  • Here I present you nine suggested Hotels and Vacation Rentals in the Sosua / Cabarete area, as by booking into small to medium sized establishment, usually helps travelers achieve a much more interesting and fulfilling vacation, than achieved when booking into the larger and more remote all-inclusive resorts.
    In this video you'll find a nice mix of everything from your centrally located type of hotel, to condo complexes and gated villa communities with semi rural surroundings.
    You will also be able to obtain a full view of the hotels room quality, types, prices, amenities and the contact details .
    As I take you around to see these places by motorbike, you'll also get to experience a lot of the scenery along this little journey - enjoy! Brgds Mr.T

    You are now an outstanding professional film maker Mr. T
    Your videos provide great information on the DR. Thanks! Do you ever think of visiting another caribbean island or latin american country? That would really grow your channel doing video work.

    Just made my first trip to the Dominican Republic from the United States. Stayed in Cabarete for 12 nights. I really wish I had seen your videos prior to my trip. So insightful and straight forward. I'm back in the cold weather missing this area everyday. Please keep the videos coming!

    I was in the DR in March and again in June. stayed at Piergiorgio hotel. It was very nice and clean. Unfortunately a family member of mine worked there and never got paid their salary along with others. Consequently a lot of people quit. It's a beautiful hotel, but thats bc of the employees who clean, cook and help guest. they don't treat employees right, I'll never go there again. also ate a Captain Bailee, food and service was great.

    Hey Mr.T I spoke with you in August on Sosua beach. I'll be going back in early March. My question is if you're coming from the airport of Puerto Plata what in your opinion is the best way to get to Sosua from there?

    • @EducatedTraveler
      @EducatedTraveler  7 років тому +5

      Hi Jay! As there are no airport shuttle's then it's either take a taxi (I suggest using Angelo from speedyrodriguez.com - advert seen in this video ) or if you rent a car, they'll pick you up from the
      airport in the vehicle (I suggest using www.ok-motors.com/en/ ) or walk 300 meters to highway and take a "Taxi publico" or "Guagua" - cost to Sosua shouldn't be more than RD100,- with baggage - Hope that is helpful - see you over here! Brgds Mr.T

    Hey Mr. T,
    Richard here, both the wife and I are planning to stay in Sosua and have a few questions.
    Are there any easy ways that are affordable to travel from Santo Domingo to our hotel in Sosua? We are considering the Metro bus because it stopped in our area.
    Also, what are trustworthy banks or ATMs in Sosua where I may draw from my American bank account and convert to Dominican Pesos in or near Sosua?
    How much Dominican money should I bring with me to begin with?
    Thanks, Rich

    • @EducatedTraveler
      @EducatedTraveler  7 років тому

      Hi Richard! yes the Metro bus is the way to go. Avoid Caribe Tours, as the drivers keep it like a freezer inside, have the music volume unbearably high and they drive like crazy, taking stupid risks. Trust worthy ATM's can be found at Banco Santa Cruz, Banco Leon, Playero and Banco Popular. Change max. $50 at airport and then maybe draw $200 at a time as you need it. Hope that helps.
      Happy travels and see you down here! Brgds Mr.T

    Hotel Europa or hotel New garden for my first visit with one is best?

    • @EducatedTraveler

      Hi Darryl, thanks for watching! Roughly about the same, however Plaza Europa might be a bit more quiet.

    Mr T,
    Rich again.
    Is Sosua like Mexico where I must have single dollar bills ($US) for tips?
    Hear from you again!
    Rich

    • @EducatedTraveler
      @EducatedTraveler  7 років тому +2

      Most tourists pay far too much in tips. Pay all tips in Pesos if possible - reasonable tips:
      * Gas station attendant + grocery clerk pay 5-15 pesos
      * Waiter/waitress with bad attitude - no tip!
      * Waiter/waitress with ok to good attitude 50 - 100 pesos
      * Beggars who are fully able, don't pay tips, as they have made it a sport rather than trying to be productive in life
      * Beggars who are missing limbs, very old or disabled - 50 -100 pesos (if you feel good about it)
      * Hustlers, prostitutes or Sanky Panky's pushing for drinks, food, cigarettes etc... tell them "you buy the 1st one, then I'll get the second one" - if they still push, then say - "Soy povre Gringo - no gracias!" and politely wave index finger to show you're not falling for their hustle.
      If it saves you money, then feel free to shout me a beer when you see me :) Happy travels!
      Brgds Mr.T

      Don't be a stranger on December 14 or you can just pop by the hotel plaza europa. May not be a great place, but we could meet there.
      The wife found lots of interest in your you tube videos.
      Talk to you there!
