This time, I made a bag using a $1 IKEA basket. I felt a bit overwhelmed since there are many talented individuals creating amazing works with this bag. In the video, I shared the process of making the bag and my style in creating a personalized image board. The bag can be conveniently used for shopping or travel as an IKEA messenger bag. I love the whole video and the end with the little boat. About the hand vs machine stitching: i'm of the thinking that both have their own advantages, I prefer using the machine when i need to sew a lot of stuff and there's nothing complicated that requires a lot of detail. And I think hand sewing is better in detailed stuff because that way you can choose exactly where the thread goes and ataches. If i had to hand sew everything, all my pieces would take a really long time and at the end there would be less quality because hand sewing takes a lot of energy and i would end up being inconsistent in hopes of working faster

I agree with you about machine vs hand sewing. The sewing machine was invented for a reason, but it can’t do everything. There’s a time and place for both. Beautiful bag as always💜💜

I have made bags from coats, dresses, neckties, curtains and recently from an old quilted jacket. All of these items would have been used for special occasions but were no longer fit for purpose so it’s my way of keeping the memories alive. No one knows that I physically carry my memories around; to the grocery shop, to the beach, walking and sitting in the park but they do feel the energy from them. More often than not, while I’m out and about someone will admire the bag I’m carrying. I would love to own one of your bags Hans. Where can I purchase?
I just love watching you create. I have a HUGE collection of shopping bags from brands that don't even exist anymore. I want so much to try making them into the totes like I've seen you do.

This is such an awesome and refreshing upcycle of the original bag! There's so much thought and attention to detail, looking into the history and culture around the classic version to pay respects without being constricted. I know I personally am not able to afford such a bag, but it's definitely worth every cent of labor.

가방은 아니지만 소품 만들 때 세심 한 건 손바늘질 하고 대부분 미싱질 하는데 일반 미싱질 할 때 쓰는 실 말고 퀼팅실로 미싱질 하면 오히려 미싱질이 더 튼튼 한거 같아요. 물론 실 값이 많이 들지만...
honestly i'm glad you kept the wrinkles. it's almost part of the IKEA bag identity. i wish you also used the straps of the IKEA bag or at least the label (maybe make a tag charm) but probably it would make it too obvious. but in the end you still produced a beautiful product. ❤❤
Hello from Quebec! Beautiful work! When the bag was inside out, you can cut tiny cuts all along the curved edges, the corners…….they will lie flatter when you turn right side out

Love this idea of coffee carrier. Great idea to use your XTool P2, just need to use masking tape to prevent charring. I've used my Xtool S1 10W once for leather cutting, need to let the smell go away after a few days, even with dust/smoke extractor.

가방끈이 가죽이 아니어서 살짝 아쉬웠는데 실제로 어깨에 메신걸 보니 캐주얼 해보여서 더 이쁘네요. 역시 큰그림 ㅎㅎㅎ
stitching: you use the tool you need to make the things you need. your hands also are tools, and they are the better option only in particular situations. it's like golf. if you need an iron-5, that's not the place for a wood-1.
hand stitching is better in little and curvy places. here you cannot use the machine.
machine stitching is the better option when you have long and strait lines.
if you have time and energy, you can do everything by hand. if you need to calm your mind and keep your hand busy because of stormy thoughts, hand stitching is soothing too.

Oh, I'm INFJ too! I like to think worrying about everything is my superpower but it does get in the way some times.
I really love the colors of this bag. I think this is a much more useful design than the original. More sturdy, and a more reasonable size.

I sew. Most of what I make is by hand simply because I do most of my sewing while I work my day job and a sewing machine just doesn't work in that situation. However, I'm a firm believer that sewing machines are awesome and if you have access and ability, go for it. Anyone that thinks things should only be handsewn has probably never worked with leather or 6 layers of twill by hand. As always, BEAUTIFUL work!
