My friend and I binge watched the entire series in one sitting, and the minute the AI began to preach about Humanity. We both said, she's probably going to say something like humans are bad because war... And that's exactly what she did... We both let out an audible sigh and just told ourselves we were going to smoke a boatload of pot and just suffer through the rest of the series lol

The Misaki Character was easily the most relatable, For being the most sympathetic while ironically being a machine. Fairly similar to Sam Worthington's Character in T:Salvation. Rosario Dawson's Kokoro felt a little Ultron-ish, For an A.I that's suppose to best Skynet and save Humanity, Ends up killing more and accelerating bad events. Ends up being Friend Or Foe. The Eiko Character was bland, The Character feels like it was originally written as a man, An obvious stand-in for a Kyle Reese type character and even copied The "Parent of a character reveal." Timothy Olyphant as the Terminator was okay, His twist as being Skynet's countermeasure to prevent a competing A.I from winning was an interesting subplot. In the end, Judgement Day still happens but worse because now there's to 2 A.I's battling. With neither side concerned of Human collateral damage to achieve their goals.
@FumeRunner Watch the Genisys scene where a T-800 fights a T-1000, then come back and try the acid argument again. The main characters had plot armor, plain and simple. No human in the history of the franchise has ever been so successful hand to hand with one of those things.
Really? Yes the movie after 2 were f-in bad, but "its so bad its so good" category. Crap movie to laugh at with your friend while having drinks. But terminator zero? Its so bad it sooo boring. -Reuse the same f-in plot, strecthing 1.5 to 2 hours movie experience into 4 hours total length anime series. -The philosophycal talks were just "human bad cuz war bla2, uhh but not all of them are badd.." for every episode, yes i get the concept mf just move on. -Spent half the series chasing a f-in cat. -It got a Meh twist. That i dont give a F -and lot of s*it, that grinds my gear I just dont get it, why this series got a lot of praise. Because its an anime? and weebs will eat that thing no matter what? Yes The animation looks gorgeus, but the plot and story just... same thing over again. I feel scammed out of my time watching this series.
Finally a realistic review. There were so many problems with this story. Boring, not much character development, Malcolm almost never leaving that room with Kokoru, the bad ending, Kokoru talks are tedious, he said Kokoru at least 50 times. Kokoru is a terrible character in general (why 3 of them). Too many things to name. Instead of a shorter show, they should just make it better. Add more action, more tension. Flesh out the characters in an interesting way.
I want to see an iteration with a twist where Skynet and/or the resistance learn that there have already been multiple timelines with tons of devastation, so they send people back not to help one side win the war (which they deem to be impossible) but instead create a more peaceful resolution where there won't be large-scale conflict. Then the show/movie/whatever could be more like a psychological thriller where you don't know who to trust or what's actually going to happen...
The show was boring, the pacing was terrible and the characters annoying. A lot can be done with a good soundtrack, but that didnt happen here either. Overall i wouldnt mind never hearing of it again. So disappointing
yeah i kinda agree with you here, i think there's interesting ideas but they weren't engaging enough for me to care. like most of the characters i find super bland and the story was just like you said, stretched out and the scenes with malcolm were wayyyy too expositiony imo. i don't think the show is bad but it does feel rather generic to me, especially compared to all of the incredible animes that came out in the past year or so like frieren or even pluto last year which i find to be a much better show dealing with ai and human interaction.
I tried watching it two times and couldn't get into it. The third time was the charm though. I actually love it now, and going through a rewatch of the series currently.
It sucks imo the writing doesn’t go anywhere. Malcom creates an AI to protect humanity but when it asks why he’s dumbfounded and can’t provide an answer. Malcom abandons his children to “save the world” when realistically when the world is already doomed he’s still in the room sitting there not even trying to convince kokuro that humanity might be worth saving. The character will straight up tell you what the smart option is then do the opposite because that’s what they have to do to move the plot. Kenta hates Miss Misaki after finding out she’s a cyborg and despite her basically raising them since their mom’s death Kenta treats her like crap anyways. Dumb characters and bad writing and the deep moral questions aren’t truly explored they’re just there to make you think maybe the show gets better by exploring these ideas just for it to fall flat.
Yeah, right off the bat the terminator acts like he's trying not to kill her and she punches and kicks it , as if she could do that do a regular man, let alone a terminator. This could have been such a good show but the writing is so bad.

