Thanks Tom! How much voltage drop between the Input power supply and whats at the Track ? With the Arduino motor shield I was getting about 4 or 5 V drop!
That's about right if your using a meter on the AC scale. The only real way to get an accurate measurment is by using the device made to check the DCC signal.
Hi Tom great job - I've bought Pololu shield because of more apms... Of course I've got arduino motorshield as well. I've got one problem with Pololu - maybe You could help me. Everything works well with Pololu exept one thing, when on my layout is short circuit then Pololu is turinig off voltage on track, but there is no information to JMRI (in arduino motorshield works corretly), do you know where the problem is? Thank you in advance!!! Regards Miqi p.s. I'm so sorry for my english
Hello Tom, I've just got a Pololu motor shield which I intend to use with an Arduino Uno. Can you please confirm that the modifications you mentioned in your video are still applicable? Many thanks! Ervin
Tom Has anyone had any luck using the Pololu Dual VNH5019 motor shield (12 Amp rating) for a DCC++ Arduino controller instead of the MC33926 that we know works?
If you watch my latest video on the DCC++ Installer, I mention a new version of DCC++EX. I have a link to the web page. This is an improvement to the original code for DCC++. They are still working on it, but you can look into it The link in in the pinned comment in that video.
Well my friend moving forward..I got the Mega (org. no nock off) the Pololu (actually 2 mega's 1 with an ardunio } oh and the Rasberry Pie + waiting on a starter kit jumpers breadboard ect; Next is a Computer (lap-top) & monitor are you using XP for your code writing ? I'm going to try this But I DONT have an DCC ready ( with decoders installed) that I'm willing to "ginny-pig 1st ( like my new turbine or my Challenger ) so I'll have to buy something for 1 of my loco's thats dcc ready now then IF I smoke the 1st 1's it wont hurt the pocket quite so hard lol have you tried any of those Cheepies out of china yet? Well Tom I didn't know anything before I started watching your ch. Now..I'm almost dangerous, Bahah lol your the best Tom out their for explaining & DOING hands on I like that Oh power supplies I have doz's of computer & DC powerpac to try too..Repurposing right thanks aging for all that you do!!!!
Glad to hear your getting everything together to get started with DCC++. The only thing I get out of Chine is some electronic parts and supplies. The only issue with the parts from Chine is by the time I get them 3 weeks later, I forget what I ordered them for. lol Nothing for the railroad. I write my scripts on my win 10 computer with the Arduino IDE.
@@TomsTrainsandThings yes I hear ya there at time I wish my my name was' Bob' for those days..I refer to my driver lic. maybe sometime in the future you could do a "Re-Motor for some of those loco's you just can't part with Tenshodo,Overland, even a Varney or 2 I have RA real bad so I'm gonna have to get the "steady Hand stuff done BEFORE the mind and hands lose there connection..everything is order for me approx.300 mi. to closest hobby store..
Another great video. Thanks Tom
Your welcome Richard
Good video. I would like to see it connected to the track.
Thanks Dustin. Maybe once I get off vacation.
brilliant Tom ,good job ,doesent pololu sound like a hawian island lol, take care buddy
It sure does, but the company is out of Las Vegas. Go figure!

have you tried the makerfabs h bridge motor shield
No, I have not!
Hello Tom, is it possible to buy directlky from you a Pololu shield already assembled and cabled to install on my arduino Mega?
Sorry, I don't build or modify products to sell to others.
Toms Trains and Things ok .. thank you very much .. i will try .. hope not to burn everything !!
Hi Tom - do you have any issues using DCC++ and the Pololou to do programming on a Programming Track with JMRI ?
Never had any issues with it, haven't heard anyone else have issues either.

Make sure you wired it correctly and your solder joints are good. github.com/DccPlusPlus/Documentation/blob/master/Motor%20Shield%20Pin%20Mappings.pdf

Man, I had Pololu last winter. Coughing, sneezing and itchy elbows. Not fun.
I hate those itchy elbows, those are the worst!
