The fandom is just full of toxic people who either hate everything about it or overhype it too much only to get disappointed. The series has its ups and downs but it’s in no way bad

From what I managed to figure out from the people I encountered it’s either because people are trying to get attention through hating on a popular series like MHA or people who don’t like core aspects of the series in general or people who already had a predetermined mindset for how they wanted the story to go and as soon as the story went a different route they automatically assumed it’s bad without even bothering to see what’s going on and there are those who just hate the fandom as a whole

It's mostly being mischaracterized by people who barely pay attention to the story. Like how people in the past miss the point what naruto was about "naruto is about the underdog overcoming his circumstances to be great" which that is partially true but that's not the core theme of the series. Same thing with MHA, I'm starting to hear people say Deku should've been quirkless become some sort of batman character without powers to prove you could be a hero despite your circumstances which yes that is one of the themes of the series but overall theme what it takes to be a hero or what means to be a hero. Deku is always dealing with the dilemma of that theme throughout the series. learning to have courage and stand for yourself and others. perseverance despite how difficult the situation, learning to relied or have faith in others, never compromise in the face of evil and adversity, and lastly becoming a symbol of hope for others to be inspired to better and GO BEYOND!

Even with those themes you named batman deku could still go harder, not only would he encapsulate the anyone can be a hero theme. Your would have way more courage to save and fight people that have powers when you dont, and dont get me started on how a quirkless deku would have to persevere. You dont have to rely on other as much when you have the strongest quirk vs no quirk. And instead of just some hero with a really strong quirk, what could be a better symbol of hope and inspiration to go beyond then a #1 quirkless hero.
Everything you stated about what it takes or means to be a hero could've been portrayed better and had more meaning with a quirkless hero, instead of a hero learning to use the strongest power his planet has.
Naruto has certain stuff that completely retcon or ignore the underdog theme ( Like the fact their reincarnations of gods) But Mha points to that shi even at the end. From what they've shown you give someone with batman intelligence a iron man suit or hella gadgets , they are easily thriving as a hero, maybe even top 10,(We got examples like toga and aisawa, or even the mech suit all might used), u give quirkless deku some plot armor like regular deku be getting, and thats easily potential for #1.

@@gelatogremlin that's not the story Hirokoshi wanted to tell. He could easily tell a story about a quirkless kid becoming a hero but he didn't want to go that route and knowing what it carry a burden and responsibility to become that new symbol of peace. Knowing shounen jump being keen on power scaling in a supernatural series and the power suits being easily outclassed with certain parts in the series that established but like I said the original series already has the elements that anyone could be a hero regardless of their background

    • @gelatogremlin
      @gelatogremlin 2 місяці тому

But thats the thing he literally did want to tell that story and LITERALLY started his story like that. The only thing that stopped him from making deku quirkless was his editors. The Pilot chapter is a quirkless deku named jack. My point is yall act people wanting a quirkless deku is impossible or "Mischaractization" when that's literally the original theme of the character and has been massively shown could be possible throughout the series. Im sorry but no one can tell me the story in this fashion wouldnt work, when the author himself had every intention to model it in this fashion.

    • @milliondoller06
      @milliondoller06 2 місяці тому +1

@@gelatogremlin Hirokoshi even literally said he could've made deku quirkless but he thought it would of been difficult to write a quirkless person to fight a overpowered villian. Now, he could've introduced a some powerful plot device that could've somehow be on par with certain heroes even though he introduce a powersuit in the final arcs of the story and it didn't matter in the grand scheme of things because it had it's own limitations wasn't match for certain villians.
The quirkless deku wasn't the main point of the character it may been original structure like what the character is but isn't the main point of the character what author was trying to get across, but what it means to be a hero despite circumstances you have the ability to push through regardless of background and abilities you are willing to do good as a hero

MHA isn’t bad but its fan base is annoying and they overhype the series. Like if they said stuff like “it uses many Shonen tropes, but it comes across endearing and the fights are cool” instead of acting like it’s peak anime, I’d 100% think better of the series overall. Its needlessly compared to GOATs when it’s only better than average. Its really only hated because the hype doesn’t match the product

  • @d3zmoney

I love MHA but I think I love it less than I used to because I was really into the idea of Deku's journey of going from quirkless to handling the world's strongest quirk. Once they introduced the other holders, it lost the sense of a climb to mastery for me. Now it's closer to a straightforward superhero saving the day. Still good, but I don't feel myself rooting for him like I used to.

    • @MetaGiga
      @MetaGiga 3 місяці тому +2

Agreed. There was also a ton of potential with Shinsou, but he was brushed to the side. I used to really like MHA (favorite character was Present Mic!), but... When Deku started getting all these Quirks from the previous OFA holders, it felt like it became: “What CAN’T he do?”
Of course his classmates can’t keep up with him. He has too much to not succeed, his Quirk was given to him by the best of the best, and he has a class worth’s of Quirks to surpass anyone. The moment he yelled that to the rest of the class was the moment I just... Checked out

its just a bunch of kids crying about the little things bc they get too attatched to the characters and get lost in the story. But realistically its a fun, cool, and interesting anime. Give it a watch bc its all about personal preference at the end of the day.

