You've tested all the amateur sample managers. But not the pro level sample managers. Soundminer, Soundly, Basehead, SoundQ, Iced Audio Audio Finder.....

great video, i'm sure one of them doesn't analyse sample over a minute long and another one i heard will only give you a maximum amount of samples say 250,000 i will try to find the page where i heard someone talking about this...

There’s also Atlas 2, similar to XO

Great content, but interesting that you didn't cover Atlas2. 👍

In Sononym, you can select a range of audio and drag it out to a folder to create a 'cropped' sample. So there is some very mild audio editing functionality using that method.

You have skipped Kicks Pro sample manager. It's super fast and native for Mac os users with strong focus on clutter free interface

If you want to use cosmos in your DAW YOU NEED CR8 to launch it

Thx for the overview. I think I will choose Sononym then it's Linux nativ. XO seems very cool too but in my opinion Atlas should a better choice for Linux users. I know its possible to work with Wine and Yabridge but when you have the possibility to go with Linux nativ Plugins, I think it's less stressful to go with that. :)

Nice video! I am starting to use Cosmos and it's very nice. Integrated to CR8 so no big problems for me to reach the samples. Even not using CR8 you can just drag the sample from another screen pretty easy. The AI is not perfect but very accurate.

i guess its ADSR for now to try to organize 2gb of generated audio from my own music... i want to find something that can pick up key bpm and integrate into my daw... ive been using my ears and just sampling but this is nuts... its getting overwhelming.. ive used atlas by algonaught which is similar to xo but still need my ear... eh onwards we go ty..

XO kinda drives me insane, its not as easy as they market it to be, and it doesnt quite work as fluidly as i thought it would, i hoped id just drag my mouse and it would instantly reset the sample? maybe that can be adjusted, but what cannot be adjusted is addressing Pad Assignment for hardware controller for use with fingerdrumming... Which for a drum pad sample player is an outrageous- unforgivable -sin. lol (Again, i leave room for me being incorrect... i would be pleasantly suprised)

XO seems like overkill. In Bitwig we can easily preview samples as part of a drum pattern. It's not necessary to recreate all that as a plug-in

I'm using atlas which does automatic sample tagging and only uses file and directory names as hints (which you cant finetune the relevance of). I have 1000 congas/djembes identified as 'clave', 'snare' or 'hi hat'.. Likewise there is a ton of vocal shots which go as 'Kick'. I recently added a hi hat only sample package and suddenly I had lots of new 'cowbells'. So my point is incomplete but proper tagging is better than automatic but misleading tagging.

Thanks for the info, I'm just now looking for a sample manager. I'm trying Cosmos now and the bad thing is that it doesn't work when ASIO is enabled in DAW. But the good thing is that it works with WASAPI. Is there a tool to analyze loop/shot/sample samples on a PC, or just samples from the cloud?

I used Samplism on Mac (license version). It was very intuitive, easy and beautiful app. Now I'm back on Windows since a while and I use almost ADSR Sample Manager. Very similar...and totally free.

I think that it is Mac-only, but Samplism from Audio Helper Project is pretty amazing. I prefer it to everything reviewed here.

Im sorry but what you said about "Cosmos" is not true. It is ofcourse DAW integrated. At least the coresponding sampler "CR8" from Waves is. It is a feature rich sampler plugin thats capable of everything you could whish for. There is a "browse" button which will open up "Cosmos" for you to pick a sample. (Although I have to admit that the sampler should have been called "Cosmos", like the manager.)

I've used Cosmos for a while on Mac. It worked pretty well, but like all Waves products, you pay $29 then Waves keeps asking for more money every year to keep your license up to date, without giving you any new features for that money. I have now moved to ADSR Sample Manager, which is free and seems to work well, except it lacks AI-based tagging.

You didn't test even remotely every sample manager. What about explorer?
