Z690 formula has marvel 10gbE whereas the z790 version has realtek’s 5GbE. So a bit of a downgrade. But other than that it is beautiful. Still thunderbolt with a newer nvm (42.3) and less bugs than the prior (36). Also z790 formula posts faster than the z690 version.
@@216edwin the further the router is from your pc, and/or the more obstructions or floors in the way, the worse the throughput. Also, WiFi 7 is a gimmick for now as it is not yet final, and windows doesn’t yet support the MLO feature of WiFi 7. As far as I can tell windows doesn’t even yet support 320 MHz channels and will not negotiate a PHY rate more than 2.4 Gbps. Also, Ethernet performs much better than WiFi per my experience I would prefer Ethernet if it is available. The aquantia chip gets a solid 9.8 Gbps (jumbo frame enabled).
Gonna be building an all white pc with around a $6,000 budget, happy the formula came out as I was gonna get a dark hero for the 14900k, but now that the formula is out just gonna get this one, gonna be worth it lol, would the HYTE Y70 fit with this motherboard? Thinking of that case or the NZXT H9 Elite.
Did they actually make this with a copper waterblock this time? Last time they "forgot" to say that the block was aluminum and ended up corroding a lot of peoples systems, including mine. They ended up buying back the board.
What USB port should I plug my keyboard and what one for the mouse? I ask because the system will not see the keyboard till it's in Windows and so it will not notice me using the delete key to get in the BIOS.... Thank you.
Does this still use dissimilar metals in the vrm cooling solution as with the Z690 ,as copper and aluminium still don't play nicely together on the same cooling loop .

I own the z690 version of this board and it is a nightmare. The VRM block was corroded after about a month of regular coolant. I cracked it open and cleaned out the corrosion. Then i switched to mixed metal coolant which is very messy. The bios is buggy, the RAM and CPU AI overclocking causes bsods no matter what I do (even manual oc didn't work), and it is unreliable. I would avoid this board at all costs. I was very disappointed with the performance of the z690 $800 board. I am going to try ASRock's Aqua monoblock board to replace my dying Formula. I lost one of the ARGB headers and there are random graphical and boot issues that go away on a restart. I feel like the board is just not reliable and is going to fail sooner than later. Skip this board. I don't trust Asus after the z690 Formula debacle.
Not to be unkind. This review is similar to asking a car salesman, sorry, that should be a salesperson, to demonstrate a certain car feature. You are informed the dealership doesn't have a car with that feature on the lot, but the salesperson will tell you how that feature works. This should be a two-part video. Part two is where we see the MB in actual use.

If i were you i would buy gigabyte, i had 3 asus products so far and they all failed and i had to send them out for a repair i will never ever buy any asus product

With wifi 7 you don't need 10gb when wifi 7 will give u up to 40 gb

The z690 is the slowest posting board I have ever had. It was really sad that it was "high performance" but took 3-5 minutes to boot.

bought an z790 Formula and sended it back , poorly assembled causes bending around the mainboard