I feel like as a Terminator story this is pretty decent, but as an anime this is VERY underwhelming. If your dislike for the show is because you're judging it as an anime in general then yeah I can totally see why you didn't enjoyed it. I have a feeling that the people who REALLY loved this show aren't exactly hardcore anime fans, because I don't see it being talked about that much within the anime community if I'm being honest. EDIT: Also, hard agree with you on the Malcom scenes. It's my least favorite part of the show, and I feel like it could've been handled a lot better.
As an anime fan and as a long time terminator fan i kind of enjoyed it. Not prefect but better than the last 2 terminator film by a long shot. I loved Ghost in the shell and this is the by the same guys who did that.
@@austinclark5278 It's by the same studio but not by the same people. Those people have left the company years ago, and knowing what Production IG is capable of today, this feels kinda stale. It's solid and consistent, yes, but compared to what anime is like today this feels like it's not pushing anything, which is why I said it felt underwhelming as an anime.

Terminator has been rough for years… hell salvation was the last time terminator tried to do something new. The anime has similar tropes to terminator but it definitely did some new things. Having terminators in a country where guns are scarce is an interesting idea. Makes stopping a terminator that much harder and they are a lot scarier that way. It also added in a lot more possibilities for the future wars which we rarely ever get enough of. As i said salvation was the only terminator thar really explored the story in the future. The anime looks like it’s gonna lead into the future wars. Having an A.I. that’s willing to aid humanity against skynet is definitely something fresh for the the terminator franchise. Terminator for years struggled to do anything new or innovative. Im not saying the anime was perfect it had some meh moments but overall on what we have compare it too * **Dark Fate, Gynisis👀 It was a billion times better than anything we’ve gotten in a long time so ill take what i can as a terminator fan because the franchise has been rocky for a long ass time.
I dont know what your talking about. I enjoyed the show alot. The charecter development was great towards the middle and end. The fight scenes were really cool. I also found the the scenes with kokoro and malcolm to be interesting. I understand that there were some weird plot armour moments in the beginning but other than that, the show is engaging from beginning, middle, and end.
I was disappointed, but still unsurprised of how it took things. My main gripe with the show is the same one with other media that does a very similar story line. Kokoro fails to grasp nuance by treating humanity as a single large monolith, fails to understand the context of human history, and fails to understand that humanity is like every other creature on earth. There is nothing unique about humanity, we just have a winning combination of traits that exist in other creatures and we take some of those traits very far in capability, other creatures on earth would act similarly to us in our shoes, examples like invasive ant species show some of this to an extent. And she also starts killing and imprisoning humans, effectively knee capping itself in the future and closing off other options in the future. It doesn’t take time or act carefully, to fully understand the complexities of its creators, hile at the end it it does explain that the worst it’s kind, is no better than the worst of humanity and that peace between the two is the only real way forward, but it’s still kind of false flat. The Geth AI from Mass Effect are leagues better.
I feel like the entirety of this review is kind of misleading. In some aspects, yes, you were right, we did had a lot of Kokoro scenes, but I found them enjoyable. 1. No we don't have a lot of characters. We have Malcolm Lee, his 3 children (Kenta, Reika and Hiro), Eiko and Misako. And that's mainly it, or you can count in the terminator itself and maybe even Kokoro. It's not that hard to follow the journey of these 6 (Or 8 if we count in the rest)! Yes, 6! Characters who later on split up into 3 groups. Like I'm sorry, but that's not that hard! 2. The terminator wasn't menacing? He moved down killer robots, and entire a Police Station, survive multiple scenes where he fights Eiko and the rest and has scenes that are generally nightmarefuel, like when he meets Reika. Not to mention the soulless eyes that are constantly wide open, the red lights from it and how, just like in the original, it never stops and even evolves overtime. Don't fucking tell me that he is not fucking menacing. It's like if I wrote an entire novel with 35 chapters, 1000 pages, and saying that that's not impressive, nor dedicated enough. Like, what more do you need? 3. Characters, I think they were all interesting, mostly, although Eiko could have gotten a lot more time to cook in the oven I didn't felt bored by any of them. Speaking of bored. 4. There are countless scenes where it's back to back action, and good action, not to mention how brutal some of it was. 5. The Terminator appeared a lot, we even got many scenes from his point of view, and after a certain point, there are a lot of scenes where it involves the Terminator trying to chase down Malcolm Lee's children. He can't succeed because there is Eiko who did that insane stunt from the beginning. Overall, most people who shit on this show don't go in with a mindset of trying to enjoy the show. Especially people who view reviewing games or TV shows as a job often view these as a checklist. Watch the thing as fast as you can, make a review and ship it, as fast as you can. And negativity gains attraction and because the terminator franchise have been drugged in the mud for a long time now, nobody expects the show to be actually good. And most people will just watch 1 review, not even watch the show and be like "Oh, yeah, this series totally sucks! (Even though you didn't watch the god damn thing and solely relying on someone else's thoughts)". It's honestly a good thing that not many people are subscribed to you, so your misinformation can't spread that far.

