  • A customer brought in an Echo CS680 chainsaw complaining that it wouldn't start. It was diagnosed as needing an ignition module but this coil is a little different than most. #smallenginerepair

    CS 680 is my favorite saw. I really like the manual oiler option to add extra bar oil to the chain.

    Hello there brother , i know i did exactly like you , then i couldnt get my air gap guage cardstock back out ,all i could think off and i didnt do it was to take off the plastic fan off the flywheel witch involves upsetting the starter pawls and i seen bad things happening to happen after that so i didnt do it . To set the airgap im refering too. Rockon brother love the vidios. You make cause you keep it real. . hellyeah

    Thanks Scott! After watching and learning I feel like firing up my Echo CS490. It's a good saw, just lacks a better antivibe setup.

    For the 670/680 you dont take the flywheel off, instead remove the starter pawls and lift off the nylon fan. Replace the module, set the airgap from above. Take care, enjoy the vids.

      Thanks! I knew there had to be a better way but never really gave it much thought till I was editing video. Now I'm hoping a dead 680 will come into the shop.

      There it is rite there , to pull the plastic flywheel. Just was telling that thats was the only way to get thr airgap proper . Otherwise , goodluck eyeballing cause you cant do it accurrate otherwise . I admire your knowledge and thank you . All should listen to your advice here . All ....

    I Use 2 Pieces of Microfiche Stacked Together and Trimmed to Gap The Coil on These More Flexible Than a Feeler Gauge 😀😎👍🏼

      I haven't heard anyone use the term microfiche in a couple decades. I know we threw all those away.

    "Oil" to lube the rubber? Tire lube or soapy water or silicone spray I have used. Never tried oil, is it 2 cycle oil, motor oil other?
    I have never seen a coil shaped like that, what were they thinking???

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  Рік тому

      "Fluid Film" is a lanolin based lubricant. I've never had any problems using it on rubber although the company states it should only be used on oil resistant rubber. I hope they are just covering their butt.

      No chainsaws were harmed in the filming of this video. Its all theatrics. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
