So now that 2022 is coming to a close, it's time to rank Sonic Movie 2, Sonic Origins, Sonic Frontiers, & Sonic Prime against one another to see how they compare, and then also rank 2022 to the previous Sonic years! Time to dissect!

Honestly I wasn't having much hope for frointiers after what happened with forces. They said the same things when it came out and it didn't come true. So why would it now? But it did and I am glad it turned out that way.
@premydaremy I think that while Frontiers isn’t the best the importance of them hitting Frontiers was almost necessary for the games to stay important in the eyes of Sega rather than all the multimedia. I think that Frontiers was the most important and the best ELEMENT of the year. The best release has to go to the movie by FAR. I feel like it was an 8.5 and Sonic Movie 3 will hopefully be a perfect masterpiece. I mean it’s SA2 in a movie. It going to be a BANGER.

Since 2022 is ending I wanna comment on how I met Premydaremy, I watching a bunch of Frontiers related videos back in June and one of Prem’s videos popped up in recommended and I checked it out and became an instant fan, I love how genuine he is, he keeps it real he always looks for anything good in a product whether its multimedia or a game and doesn't immediately shun it. 2022 was a pretty solid year for Sonic Overall, its a Top 5 and S Rank!

Prem you are completely accurate and I completely agree with you. The movie, Origins, Frontiers, and Prime were all really good but like most everything there is always room for improvement. When they are all added together and you look at the year entirely for sure 2022 was one of the best years for Sonic.
Comic readers will know we were kinda spoiled this year with I believe THREE miniseries and SEVERAL One-shots and specials (its hard to specify off the top of my head)
I mean objectively 2022 was the Best Year for the amount of Products released but say They released SA2 and Generations alone in the Same year then it’d be the Best Year because of the Quality of the Products.

what a year, honestly. I'm glad the blue fuck actually won the public back, to a certain degree. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a new era for Sonic, the games and everyone involved.
as for the channel, thanks for keeping up with the content and staying true to yourself and your opinions. You're a real one, and even though I don't always agree with you, I respect the hell out of it. Hopefully, the channel keeps growing and this little ol' community grows stronger.

Honestly I 100% agree this year is an S for the content *inside* it not for the individual contents themselves. considering we've had dry spouts and games that just flopped. Getting a year were we can overall say "Yeah this was a really solid year, can't wait for the next" is a honest to good feeling.

i did really like sonic prime like you've got no idea prem, i kept smiling like an idiot through the whole show. Genuinely felt like a kid again, and i'm 20. It felt special in that regard to me, although i'd be lying if i said was perfect, it's still my favourite sonic related media in a while.
as for the others, i still think the comics are bangers, i really unironically enjoy those to death, look forward to them monthly and in my opinion, there wasn't a bad issue this year and the new arc (issue 50 and beyond), have been some of the best.
i still haven't seen the sonic movie lmao, living in latin america means the movie was only available in the dub version and man that shit was rough in the first one. They got a youtuber to voice Sonic and it's the cringiest thing ever.
as for origins and frontiers....i like both, to a certain degree. Origins is a solid compilation that, at its core, is still packed with insanely fun games that shine because of their quality. That being said, it could've been more. It's edging that golden quality, i swear, the beautiful menus with 3D recreations, the gorgeous cut scenes, etc, but SEGA did mess up the release big time and it ended up hurting the game. Not letting you customize your game more, no new characters or story beats, it all seemed haphazardly put together. Frontiers suffers from the same issue, it's a fun time, and I can see a universe where this was polished to hell and back and turned into a classic, but it feels amateurish at some points with inconsistent visuals and gameplay, though really fun moments.
at the end of the day, i'd still kiss lizuka if i got the chance, so still a banger.
I guess you can say with the various releases, the whole was greater than the sum of it's parts.

Movie 2: 7.5/10 a solid movie and was amazing at adapting sonic lore to a wider audience
Origins: 0/10 just awful, it was just ports of the mobile versions with a shitty 3&K port
Frontiers: 7.5/10 you can definitely feel what they were trying to do and the end product is a good game, it's sadly held back by shitty cyberspace levels and wtf happened to the budget in the last two islands.
Prime: 7.5 a good show with great animation but nothing special so far.
Overall, not going into money, this was a solid year for sonic and I'm excited for what comes next, which is something I haven't felt in a while.

Overall a decent year if we're talking about content of multimedia, but games aren't quite there yet. So I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

No way this year was not top 5, just compare it to the years that have S tier in your tier list. You put a year were we only got Sonic Runners above the biggest year in Sonic's history. It just doesn't make sense, I feel like you're underrating the year a lot
I put more hours into Sonic Runners than 95% of Sonic games, and I put 2015 in A tier, not S.
I went back to the first video to see these. Some of them just don't make much sense to me. Do you really like Sonic 1 (1991) that much because it was S tier just because it was the first, but you said you were scoring these. Is Sonic X (2003) enough to be S tier? Same with Shadow the Hedgehog and Rush (2005) they should balance each other out and make it an A or a B right?

Honestly i felt like Sonic Origins wasn't really needed per say because it's games we have played for like the millionth time. People will argue that "well sonic 3 and knuckles being rereleased omg hype hype hype" but even then, that game ain't worth me wasting $40 especially when i know there's already a definitive way to play bcz of fans. If they wanted a collection, they should have given the advance games some love. Hell add the two rush games to it because why not lol

Let’s say Frontiers came out 3 years after Gens on ps4/xbone. Not bad because it was only 3 years, right?
Another 3 years. 2017. Instead of _Forces_ we get Frontiers 2. Vastly superior in every way right?
Then 2020, a third. And by 2023 potentially a *Fourth.*
See the pattern? If Sega wasn’t cutting corners, the amount of wait times would be incredibly worth it.

Facts. This year was still another meh year for the games, sadly. Sega won't ever learn and that's the problem. Just remember that this game was supposed to come out last year, and when we all finally saw gameplay it was rough as hell. This game would have been another Forces or worse 06, which goes to show that Sega just doesn't care.

frontiers definitely carried this year, the movie was also great but origins was trash and idk how i feel about prime, i havent watched it yet but i feel like i might not like it but then again i've never seen it so i cant really say anything about it yet

It’s okay to be brutally honest. I’ll admit, there were some good moments for Sonic…individually. But most of the things that came from Sega HQ are C to B tier at best. Once again, this franchise is still in this ‘Good Enough’ mentality. But, I can’t deny that there were some good faith being brought to the brand thanks(aside from Origins mishandling and rushing products as usual) to the other products. As a multimedia brand, I think Sonic will be okay for now. But how long before Sega screws the Hedgehog again, only time will tell.
The Multimedia side was decent, but it's gonna be rough competition from now on, now that we have Mario doing movies too. Not to mention, the games still aren't where they needed to be.

Sonic 2 movie isn't gonna age too well now because of Sonic Frontiers. Sonic Frontiers literally gave background Lore about the origins of the Chaos Emeralds in Frontiers. But everything isn't explained how the Echidna's got their hands on the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald. Keep in mind that the Light Gaia (the big Colossus) in Unleashed had like Shrine that are also powered by the Chaos Emeralds in mind. And Light Gaia and Dark Gaia exists way longer before the Echidna did.
Movie is in its own canon though seperate from Frontiers
