That first guy is from NC??? He's around my age and I'm from NC; I was making all state tenor and never saw him once, they only take 2 players...I would have seen him
@@10isonthese elite players don’t care about state competitions unless it’s Texas or New York tbh. Smaller states just aren’t competitive enough for them
This is weird because the saxes are WAY loud relatively since the mic is in the front. Trumpets sound so quiet which is NOT normal! Still, I’m an alto so it’s nice! And check out the lead alto man!
Why did none of them look like an idiot while playing? I can't play without having the weirdest facial expression. I really envy people who can play and still look good
It's something you learn as you keep playing because while your new or semi experienced you don't learn to relax your face muscles which actually help playin so🤷🏾♂️
To me it sounds like a lick from the sax solo in a recording of the Heat's on by Sammy Nestico. It's Dillard High School's recording from the Midwest Clinic, and it's right before the trumpet feature. I'll get back to you on the timestamp. EDIT: It's at 1:34, and the recording is on Spotify as "Heat Is On"
they composed it themselves and it seemed like they pretty much just made a tune that they could blow solos over. didn't seem like they were terribly worried about the melody. nothing wrong with that.
The final soloist just went all out. He was just ready to blow to crowd away

Joe Bell the GOD
At 1:18 the other four sax players sit down in unison like "shit man I should be the one getting to finish the solo out"
And they may have been right...

Good musicians but horribly unmelodic tune

@@adithyasriram633 He's saying the piece was bad, not the players
