seems so dull and cheap to me. I was hoping for something more like raptor with dilo tbh but ig I'll just wait another 6 months before I see another new Dino lol
