@@WildGreenJohanna Hi Johanna, I just "discovered" your channel & good stuff. If you ever choose to come over to the Western MA. area, some place yoy might like for overnights / bushcrafting I can suggest. 1- Lake Tulley out in Royalston MA.. ( this's a bit past Orange MA. center) This has islands that, if you bring a kayak ( no normal motor boats allowed so, kayak or something with an electric trolling motor is ok, just no gas powered something) You can pull up on & explore. I gave some some joke names like, the biggest one I call "Ant Island" where, at the top, during the warmer months, you get biting ants up there so be careful! If you go, you may discover my ex GF's pair of Ray-Ban she lost there that we think the ants are using for weird solar tech!) I think there's 6 or 7 out on the lake & you can see a cool waterfall not far away if you walk a certain trail. 2- This's a State Forest that's made for tents camping, but, with Covid, may be closed off (?) anyway, that's Laurel Lake & is part of Erving MA. State Forest. If you go, try to get spot 17 which's really nice & had a friendly field mouse living in a hollow tree the last time I was up there. If you're not afraid of mice, It's a cute animal who will sort of beg for food & people have fed it. Only possible problem is this area is Black Bear country but I never saw one & It's official opening time is from early Spring up until Labor day. They may not want you bushcrafting too much but It's still a cool spot. 3- up the road from # 1 is as nother tent styled more than tow camper styled place called Lake Dennison, a cool place again for mellow kayaking where there's no white water to speak of. 4- Another State Forest idea but is out in Wendell MA.& is called Ruggles Pond. Not sure what It's like to camp there except its really woodsy & there is a population of coyotes that sometimes go through, so again, be careful. This seems to be set up for tow along camper set ups but you could do tents & possibly small bushcrafting to a point. Lake Tulley you can find UA-cam stuff for, the others maybe if you look for them too.
I was taken in by the peace and serenity of the location as well as your most determined efforts and reward of making that fork. Hats off to you Ms Johanna, made this old man proud, and I am not even your father.
@@WildGreenJohanna I know your papa would be very proud of you. I have raised two daughters, the youngest, Joanna is my mountain girl. I’m sitting here in Texas mesmerized by watching a lady half a world away make a fork. Stunning video, please keep it up. Some of the most beautiful and relaxing art I have ever seen.
It's great that this comment section contains so many different languages. People all over the world can enjoy the same music, enter helpful comments and improve their day while also uplifting others.
I watch it whenever I'm sad or full of anxiety and it calms me, never seen a better video on rain and bushcraft, and I also wonder how you keep your self so calm and organised and blend in with nature perfectly
True, it is being filmed ; but SHE is not acting a part. SHE is living her life...oh solitary soul , I pray that the path you choose will lead you to a sunlit Glade and cheer your weary ❤️, giving hope and rest to the spirit within..☕🍯🥛 Good Evening.