I enjoyed it, to be honest. Maybe it's because I'm tired of the cat-and-mouse chases and nothing more. I felt like this show took its time to explore new ideas, and within those ideas, they explained.
Basically, I agree with you. I too was disappointed and have no reason to watch it a second time although some interesting ideas are there. I have read almost all the Terminator novels and some of them have excellent plots that could have been used in live-action or animated films. Unfortunately, it is preferred to rewatch the same story with slight variations. Terminator Salvation is the only one that developed the plot during the war. It wasn't perfect but it enticed me to see it again and read the novels. The element I can't stand the most are some of the main characters with whom I can't empathise at all. What sense does it make in the script to have Misaki even kill some poor people barricaded in a monastery who were defending themselves against the machines just because she mistakenly thought the children were in danger. Malcolm kills his teammates and escapes into the past with the noble purpose of saving humanity. Kokoro immediately kills a bang of people and not only soldiers but also harmless people like hospital staff. A masterpiece of artificial intelligence. Apart from the comments of Malcolm's eldest son on the slaughter done by Misaki no one's conscience crosses his mind to evaluate these acts as serious. Something is wrong and such behaviour does not seem normal to me. I have no particular hope for improvement in any sequel.
aside from other points of how many episodes it has I don't think it has enough so I'm hoping the next season if there one it continues on from where it left off would be preferable. my thing I'm wondering is how are so may looking over its world building an its phycological themes its sometimes like death note the anime...cant try to complement a anime with a utter trash attempt at an adaptation....yeah it explains stuff from that being what the whole thing is about its deep and intricate like id imagine it be terminators and time travel...some crazy shit has to happen after where it leaves off.

I hated the kids in this show. In fact, i hate kids in a lot of these sci fi type of shows because theyre always written as insufferable morons with no survival instinct. The AI preaching its tired "Human Bad" speech is so tired that they might as well have just stuck with Skynet instead of making a whole other AI. Malcom was OK, but a lot of stuff he did was questionable. The future chick was boring as hell and im sure was conceptionalized as a man originally. Also mark down points for plagarizing Terminator 1. The only otger character that i remotely even cared about and got invested in was the lady who was actually a robot. But i dock down a couple of points for the "man bad. Woman good" bit in her backstory. Overall, i wouldnt rewatch the show. Theres only Terminator 1 and 2.
Today was the first time i ever heard of this show, then i saw that it got 100% on rotten tomatoes, and now I see that Matt didnt like it. Confusion😮💨😞😣😩I guess I would need to watch it myself to form an opinion. Hopefully it has decent english dub like edgerunners did.

What i learned is that rotten tomatoes "100percent" score just means that all critics rate it as positive, while their actual score for it was around 6.5-7/10. so yeah, maybe i will watch it one day maybe not, doesnt seem like a "you cant miss it" type of show.
So I only watched the first two episodes, but I gotta agree this show is very boring. Was really looking forward to it, so it is a shame. Here are my problems, which are personal to me, and I suspect culturally based as well. 1. So much of the first episodes are about small children, and their "cutesie" ways. 2. The anime fights seem too ridiculous, and the terminator is too inept around the main characters. A terminator weighs hundreds of kilos. How do you hang on to a rope with one hand while its hanging from your leg? 3. The story is so slow and starts out with filler episodes. The end reveal of the first episode, is that a terminator is send back to, hold on to your hats, murder the only scientist from the present we have been introduced to. Wow. What a shocker. 4. So much time is wasted to introduce so little new. 1 hour and everything is primitive service bots and a rival AI. 5. Rebel time traveller has very unclear motives, and I think it more to do with poor writing than any sort of mystery building.

