I just recently discovered the sensational Statesmen and now I'm totally hooked. I agree with Elvis that they are the greatest southern gospel group ever.
What a happy bouncy sound. Can’t be duplicated today. Hear the roots of rock and roll in there too. I heard Hovey say one time he wasn’t a good piano player. I think he was refreshing, innovative and could play any style. He was one of the greatest!
Hovie was a great singer, piano player, and an innovator ! I love his style of music !

Who cares whom you agree with?
I love how Hovie throws a little boogie-woogie on the piano. Big Jim Hamill was having fun too.
I didn't notice Big Jim Hamill at the end. Just think. ALL of these men are up in Heaven singing again!.

I agree! It's too bad they didn't do this on one of their live albums.
