This is actually a reupload, as I originally put this on one of my other channels, but anyway here's a full ride of the PCC II trolley car on SEPTA's trolley route 15 via Girard Avenue! Enjoy!!
Philadelphia is one of the few cities in the world that still operates PCC cars (let alone traditional streetcars) in revenue service. These are SEPTA's 1947 St. Louis Car Co. 2700 series and the 1948 St. Louis Car Co. 2100 series PCC cars, rebuilt between 2003-2004 by Brookville, and Renumbered to 2320-2337. These trolley cars can be seen exclusively on route 15 out of Callowhill Depot. From 2010-2011 these cars received another upgrade, replacing the original roll signs with TwinVision LED signs.

The part where the 15 stops at Girard and Lancaster, is right around the corner from my house.
This trolley reminds me of the "GREEN HORNET STREETCARS"by the CTA in Chicago that ran until June 21st 1958.
Its kinda sad to see such beautiful trolleys operate through some of the most poorest parts of Philly... I hope one day Philly can get funding to give a face lift to its surrounding towns, because they need it. Great ride!
We have the trolley modernization program that has been around for years at this point. We finally have some funding for it and should see massive improvements like boarding platforms, new trolleys, and ROW improvements. Slowly the poorer areas is getting some investment but very slowly at this point.
The city thought it would bring those neighborhoods back from the dead. the idea failed.
The 15 goes through Fishtown, Fairmount and Brewerytown. All are either already wealthy neighborhoods or are very much up and coming neighborhoods.
The funny thing about The PCC Trollies, is that they're more accessible because they have a wheelchair lift, they should not only still be on the 15 line still, but they need to be on the West Philly trolley lines. Cause it might work that way, instead of replacing the PCC Trollies, but SEPTA wanted to do this modernization thing now.
The #15 Line is the Heritage Car Line and I only see these old heritage Trolleys on this line.
I didn’t know they had Clever Devices announcements. Will these trolleys receive internal LED displays during their next overhaul?
Where do the unused trolley tracks past the Market--Frankford elevated station go? I was there last summer and noticed the tracks cross a bridge, run under a highway structure then are paved over and there's no overhead wire. Are these tracks going to see trolleys again, or will this be a SEPTA 'temporary" bus replacement?
Drew K they continue to Richmond Via Girard, then up Richmond Street to Westmoreland Street. I actually have video on how that section looked when it was served by the trolleys somewhere on this channel lol
@@DashTransit --THANKS for the info. I will look for your video. Keep up the excellent transit videos.
Drew K they rebuilt the tracks up Richmond Street, whenever Westmoreland Loop is finished that's probably when trolleys will return
RIP Route 15 Trolley (Temporarily I hope)
Shut up! It will be running forever.
Not routes 29 and 79 track-less trolleys
I love the 15 trolly even though I didn't ride it
You should!
I rode it once.
Me too
The announcement didn't even finish lmao but yay trolley action!! :D
It didn't?
@@DashTransit Well its your video.
@@DannyManny98 Yea, but it completed on my end that's why I asked. Sometimes weird things happen in post, and one can never be too sure... but turns out this time there was no problem.
@@DashTransit Now I get it.
Annabelle Greenliner (human incarnation of Trolley route 15) got replaced by Jane Whiteliner (human incarnation of Bus route 15)
The window piller in the way
Did you hear that septa is considering converting the 15 trolley to all buses?
Hope not..
When they say this?
whyy.org/segments/overhauling-its-bus-network-may-be-on-septas-schedule-soon/
lil.lambo.official they not gonna do that
@@Eko34tj this rumor comes up every year. I'll believe it when I see it.
Coming back soon!
Next week, can't wait to ride it again all though it's my second favorite trolley route

Damn. I wonder what it will take for NYC to restore the once great trolley system that LaGiardia and Moses vandalized in the name of progress?