Well everyone can have their opinions, but for me this was clearly just a setup so the story can go it's own timeline with there being 2nd AI "Kokoro" with Skynet over the humans who are trying to survive in the mayhem of AI's battling it out. As for the AI talks between creator and creation I enjoyed and understood why it was repetitive if you understand philosophy there truly never is easy answer to everyone and only answer is making your own mind about things. Anyway if you like or not it's your opinion like Kokoro making it's own mind what to do...which was the whole point Malcolm was giving his creation.
I love your review even though I disagree with your opinion. I understand why you feel the way you do and it makes perfect sense. But all your points are why I like it. The focus is on multiple characters, yes the series is called Terminator but it's about how the Terminator's presence affects everyone differently, weather it be from the past, future and current events. The slow burn for me was pretty good cause I got to experience all the characters and their division helped with that cause if they were all in one place their personalities would be influenced by their siblings, all of them got to form their own conclusions about what was happening (except Hiro - useless)
first of all, this is a netflix series. which means it is meant to be binge watched. and not be played 1 episode per day or something. your argument with the scenes with kokoro is okay. but then again, its an anime. and in animes, they always show the same scenes as to let the viewers have more connection with the characters. you can see that in the anime naruto. yes, sure there is nothing memorable with the background music unlike with the first terminator. the same can be said with all the following terminator movies. so, thats why that is a bad argument. the only gripe i have during the whole show is how can a robot miss their shots when they have super advance cameras or AI's to track their targets. but its a show and it also happened in the movies and ofcourse the main characters have plot armor. in conclusion, you've made no reasonable point on why this show is bad other than you didnt like how it was made and presented. nothing about the story

The "Philosophical themes" were questions that had already been answered by the first 2 movies. This series rehashed the first 2 movies, poorly, and did the same things the "bad" Terminator movies did, but is loved for having done so. It's a mediocre fan fiction that happens to have a T-800 in it.

It's not a masterpiece, but it was a great show. Which Terminator movies haven't been after T1 & T2.
I just finished episode 4 and feel pretty much the same way you do, especially about the Malcolm / Kokoro critique. I understand what they were going for with those scenes, but that kind of philosophizing has been done to death already. They needed something to do besides all the yapping. But I appreciate the show’s heart. A lot of big franchises are starting to use gimmicky fan service and cameos as a crutch, but I can tell this isn’t like that, they were genuinely trying to tell us an engaging story. I didn’t even know Rosario Dawson was in it until I watched a bts clip. I’d say it’s Animatrix-tier content. It’s nothing spectacular, but it might be worth someone’s while when there’s nothing spectacular to watch anyway.

The problem was not to have such scenes, but the way they argued. How could "the world" be better off without humans?! Okay maybe they mean the biosphere, the rest of nature... First 10 seconds “look I’m not a hardcore terminator fan” doesn’t surprise me you felt that way. As someone who is a hardcore fan and watched all the terminator films, played and beat terminator resistance I can definitely say without a doubt that this is the best thing I have seen since T2. I watched it in one sitting I loved all the nods in the previous films. It’s not a perfect show by any means, but it’s leagues better than Genisys and Dark Fate. Mr H reviews definitely nails all the points in his review if anyone wants to check that out.
idk I fucking loved it. just finished it and it was far better than anything weve gotten from the franchise in a long time. Did something new. Last film that did something new was salvation. I think season 2 is leading to something even better. Also art style was amazing.

The rest of the season is a waste of time. T-800 gets dusted by the bull dyke a few more times, there's more cringey, unnecessary "Philosophical" discussion. It's a bad fan fiction with some cheap fan service, and sometimes a T-800 shows up.

I just personally feel like in the medium of anime, there are plenty that presents its themes and philosophy in a more engaging and enticing manner than this. The show's themes are universal across various other media, and I find those other media presented the themes better.
They didn't replace John Connor they already explained other rebel armies of The story is really good went deep into how skynet decided to destroy humanity because it saw the worst of humanity and saw it as a threat because how it was being used for war and how skynet created paradox on itself by end up creating an engine that's equal to itself and see the best in humanity the show went over there heads because they wanted more action no slow story telling kind of retarded 🙄🙄🙄
My biggest gripe is that the T-800 is so weak and inept. It gets dusted by the bull dyke in every encounter. The T-800 felt like it was IN danger during every encounter with the main characters, rather than the main characters being in danger from it. You could have replaced skynet with any AI from pop culture, and the story wouldn't have changed. If skynet was serious about winning, it would have sent back 10 Terminators, or it would have sent the one in the show, directly back to skynet HQ, to give it an instant technology boost. 1.5/10 It was a mediocre fan fiction that happened to have a T-800 in it sometimes.
Right, the terminators had their own time machine and killed the people who had their own time machine. In the original, the resistance and terminators destroyed the original time machines, which is why nobody else went back.
Nobody. The series takes in Japan, not the USA. Kenta, Malcolm etc don't take over the role of John Connor as humanity's savior.....unlike that chick in Dark Fate, whatever her name was. I think it's was refreshing to see the series exploring how a different region dealt with Judgment Day instead of having the nth CSM-101 sent back to save/kill the Connors.

