- I picked up this worm-gear drive Ramsey winch on Marketplace in August. It come with a length of 1/2" wire rope that was in bad shape and the brushes from the motor are missing, so it won't run until the motor is replaced. There was nothing to indicate a model number, but the drum has part number "688448" over "871" and the gear housing has part number "0225-1" cast into it. As best as I can tell, it is a 12,000# unit, but if you know for sure what I am working with, please chime in!
If you just get ahold of either Ramesy Winch or any good off road store you should be able to purchase any part for the winch
Also
The handle you pulled on is called a T handle and when it’s pulled out it disengages the drum so you can free spool the winch drum/ pull the cable out without using the motor.
Also the motor is based on an ford starter motor from the 60’s and 70’s
Jim, thank you so much for your help! There is an old school starter and alternator shop in OKC that can likely rebuild the motor now that I know what we are dealing with, assuming the Ford starter motor internals are the same. It definitely can't hurt to ask, now that I have an idea of what parts should be compatible. Thank you again for all your help!
Привет подскажите от какой машины подходит стартер
Your winch is a 8000 the winch was built when things were built to work.
I was built with a gift to use tools so I got a Ramsey that was lacking part and O found some shop manuals online
and built what I needed. There are lot of information online.
And for sure after working on as many Ramsey's as I have it is a 8000.
Good your going to enjoy the winch you have a better one.
Thanks! I've been digging around for resources to take this from a visual piece to operational.
Joe it looks like a old ramsey model 2000 or 2001. If it had a through lever instead of the newer free wheeling t handle I would have said it was a DCY 200
Thank you James. I've been looking at Ramsey's diagrams, trying to figure out what exactly it is. You may be on to so meshing here.
It’s an RE 12000
But to truly know you would have to look into the main drum gear and worm gear
These winches were the high end consumer winch
They were painted black.
The 3 type of Ramesy winches
Were the
RE 8000
RE 10000
RE 12000
I work for them for 12 years.
Thank you very much! What should I be looking for on the main gear and worm gear? The gears turn as they should, smoothly, at least by hand, when I had what was left of the motor removed from the winch.
Just subscribed 👍👍I’m building a 55 cameo at the moment
Nice! When I was going to college in AZ, I used to pass a residence that had two Cameo projects (potentially, I never saw any work being done) sitting in the back yard of the residence. Being AZ trucks, there was a lot of potential in saving them.
