I live in a small town called Onil. Far less touristy than towns nearer the coast. The fiestas are amazing. The community spirit is something those in Brexitwannaland can only dream of. If ever the UK gets off it's high horse it could learn a lot from the Spaniards - and not just how to make proper paella. 😂
Nice one Barry, now thats a local fiesta for local folks (not quite Royston Vassey 😮) where folks like to fiesta without the drunken brawls/hassles of the tourist Costas.
I've cycled all over Spain and it's fair to say some places in the back of beyond like Valladolid province or Extramadura just live for their annual fiesta. Had some great experiences, particularly like the kids street foam parties that'd have health & safety in the UK shutting them down in 30 seconds.😁
Got to love Catral , lookin forward to our next visit. It religion though that keeps the Fiestas going , i'm no Catholic but have watched many a fiesta in Catral , infact a Scottish guy we know lived in Elche but came to Catral for the Fiestas, including the 'Chupinazo' in the square, it looks brilliant.
Great video, really enjoyed it! I’m coming to Torrevieja from 15th June, for 10 days. Do you know if there are any similar events to this happening at that time? Would appreciate the heads up, thanks!
I would stay in Mutxamel a lot and was very obviously the only guiri in the town (it's really not a tourist town). I would get such strange looks (especially when using the busses). Loved it though.
Difficult to pick your viewpoint. In the town, or a kilometre or so away on one of the roundabouts to view the whole vista? And take earplugs, it is extremely loud for the 40 or so minutes the fireworks are being fired!
@@ScottishCoupleInSpain get a dog sitter for one night only lol same with my mrs dead agaist fireworks bcs our dogs ..but to see the sky like that is amazinv mate honestly ...you would think you were in palastine
Although it is in the Valencian Community, culturally the Andalusian influence is already noticeable, more so than in the provinces of Valencia and Castellón.
street festivals like that in UK would end in massive brawls and police and ambulances 🚑🚒 common Barry why aren't you naming the town? just noticed the catral-police car 😉
Scotty, you say “ this is community “ but their way of life, culture, traditions, religion, etc has not been invaded by thousands of foreigners, has it ? The tourists stick to the beach resorts but there doesn’t seem to be a foreign invasion in these real Spanish areas. No wonder the Brit’s have left their own lands 😢😢
Beautiful 🌞 I'm sure this is why the Spanish seem more content. There's a sense of connection between young and old.

That’s one of the reasons people leave 😢.
I sense from the look on your face that you’re in your element. You have a past spirit in Spain in my opinion. You’re becoming a Spaniard.