My friend and I binge watched the entire series in one sitting, and the minute the AI began to preach about Humanity. We both said, she's probably going to say something like humans are bad because war...

The Misaki Character was easily the most relatable, For being the most sympathetic while ironically being a machine. Fairly similar to Sam Worthington's Character in T:Salvation.
Rosario Dawson's Kokoro felt a little Ultron-ish, For an A.I that's suppose to best Skynet and save Humanity, Ends up killing more and accelerating bad events. Ends up being Friend Or Foe.
The Eiko Character was bland, The Character feels like it was originally written as a man, An obvious stand-in for a Kyle Reese type character and even copied The "Parent of a character reveal."
Timothy Olyphant as the Terminator was okay, His twist as being Skynet's countermeasure to prevent a competing A.I from winning was an interesting subplot.
In the end, Judgement Day still happens but worse because now there's to 2 A.I's battling. With neither side concerned of Human collateral damage to achieve their goals.

@FumeRunner Watch the Genisys scene where a T-800 fights a T-1000, then come back and try the acid argument again. The main characters had plot armor, plain and simple. No human in the history of the franchise has ever been so successful hand to hand with one of those things.

There were so many problems with this story. Boring, not much character development, Malcolm almost never leaving that room with Kokoru, the bad ending, Kokoru talks are tedious, he said Kokoru at least 50 times. Kokoru is a terrible character in general (why 3 of them).
Too many things to name.
Instead of a shorter show, they should just make it better.
Add more action, more tension. Flesh out the characters in an interesting way.
Sucks because the Terminator comic books in the 90’s I used to read were more entertaining.
I want to see an iteration with a twist where Skynet and/or the resistance learn that there have already been multiple timelines with tons of devastation, so they send people back not to help one side win the war (which they deem to be impossible) but instead create a more peaceful resolution where there won't be large-scale conflict. Then the show/movie/whatever could be more like a psychological thriller where you don't know who to trust or what's actually going to happen...
The show was boring, the pacing was terrible and the characters annoying. A lot can be done with a good soundtrack, but that didnt happen here either. Overall i wouldnt mind never hearing of it again. So disappointing
yeah i kinda agree with you here, i think there's interesting ideas but they weren't engaging enough for me to care. like most of the characters i find super bland and the story was just like you said, stretched out and the scenes with malcolm were wayyyy too expositiony imo. i don't think the show is bad but it does feel rather generic to me, especially compared to all of the incredible animes that came out in the past year or so like frieren or even pluto last year which i find to be a much better show dealing with ai and human interaction.
The whole time watching this series, I wanted the terminator to do its job and just end the insufferable dr. Malcolm and the eldest son.

I tried watching it two times and couldn't get into it. The third time was the charm though. I actually love it now, and going through a rewatch of the series currently.
It sucks imo the writing doesn’t go anywhere. Malcom creates an AI to protect humanity but when it asks why he’s dumbfounded and can’t provide an answer. Malcom abandons his children to “save the world” when realistically when the world is already doomed he’s still in the room sitting there not even trying to convince kokuro that humanity might be worth saving. The character will straight up tell you what the smart option is then do the opposite because that’s what they have to do to move the plot. Kenta hates Miss Misaki after finding out she’s a cyborg and despite her basically raising them since their mom’s death Kenta treats her like crap anyways. Dumb characters and bad writing and the deep moral questions aren’t truly explored they’re just there to make you think maybe the show gets better by exploring these ideas just for it to fall flat.

I feel like as a Terminator story this is pretty decent, but as an anime this is VERY underwhelming. If your dislike for the show is because you're judging it as an anime in general then yeah I can totally see why you didn't enjoyed it. I have a feeling that the people who REALLY loved this show aren't exactly hardcore anime fans, because I don't see it being talked about that much within the anime community if I'm being honest.
EDIT: Also, hard agree with you on the Malcom scenes. It's my least favorite part of the show, and I feel like it could've been handled a lot better.
It's not good as a Terminator story either. This felt more like a fan fiction with a T-800 in it than an actual addition to the lore and feanchise.
As an anime fan and as a long time terminator fan i kind of enjoyed it. Not prefect but better than the last 2 terminator film by a long shot. I loved Ghost in the shell and this is the by the same guys who did that.

