I bought a toned paper sketbook yesterday! I got a really cheap one from dymocs priced at 8.99 and the brand was art-etc kraft pad (form Australia) And this video was really good.
Wow that’s a lot of great information for tools for using on the toned paper. I really appreciate you sharing all the different mediums that can be used. As a recent self taught/educated watercolor artist Im trying this medium and paper for the first time in a few days. Just finished ordering all the colors of Strathmore Mixed Media Toned Papers (Tan, Grey/Gray, & Blue). Thanks for sharing this wonderful informational video with us.
I love classic sketching, the mediums and techniques they used around the renecnce. The best dry Sanguine and Sepia is made by Conte and the best Oil pencils, are made by Kohinoor. (In it's 5.6mm version that I use most, they call the Sanguine "Russet Sepia" . Kohinnor also makes the best Dark Sepia pencil, which is phenomenal on landscapes and urban sketching. As for white. I use General white charcoal and Derwent Drawing white for the oil sketches. For Black, I use the Conte Pierre Noire and Faber Castell Pitt Oil. Ivory,Cream and Tan tone papers, or the Traditional White from Fabriano Artistico Hot pressed, are the papers I'd suggest.
I have a sketchbook from strath more 400 serie,s that i am using right now cause it was laying in my bedroom. I use 3 diffrent mediums for my drawing. I use acrylic paint from liquitex basics, soft pastels and charcole pencils. I don,t use normal ereaser. I like to use only kneeded ereasers, like black drawing pencils,i use acrylic paint from liquitex basics, i use soft pastels from the brand mungyo and i use boahong water colour blocks 300gsm. I normaly use a cheap white paged sketchbook and a cheap A3 sketch block.
I’m liking the cretacolor white oil pencil for whites that are a shade darker or to lighten the toned paper a shade or two. I’d also like the Caran d’ache white pastel but I’ve got the Conte pencil so I probably don’t need it right now.
One of the most famous painting but I did not see it. The painting that uses watercolor or acrilyiec painting The brush used for the branches of the trees and where did you get it? I want to recommend my favorite artists Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Frida Kahlo, Roberto Matta Gabino amaya cacho and Pablo Picasso.
I’ve used Conte and General’s and Nero and I wouldn’t do it again. I like to keep my sketches in the book and I carry my book a lot so the chalks and conte smear on the facing page. Doesn’t really hurt the drawing but it looks messy. The Nero is the best because of the oil. This paper is much better for ink. Water based pen with a water brush for shading/blending. Watercolor wash works but does buckles the paper.

Will a mechanical pencil also work the same as graphite pencil?
