It’s terrible how in order to actually witness skillful and entertaining punditry you have to dive into the RTE archives because it is non-existent today
Joe Brolly is bloody well spot on. It's teams like Tyrone that are ruining the name of Gaelic Games, and this shows the difference between hurling and football. I have been watching hurling and football for 10 years now, and I have never seen a foul as bad as that in hurling, and if I have, it was never gone punished unfairly.
True, but if the GAA did become widespread/global like other sports such as cricket or rugby it would be an amazing thing. I do agree with that though.
+Brendan O'Hare I am afraid i have to agree with you.Ciaran Mcdonald laid pipes all over ireland and he was probably the last of the ordinary working men to play GAA at a high level
Christy Dolan I agree with you I’m from mayo and I went to Tyrone playing U16 and the matches r reffed much differently they r let play on for madness challenges my helmat was cracked with a wild pull but there’s was no free or card
You can never blame a player for committing a foul to stop a clear chance or goal. You have to blame the referee for not penalising the player following the incident. That's the clear and obvious point that none of these pundits made.
Ffs I watched this 10 times at least over the years and it still cracks me up. There was fuck all Sean could do but joes reaction was priceless. The way he sits slumped in the chair with his arms folded at the end and throws that tennis remark into it gets me every time. Fair play to ya Joe. Maybe paddy power will give ya your money back lol. One of the best bits of craic in the gaa studio ever. No! No! Hold on! I could be wrong 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🇮🇪🙌🏻
Brolly has a point it was a dirty game and the tackle was a disgrace it isn't rugby.MONAGHAN would have scored a goal and from the final score would have won the game.
I think Joe is right; he's very passionate about his views and is very idealistic in some ways, but I give him credit for speaking his mind without being afraid to offend anyone. Also, I believe the gentleman on the far right is Colm O'Rourke, and, frankly, given the way Meath kicked, punched and boxed their way to winning games from 86 to about 96/97, I'm not surprised at his reaction to the game. PS: Indignant Royal County fans, before you start slagging me off, do check the highlights of the Leinster Finals Vs Dublin in 1986 and the All-Ireland Final in 1996 as just two examples of what I'm saying. The latter game was stopped for 5 minutes due a mass brawl instigated by Royal County players in order to get Mayo's young star sent off...
While I see your point as a good gaa fan I can say Meath were hard and on the edge but not cynical, negative or playing with pre meditated spoiling tactics, Joes point is fair but he is fuming in delivering that, in fairness rugby or soccer would punish individual cynical fouls much stronger
Colloquial Soliloquy No Kerry and Dublin shouldn't be split. It is up to other teams to be better and close the gap on Dublin not by making excuses and saying Dublin should be split into 2 teams.
@@maitiucairns6059 There is a lot of very humble and talented people that are either from Dungiven or currently reside in it. Dungiven is a wonderful place and you'll never find anywhere as good as it when it comes to community spirit.
Joe is spot on about the gamesmanship and cynical fouling.... He recognised in hindsight that he was over the top about Sean Cavanagh not being a man and subsequently apologised bit as usual he was on the money about the game and the way it had went
Whether you agree with Joe Brolly or not, you've got to admire his passion. I understand why he's fuming over Cavanagh's foul and i think it should have been a red card, but any player would have done that. If it was an important game and it was tight with not much in it in the second half, I would happily take a red card to stop the opposition scoring a goal
Both sides make a point that is agreeable, Gaelic games is not rugby, what Cavanagh did was bad for the game, even if it helped his team. However Gaelic is also not soccer, the games are physical.
as a monaghan man I will admit, sean cavanagh is a good footballer. he's a big, stong, able and fast fella, and i have no doubt in my mind that if he wanted to, ge could have caught up with mcmanus and tackled him fairly. but he dragged him down like that and got away with it. cost monaghan, a team who already got out of Ulster, a place in a semi final. who was more deservant of that place?? then 2 years later tyrone push the level of cynical play up a notch and physically abused monaghan again in an all Ireland quarter final. everything they did was twice as bad as the 2013 qf game. and people say tyrone is a great team, that mickey harte is a great manager and that hes a religious and good man. I beg to differ. if that man had any moral and religious ethics, then he would not let his team, that he has provoked cynical and unfair play into, go out and abuse opposing teams like they often do. anyone remember the diving incident in the 2003 all ireland final where diarmuid marsden got a red card after philip jordan threw himself down infront of him to divert attention from another tyrone player getting booked? and then he throws the toys out of the pram when sean cavanagh gets one red card, and that red card was a long time coming. mickey harte now knows what its like to have his team targeted, and whats more is that the red card that was given to cavanagh is nothing compared to some of the things that tyrone have done to other teams. until tyrone win an all Ireland or an ulster title fairly and justly, then we can say tyrone is a good team. but until then, they're the dirtiest, most cynical team in the country who will stop at nothing to win, and 97% of the times, its unfair and unjust
Yes let the children play tennis so they can get access to PEDs that allow them to play successfully into their middle and late 30s with no questions asked.
and lester tripping over himself trying to refute what joe correctly called "the evidence of your own eyes". it's been a routine of lester for years, trying to prevent anything "controversial" being said on rte about the gaa. an embarrassment.
Haha, fair play to Joe... Whether you agree with him or not, you've got to admire his passion for the game.
No one:
Joe brolly: HOLD ON
What's that supposed to mean?!
Hold on as in be quiet
Literally the entire studio was trying to interrupt him including Lyster saying "hold on yourself" lol
Every time I get a little bit down i watch this video and become the happiest man alive
GO ON JOE!! The balls to say what needed to be said.
mcbridecfc bullshite that was a professional foul he was right to bring
Him down
Odhran Phelan You obviously don’t understand what it means to have a bit of pride in yourselves

To be fair I think if most people were in Sean Cavanagh's position they would have done the same thing (Kerry fan)

Looking back this in 2021, we didn't realise how right he was. gr8 man
Good man Joe Brolly.
He is correct. Sean Cavanagh is not only good at brining players down . He is good at bringing small companies down.
The amount of money the GAA is getting today should be illegal
And all of it going to waste
bunch of criminals
thats the world for ya explain on what ways example i agree but

+Gavin Forde still
But Tyrone would be a worse team if they just let someone run through and score a goal
Joe Brolly is spot on.Well done.
tbh the black card just made it far worse
Joe Brolly is Passionate here and RIGHT TOO...
I can only imagine what happened off camera😂😂
Their minors were at the same thing last year. The black card rules have been a big success so far, much greater scoring in the league.