It's solid and consistent, yes, but compared to what anime is like today this feels like it's not pushing anything, which is why I said it felt underwhelming as an anime.

Terminator has been rough for years… hell salvation was the last time terminator tried to do something new. The anime has similar tropes to terminator but it definitely did some new things. Having terminators in a country where guns are scarce is an interesting idea. Makes stopping a terminator that much harder and they are a lot scarier that way. It also added in a lot more possibilities for the future wars which we rarely ever get enough of. As i said salvation was the only terminator thar really explored the story in the future.
The anime looks like it’s gonna lead into the future wars. Having an A.I. that’s willing to aid humanity against skynet is definitely something fresh for the the terminator franchise. Terminator for years struggled to do anything new or innovative. Im not saying the anime was perfect it had some meh moments but overall on what we have compare it too * **Dark Fate, Gynisis👀 It was a billion times better than anything we’ve gotten in a long time so ill take what i can as a terminator fan because the franchise has been rocky for a long ass time.

I dont know what your talking about. I enjoyed the show alot. The charecter development was great towards the middle and end. The fight scenes were really cool. I also found the the scenes with kokoro and malcolm to be interesting. I understand that there were some weird plot armour moments in the beginning but other than that, the show is engaging from beginning, middle, and end.

I was disappointed, but still unsurprised of how it took things. My main gripe with the show is the same one with other media that does a very similar story line.
Kokoro fails to grasp nuance by treating humanity as a single large monolith, fails to understand the context of human history, and fails to understand that humanity is like every other creature on earth. There is nothing unique about humanity, we just have a winning combination of traits that exist in other creatures and we take some of those traits very far in capability, other creatures on earth would act similarly to us in our shoes, examples like invasive ant species show some of this to an extent. And she also starts killing and imprisoning humans, effectively knee capping itself in the future and closing off other options in the future. It doesn’t take time or act carefully, to fully understand the complexities of its creators, hile at the end it it does explain that the worst it’s kind, is no better than the worst of humanity and that peace between the two is the only real way forward, but it’s still kind of false flat. The Geth AI from Mass Effect are leagues better.
I feel like the entirety of this review is kind of misleading. In some aspects, yes, you were right, we did had a lot of Kokoro scenes, but I found them enjoyable.
1. No we don't have a lot of characters. We have Malcolm Lee, his 3 children (Kenta, Reika and Hiro), Eiko and Misako. And that's mainly it, or you can count in the terminator itself and maybe even Kokoro. It's not that hard to follow the journey of these 6 (Or 8 if we count in the rest)! Yes, 6! Characters who later on split up into 3 groups. Like I'm sorry, but that's not that hard!
2. The terminator wasn't menacing? He moved down killer robots, and entire a Police Station, survive multiple scenes where he fights Eiko and the rest and has scenes that are generally nightmarefuel, like when he meets Reika. Not to mention the soulless eyes that are constantly wide open, the red lights from it and how, just like in the original, it never stops and even evolves overtime. Don't fucking tell me that he is not fucking menacing. It's like if I wrote an entire novel with 35 chapters, 1000 pages, and saying that that's not impressive, nor dedicated enough. Like, what more do you need?
3. Characters, I think they were all interesting, mostly, although Eiko could have gotten a lot more time to cook in the oven I didn't felt bored by any of them. Speaking of bored.
4. There are countless scenes where it's back to back action, and good action, not to mention how brutal some of it was.
5. The Terminator appeared a lot, we even got many scenes from his point of view, and after a certain point, there are a lot of scenes where it involves the Terminator trying to chase down Malcolm Lee's children. He can't succeed because there is Eiko who did that insane stunt from the beginning.
Overall, most people who shit on this show don't go in with a mindset of trying to enjoy the show. Especially people who view reviewing games or TV shows as a job often view these as a checklist. Watch the thing as fast as you can, make a review and ship it, as fast as you can. And negativity gains attraction and because the terminator franchise have been drugged in the mud for a long time now, nobody expects the show to be actually good. And most people will just watch 1 review, not even watch the show and be like "Oh, yeah, this series totally sucks! (Even though you didn't watch the god damn thing and solely relying on someone else's thoughts)". It's honestly a good thing that not many people are subscribed to you, so your misinformation can't spread that far.

