I bought this light about 6 months ago right before Christmas. Along with the IF25a. Both are awesome quality for the price you pay. This one is cool white and my IF25a I chose warm white.
Hello and thank you for all the many good flashlights presentation. Your channel is a real must if you want to compare lamps because you always test the lamps in the same place. This is a very good way to compare lamps with each other. Found two new beautiful lamps and even saved money. Many thanks for your work.
Some people add a magnet to their lights if they don't come with them. I am not aware of a thrower from Sofirn with a magnetic tail cap but there EDC models have them. Thanks for watching!
edit; thank you for your review and well done video. bought 1 and may return it amazon was $53.00 not sure yet, it gets to HOT on High and Turbo. i expected turbo to be hot but 2 min i will check the step down and run times, but high is bright and turbo wow
good video as always i bought this light and am not sure it is defectiv. on turbo it getting really hot after 2:30 minutes and dont stepdown. have you trouble with this?
Hello Charles - No surprise here that you've put up another excellent, concise and comprehensive flashlight review! I have the Noctigon KR1 with a W2 (Osram CSLPM1.TG) emitter and it's thrower performance is outstanding when you take it's size into consideration. How do think this similar Sofirn IF22A beam performance compares to the Noctigon? I especially like the Sofirn's built-in USB-C charger, larger battery, and IPX8 rating, plus the very reasonable discounted price. Thanks!
It really depends on the beam type you want, flood, combination or thrower. Then if size is a concern then get the smaller version of beam type you like. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Thank you for your video. I just bought the Catapult pro and if I would have seen this first I could have gotten two of these and gifted one of them. Who knows!✌🏼️
I am not sure if you mentioned this on any other of your videos before. But, I noticed that this light has Anduril UI? You show how to do the special modes. But, you didn't show how to switch from simple UI to Advance UI. I found this out the hard way. Correct me if I am mistaken, but most lights with the Anduril UI come set from factory to Simple UI. And in Simple UI, you cannot access the special modes. Great video though. .
This model does not have the Anduril UI but uses a simple FET driver. The IF22A has 5 user groups which I show when displaying the manual. Ramping is my preferred setting. Thanks for watching!
@@CharlesBridgTec I just purchased one, mostly because it doesn't have andruil... It's over complicated for me. I like simpler UI. Great reviews, thanks
Just ordered me one also. Someone at work stole my Fenix PD35 which last years… but was only a 1000LM.. so im excited to see this bad boy and only half the price…
I have a Convoy C8 with SST 40, looks like the beam is similar to that perhaps. Not sure though, the light seems more compact, and added advantage of the 21700. Have to think this one over whether to purchase or not, as I see there is no neutral option like the C8 with SST 40, can purchase 6500k or 5000K. I have the 5000K and like that very well. Have to think on this one.
I bought the Sofirn IF22A about a week ago, just picked it up in case of emergency. It looks like they stuck a prism on the tip of the torch, really impressed with it. @Charles BridgTec, I was wondering if you could recommend anything better than the IF22A? The Sofirn brand is the best I've come across, but can you recommend anything better?
For budget lights I can recommend others, but they are in the same price range and quality. WOWTAC, CONVOY and AstroLux are great budget lights. Thanks for watching!
@@CharlesBridgTec I was using it outsides while I was gathering some firewood and it died. Thinking nothing of it, I put it to charge and came back the next morning and it was dead. is there any problem if i change the batteries between a nitecore mh12v2 and a sofirn if22a? that is, to put the battery from nitecore, which has 5000mAh, to if22a and vice versa.
The Nitecore battery is longer due to the protection circuit on the bottom of the cell. The Sofirn battery will need to be a button top cell and might be too short for the Nitecore. Thanks for watching!
Got the IF22A 3 months ago. It's an awesome thrower but not an EDC for me. The IF22 with the SMO reflector has a more useable spill. I like using your beamshots on those distant palm trees as an indication of throw power. Like that little Wuben E6 you 've reviewed. PS.
