Welcome to our first look and first-ride review of the latest entrant in the EV two-wheeler space: the BGauss RUV 350! This electric scooter is designed to blend the comfort of a scooter with the ruggedness of a motorcycle, creating a unique riding experience.
Performance Insights
One of the standout features of the BGauss RUV 350 is its innovative motor. It combines the benefits of a hub and conventional motor, resulting in higher efficiency due to the absence of a belt drive.
However, with a 3.5 kW motor, its acceleration (0 to 40 km/h in nearly 6 seconds) feels underwhelming even in sport mode. It offers three riding modes: Eco, Ride, and Sport, with a top speed of 75 km/h. While the top speed is commendable, the overall performance could use a boost.
Handling and Braking
The BGauss electric scooter’s handling is impressive, especially around corners, thanks to its 68-inch wheels. However, the braking system, featuring drum brakes, seems outdated for a premium electric scooter.
Battery and Charging
Equipped with a 3 kW fixed battery, the BGauss offers three charging options: a 500W standard charger (7-hour charge), an 800W charger (4-hour charge), and a 1350W fast charger (2.5-hour charge). The charging slot is conveniently located under the seat, ensuring safety and ease of use.
Ergonomics and Styling
With a seat height of 785 mm and ample footboard space, the BGauss RUV 350 provides a comfortable ride. The metal body panels and 16-inch wheels give it a distinctive look reminiscent of popular step-through scooters. Features include a 5-inch TFT screen with connected features, hill hold, reverse mode, and document storage.
Final Thoughts
The electric bike BGauss RUV 350 stands out with its unique styling, solid handling, and useful features. However, its performance and quality levels must improve as it transitions from pre-production to market-ready. Pricing will be crucial, and if set between ₹1 lakh to ₹1.2 lakh, it could be a strong contender in the electric scooter market.