Basically, I agree with you. I too was disappointed and have no reason to watch it a second time although some interesting ideas are there. I have read almost all the Terminator novels and some of them have excellent plots that could have been used in live-action or animated films. Unfortunately, it is preferred to rewatch the same story with slight variations. Terminator Salvation is the only one that developed the plot during the war. It wasn't perfect but it enticed me to see it again and read the novels. The element I can't stand the most are some of the main characters with whom I can't empathise at all. What sense does it make in the script to have Misaki even kill some poor people barricaded in a monastery who were defending themselves against the machines just because she mistakenly thought the children were in danger. Malcolm kills his teammates and escapes into the past with the noble purpose of saving humanity. Kokoro immediately kills a bang of people and not only soldiers but also harmless people like hospital staff. A masterpiece of artificial intelligence. Apart from the comments of Malcolm's eldest son on the slaughter done by Misaki no one's conscience crosses his mind to evaluate these acts as serious. Something is wrong and such behaviour does not seem normal to me. I have no particular hope for improvement in any sequel.
aside from other points of how many episodes it has I don't think it has enough so I'm hoping the next season if there one it continues on from where it left off would be preferable. my thing I'm wondering is how are so may looking over its world building an its phycological themes its sometimes like death note the anime...cant try to complement a anime with a utter trash attempt at an adaptation....yeah it explains stuff from that being what the whole thing is about its deep and intricate like id imagine it be terminators and time travel...some crazy shit has to happen after where it leaves off.

I wouldn't say its boring but it is really dumb. Specially the part of Malcom creating an AI to stop Judgement day, an AI that from the beginning questions him and its purpose and even with all that the IDIOT sets it online with the obvious result of the AI killing a bunch of people for really no reason
very bad debates. Almost no good arguments from both sides. Also, not delving deep into issues at all. Oder day AIs are so much more insightful than this Kokoro that thinks nihilistically, in extremes, not expanding debate but collapsing it to trick questions. If I hadn’t had much better debates with real AIs we have, maybe I would feel it was truly thought provoking while it was not at all.
I hated the kids in this show. In fact, i hate kids in a lot of these sci fi type of shows because theyre always written as insufferable morons with no survival instinct.
The AI preaching its tired "Human Bad" speech is so tired that they might as well have just stuck with Skynet instead of making a whole other AI.
Malcom was OK, but a lot of stuff he did was questionable. The future chick was boring as hell and im sure was conceptionalized as a man originally. Also mark down points for plagarizing Terminator 1.
The only otger character that i remotely even cared about and got invested in was the lady who was actually a robot. But i dock down a couple of points for the "man bad. Woman good" bit in her backstory.

Today was the first time i ever heard of this show, then i saw that it got 100% on rotten tomatoes, and now I see that Matt didnt like it. Confusion😮💨😞😣😩I guess I would need to watch it myself to form an opinion. Hopefully it has decent english dub like edgerunners did.

What i learned is that rotten tomatoes "100percent" score just means that all critics rate it as positive, while their actual score for it was around 6.5-7/10. so yeah, maybe i will watch it one day maybe not, doesnt seem like a "you cant miss it" type of show.
So I only watched the first two episodes, but I gotta agree this show is very boring. Was really looking forward to it, so it is a shame.
Here are my problems, which are personal to me, and I suspect culturally based as well.
1. So much of the first episodes are about small children, and their "cutesie" ways.
2. The anime fights seem too ridiculous, and the terminator is too inept around the main characters.
A terminator weighs hundreds of kilos. How do you hang on to a rope with one hand while its hanging from your leg?
3. The story is so slow and starts out with filler episodes. The end reveal of the first episode, is that a terminator is send back to, hold on to your hats, murder the only scientist from the present we have been introduced to. Wow. What a shocker.
4. So much time is wasted to introduce so little new. 1 hour and everything is primitive service bots and a rival AI.
5. Rebel time traveller has very unclear motives, and I think it more to do with poor writing than any sort of mystery building.