Johanna, I woke up this morning not feeling very well-hoping it’s just Springtime 2021 allergies which would be worth it watching the flowers start to bloom & the trees begin to bud. I noticed your hearts under my comments & I’m glad I could return a bit of the love you show for all of us w/these videos that take your caring time, energy, dedication, & talent. I looked again at the views of you walking into the forest through the fields amidst the gorgeous mountains & the closing minutes with the eagle or was it a hawk, the Rumi quote, unique wispy cloud formation, golden sun, multiple birds in flight, & you walking out of the woods through the field. I began to cry. The Rumi quote sums up why. “Be a lamp, or a lifeboat, or a ladder. Help someone’s soul heal. Walk out of your house like a shepherd.” These tears I’m crying are in #Gratitude to you for helping heal my soul in a way it’s never been healed. I’m a nature lover first & foremost, a mountain woman, and I consider Mother Earth our greatest gift who deserves our utmost respect. Because of the debilitating physical limitations of my body & also my husband’s we need to be near the grounds of our excellent local hospital frequently throughout the week. On weekends we’d have to compete with tourists to access & achieve the lovely solitude in the relatively nearby mountains (about 1 1/2 hours away). I know a couple quiet & secluded mountain campgrounds. We’d need one of those which fortunately are near one of my favorite rivers that can be accessed by a relatively flat trail (I use a wheelchair so need that type of trail). I don’t mean to trouble you with all of our problems but please know it means so much to both of us to cuddle up & imagine ourselves in your situations. In many ways, your videos give us the tranquility we can only imagine right now. We have other obstacles to overcome to do some very slight version of what you’re doing but oh what happiness it’d bring us. Until we can hopefully overcome these obstacles (we’re taking steps to do so), we want to thank you so very much for the gift of you. Have a wonderful week & weekend dear, caring woman.💙💫🌀~Marirose PS Re: Rumi Do you use Coleman Barks’ translations of his works?? Many people do but I love the translations you quote & want to invest in a Rumi book. Could you tell me the titles/translators of one or two of your favorites? I have lots of delightful poetry books but need to add Rumi & Pablo Neruda. Apologies for such a long comment. Hope you get to see, read, & answer Rumi question.
My dear Marirose, the Rumi books I have are in Romanian. For adding quotations in English I used what I could find online. So I cannot give you a good piece of advice about the available English translations. But I am sure you will manage, and choose the best - your comments are those of a very smart and sensitive person. I pray you will be well and healthy soon and enjoy nature as often as you can, and may God fill your heart with joy and peace each and every day. The difficulties you are going thruogh only made your souls kinder and more beautiful. That is a real blessing. Warm hugs and much love! God bless you!
@@WildGreenJohanna You are a dear love. I appreciate your beautiful words here. I was thinking earlier about one of the things you do in your vids. It’s simply the act of twisting the cap on and off your water canister. Even that strikes me as peaceful & meditative. You are truly a wonder. As for Rumi I’ll get his best collected poems translated by Coleman Barks. That gentleman seems to be the one who translates Rumi the best into English. Thnx for having the vote of confidence in my choosing the correct book. Hugs, ~Marirose
Hello Johanna! Not only do I thank u for this awesome, serene video, but for also showing me how u made the fork, using the log to brace it is genius! I hiked 460 miles on the Appalachian Trail, Maine to Massachusetts, there is where I learned that Mother Nature humbles no one, she deserves appreciation and respect at all times. My heart, soul and mind are soothed and free with/by her. The meal sure looked tasty, I watched for the ingredients but didn’t see them. Thank u for this wonderful video!
My kind of camping weather...I like the challenge of keeping dry, making a fire when everything is wet and keeping it going, along with cooking a meal in those conditions...I would have had a great time in that situation....
You say thank you for watching. I say thank you so much for posting! Your films and photography is so beautiful! Your time spent in nature is very simple and natural. All you do is filled with "zen", beauty, simplicity and honesty. Again, please accept my thankfulness.
Why is it so deep within our human spirits to yearn for the wild and this affinity we have with surviving among nature? To me it is a pilgrimage that is within our very dna. A familiarity with this self reliance and the deep sense of satisfaction and perhaps the solitude of nature calls us to herself. I used the word pilgrimage because our forefathers a long time ago were Nomadic and lived just like this and we all know deep down that our current society is not what we were made for. We were made to be at one with nature that God made for us to enjoy and understand him better. That’s my belief for what it’s worth. Your video has touched a place deep within me, seeing you walk through the Forrest and the mountains and hearing the brook and the howling wind and the thunder. It fills me with wonder. First the wind through the trees and secondly the rain upon the leaves, thirdly the thunder rolling through the air and lastly the song of the brook that takes me there ☺️😉
The quote by Rumi could not have been more appropriate. I thank you for helping me escape to the time of my youth. The memories of the smells, the sound of the rain are like a soothing to my soul. Bless you Johanna 🙏♥
