I love that my fathers music is still alive today and being appreciated. God really blessed Bobby Enriquez with an exceptional gift! Thank you so much for posting this...his grandchildren get to see how their grandfather played!
Scott Morris was my drum teacher of 3 years, I loved the guy. Spoke to him moments before he passed. He called to ask me to fill in for him at his gig because he wasnt feeling well. This happened almost 10 years ago. I'll always miss ya Scott, amazing person and great friend. Lucky I can come to youtube and hear him play.
These players are unbelievable. Let me say this.... one of my favorite players ever. Bobby Enriquez.... the Wild Man on piano will always be my favorite. Listen to this guy!!!!!!!!!
That was Over The TOP!! I saw Bruce Forman for the first time in the early 80's at an outdoor gig in San Jose,CA. He floored me! Since, I've never understood Why he wasn't and hasn't been more of a household name? Maybe it's the way he prefers it?? Anyway... thanks for posting this Awesome clip! Regards, R~
this group used to play sf great american music hall for a dollar or something, around that time. i didn't have that much more for entertainment. what a treat.
Great film clip...great JAZZZZZ!! Man that painist....dig, dig, dig that pianist!!! Ya Bobby! Then came Bruce...oh my, oh my! That boy ain't shy! The drums and bass are right on and beyond!!! Richie...well, what can one say but...Richie Cole..there is only one...the best!!! What a group! Outstanding jazz! "Well done" to say the least!
I remember Richie when we grew up in Trenton NJ. When kids he used to come jam Lansi's lounge and Greenwood tavern then got picked up by Buddy Rich and became a monster player y'all know the rest of the story. I left Trenton 1977 moved Hawaii there saw Bobby playing Keonis on Lewers street. Ofcoarse I was blown away. I'm a percussionist and Owen was on congas there. Another monster player. I wish I had a time machine. Thanks Mahalo for posting this great Clip. Made my day. Aloha ❤
Richie Cole's Quintet are sharpshooters. When they pulled the triggers, it explodes like fireballs. They are all masters playing their instruments..Very good musicians!
excellent rendition of yardbird suite! haven't heard of a groovy jazz standard for awhile and man... this is awesome! feeling the music and having fun! COOL!
i have ben watching this video and "hi fly" live at the vanguard every day when i get home from work for the last week and a half i grab beer and turn on my computer just cant get enough, i saw these MO FOs at concerts by the sea back in Redondo Beach [LA AREA] in the early 80s they are the best. as for the 9 dislikes take the shit out of your eyes and ears!
Straight from the off this Live track is a killer. With every artist doing their thing at an elite level. It truly is amazing. Bobby Enriquez is a Wizard of the ivory’s. . Charlie Parker would have been proud of this one 🙏🏽. RIP Richie Cole, and thank you for the music.
The late Bobby Enriquez [aka] "The wild man" of his antic..I love his interesting quote during one on one interview to him in Asia Magazine that I read I guess in the early 90's..It goes like this, " I don't need to read the notes of anybody, 'coz and I got a million of them." Hes a mentor and Philippines pride. ☺ ♫ ☺ ♫ ☺ ♫ God Bless his soul!
I saw Bobby "Wild Man" Enriquez several times back in the day. This clip doesn't even do him justice. I saw him drive some huge crowds absolutely wild!
I remember catching Richie and this gang at the time in Trenton. Some of these cuts were released on a Muse LP. I had no idea there was a video. Thanks.
Didn't they call Bobby the Wild Man from Mindanao? I got to see all these guys around the SF scene in the '70s. Scott Morris is another cat that was taken way to young. Listen to those cymbal rides. How could you not burn with that going on behind you? Richie and Bruce... WOW! Great posting, thanx.
Damn it! All my Body System are Swaying from head to foot !THE BEST JAZZ GROUP. IT SEEMS THEY ALL CAME FROM THE CORE OF THE EARTH Cole turn to very hard coal....The Diamond !
happy birthday Richie!!! 29/2/1948 nace el saxofonista alto Richie Cole un músico creativo de suave sonido. Tuvo la originalidad de crear una orquesta “Alto Madness” pensada para 18 músicos pero con 7.
Bobby is amazing. Piano prodigy at age 2, professional by 12, sneaking out of his bedroom window at night when 14 to play gigs. Self-taught!. Taken from us too soon at 53!
@NDguy191 Well regardless of how he looks, it's Bruce Freakin' Forman and he's one of the best jazz guitarists out there! I don't personally care about what he looks like as long as the sound is there.
Whether you like the frenzied interpretation ( I do) or not, the sheer facility Cole, Rodriguez et. al. have over their instruments is just astonishing. No hesitation, no fumbling about. Listen in wonder.
yeah! and Richie and Bobby together is like dying and going to heaven! Those two should have married each other, lol! What a divine combination, a music union made in jazz heaven... I sure miss Bobby! He was crazily terrrrrriffic!
First thing....that is one great piano player! Second thing...i love of the sound of that guitar player. thrid.....Richie, his sound is reminisent of charlie parkers. i quite like it. i like the sound he has. and i like parker's sound, and phil woods. My teacher has a mix of a charlie parker and phil woods. with a little of gary foster thrown in. its amazing. but still....richie's sound it amazin. Obviously richie chose the cream of the crop to be in his band.
shoot, sorry, didnt make it to the computer in time. But ill make sure to put his performance on the Tube when our DVD gets finished. He and Mike had a dueling alto-tenor solo in Doxy, it was crazy.
I absolutely love this song! Frickin amazing tho, thousands of times better than the band I'm in, we learned this song. How the hell do they all move their fingers so fast? Its scary O.o