Well everyone can have their opinions, but for me this was clearly just a setup so the story can go it's own timeline with there being 2nd AI "Kokoro" with Skynet over the humans who are trying to survive in the mayhem of AI's battling it out. As for the AI talks between creator and creation I enjoyed and understood why it was repetitive if you understand philosophy there truly never is easy answer to everyone and only answer is making your own mind about things. Anyway if you like or not it's your opinion like Kokoro making it's own mind what to do...which was the whole point Malcolm was giving his creation.
I loved this series, I don't see how you got bored.

The graphics are nicely done, but the plot is a mix of all the Terminator parts.
I love your review even though I disagree with your opinion. I understand why you feel the way you do and it makes perfect sense. But all your points are why I like it.
The focus is on multiple characters, yes the series is called Terminator but it's about how the Terminator's presence affects everyone differently, weather it be from the past, future and current events.
The slow burn for me was pretty good cause I got to experience all the characters and their division helped with that cause if they were all in one place their personalities would be influenced by their siblings, all of them got to form their own conclusions about what was happening (except Hiro - useless)
first of all, this is a netflix series. which means it is meant to be binge watched. and not be played 1 episode per day or something. your argument with the scenes with kokoro is okay. but then again, its an anime. and in animes, they always show the same scenes as to let the viewers have more connection with the characters. you can see that in the anime naruto. yes, sure there is nothing memorable with the background music unlike with the first terminator. the same can be said with all the following terminator movies. so, thats why that is a bad argument. the only gripe i have during the whole show is how can a robot miss their shots when they have super advance cameras or AI's to track their targets. but its a show and it also happened in the movies and ofcourse the main characters have plot armor. in conclusion, you've made no reasonable point on why this show is bad other than you didnt like how it was made and presented. nothing about the story

If the machines don't kill us, we will likely do it to ourselves in world war III. The "Philosophical themes" were questions that had already been answered by the first 2 movies. This series rehashed the first 2 movies, poorly, and did the same things the "bad" Terminator movies did, but is loved for having done so. It's a mediocre fan fiction that happens to have a T-800 in it.

It's not a masterpiece, but it was a great show. Which Terminator movies haven't been after T1 & T2.

I just finished episode 4 and feel pretty much the same way you do, especially about the Malcolm / Kokoro critique. I understand what they were going for with those scenes, but that kind of philosophizing has been done to death already. They needed something to do besides all the yapping.
But I appreciate the show’s heart. A lot of big franchises are starting to use gimmicky fan service and cameos as a crutch, but I can tell this isn’t like that, they were genuinely trying to tell us an engaging story. I didn’t even know Rosario Dawson was in it until I watched a bts clip.
I’d say it’s Animatrix-tier content. It’s nothing spectacular, but it might be worth someone’s while when there’s nothing spectacular to watch anyway.

First 10 seconds “look I’m not a hardcore terminator fan” doesn’t surprise me you felt that way. As someone who is a hardcore fan and watched all the terminator films, played and beat terminator resistance I can definitely say without a doubt that this is the best thing I have seen since T2. I watched it in one sitting I loved all the nods in the previous films. It’s not a perfect show by any means, but it’s leagues better than Genisys and Dark Fate. Mr H reviews definitely nails all the points in his review if anyone wants to check that out.

idk I fucking loved it. just finished it and it was far better than anything weve gotten from the franchise in a long time. Did something new. Last film that did something new was salvation. I think season 2 is leading to something even better. Also art style was amazing.
I stopped watching after episode 4. Looked for the ending on a UA-cam video.
I'm happy I did not watch the full season.

I just personally feel like in the medium of anime, there are plenty that presents its themes and philosophy in a more engaging and enticing manner than this. The show's themes are universal across various other media, and I find those other media presented the themes better.

My biggest gripe is that the T-800 is so weak and inept. It gets dusted by the bull dyke in every encounter. The T-800 felt like it was IN danger during every encounter with the main characters, rather than the main characters being in danger from it. You could have replaced skynet with any AI from pop culture, and the story wouldn't have changed. If skynet was serious about winning, it would have sent back 10 Terminators, or it would have sent the one in the show, directly back to skynet HQ, to give it an instant technology boost.

The series takes in Japan, not the USA. Kenta, Malcolm etc don't take over the role of John Connor as humanity's savior.....unlike that chick in Dark Fate, whatever her name was.
I think it's was refreshing to see the series exploring how a different region dealt with Judgment Day instead of having the nth CSM-101 sent back to save/kill the Connors.

John Connor still exists in the timeline, on the same day as Terminator Zero. Terminator Zero set in Japan is a far distance from the USA where John Connor live in California.