If u could pin this comment. That would greatly appreciated.
This whole comment is just to explain all the hate on MHA.
    Going through 3 things.
    1.The Deku Hate
    2.The Fandom
    3.The Story.
Starting off with the deku hate.
    “Deku is a crybaby”
i rewatched every episode of season 1 he cried 17 times
He mostly cried in the first episode
Most episodes he didnt even cry at all
He mostly cried multiple times in the same episode
Plus some of his crying scenes were just little gag scenes
Also he has plenty of good reasons to cry
Imagine being a quirkless child in a world where 80% of people have a superpower and the other 20% dont
And your one of them people in the 20%
And your dream is to become and a hero and save people and become like your idol.
But you cant because you dont have a quirk.
Then people non stop bully you at school.
    Call you Quirkless, Powerless, Useless.
And they keep on telling you to kill yourself.
Im pretty sure thats a good reason to cry.
And ofc you would cry when you or your friends almost die.
Plus in season 1 deku broke his bones when he used to use his power.
Is it not normal to cry when your break both your legs and both your arms?
    Like for fuck sake
Shut up about the deku hate.
Its been going on for too long and its just so dumb and idiotic.
    And for the fandom.
Mhas fandom is the same like any other fandom out there.
Your telling me that NO other anime fandom has Gay shippers, toxic fans and cringy cosplayers?
We all forgetting Naruto x Sasuke? L x Light? Goku x vegeta?
And dont get me started with “but mha ships children and children together and even younger children 🤓”
    Cool.
Let me introduce you to “Pan X Gohan” yes thats a official ship that a disgusting person has made.
There are “the promised neverland”ships which 99% of the characters are literally children. “Anya x yor” dude. Denji is like 16-17 and he had sex with himeno. Who is literally 20-25 years old. And there are PLENTY of animes with children that get sexualised or shipped with the fanbase. Gabi from aot. Who is literally 11-14 years old gets sexualised and shipped with.
Its fucking disgusting. I know that u guys hate gabi but what the fuck.
    Like come on.
ITS LITERALLY JUST THE FACT THAT
PEOPLE ARE HATING ON MHA JUST BECAUSE ITS A NEW GEN ANIME!
The fans are not even that toxic as well.
And these people on the internet who havent seen mha at all will see all these dickheads posting shit about mha and how its so bad and they will stupidly believe them.
If you literally look up on youtube like “mha hater reacts to mha” you will notice that they will say tons of shit at the beginning of the video and then by the end they would be like “ngl this is so fucking cool, deku looks so fucking badass i need to watch this.”
Some people would refuse to watch mha NO MATTER WHAT because they WANT to hate it.
Also the fandom is VERY easy to ignore. If you cant ignore it your just a stupid disabled dumbass. You cant even ignore a couple of weirdos saying “deku x bakugo is best ship 🤓” Cmon.
I’ve personally had no problems with the mha fandom at all.
Ive been a fan for years and havent encountered anyone bad. Every one ive met is very nice. And im just a normal fan of the series.
    But the point is that.
THE FANDOM DOES NOT EFFECT THE THE ANIME OR MANGA AT ALL
    If it does for you.
    Then your a weak b*tch.
    Anyway.
    The manga is great
The anime is great too they could use a bit of tidying up in some places but other than that its fine
It has great quality, amazing detail and the story isnt that bad. If the story isnt great for you. Thats fine. DONT GO AND FUCKING TALK SHIT ABOUT IT.
If u dont like it thats your opinion. But dont go and talk massive amounts of shit about it keep it to yourself.
Its very clear that its a great manga. It literally has over 100,000,000 copies sold.
It is up there on the same level as one piece. Its literally top 8 or top 6 right now best manga.
The mha hate has gone on the too long. Its literally been going on for like a fucking decade. Its fucking stupid and tiring seeing people still hate on it. But thats the thing.
Old haters of mha have probably gotten tired of it. And they have probably just ignored hating on it now or they have decided to end up watching it but all of that hate from the past is still being shared to people nowadays.
People are way too stubborn. And way too stupid.
People watch the first episode then say the anime is shit. Without a fucking chance.
All im saying is. Dont always believe what people are saying on the internet. And just give it a chance. If u dont like it. Keep watching or reading and maybe you will start enjoying it. If you cant. Your weak minded.
    Peace 💜

I'm surprised you haven't mentioned the fan base once. I feel like MHA is mostly hated because people who haven't watched it have only seen the fan base and how cringe it is. But if you were to ask nearly anyone who has watched it their thoughts on it, excluding the fan base, I bet they'd say they liked or even loved it. Now, obviously, it's not the BEST anime, but it definitely doesn't deserve the hate it gets. The only real problem is the fans who ruin it with the cringe. I have tried to avoid the fan base completely. Because of that, in my opinion, MHA is definitely one of my favourite animes. :)

I can't speak for everyone, but as someone who likes anime but doesn't like MHA I can give you my sincere thoughts. A lot of it comes down to really not liking the two main characters and not having a side character I like enough to carry me through.
First of all, deku. The opening with him as a tiny kid finding out he'd never have powers was great. I teared up. I was invested. And then... He rushes suicidally into a dangerous situation and gets rewarded with power. Imagine there's a hostage situation in real life. Tense, lives are on the line, swat team has a building surrounded, hostages inside, it's a powder keg ready to blow. Suddenly, fully paraplegic kid, tiny Stephen Hawking, zooms out into no man's land. He's just decided he's going to take out all of the terrorists on his own so he's driving toward the front door as fast as his motorized scooter will take him. Do you think the news would call him brave? A hero? Or perhaaaps stupid and recklessly endangering the lives of everyone there?
Furthermore if he jumped in the squad car of the highest ranking officer after that and wrestled for the steering wheel should the response be "that was brave of you to almost get yourself, the hostages, and my men killed and still have the energy left to try and kill the two of us while I'm driving. For this bravery I'm going to deus ex you straight from citizen to police chief!" Because that's basically deku's origin story. It feels very unearned, almost like he proved exactly why he SHOULDN'T be in charge of making decisions when lives are on the line and yet he gets rewarded for it. It is intriguing that he has a power that breaks his body though. Limited uses that he has to choose wisely when to meter out or deal with lasting consequences. Or, it would be, if the entire first season wasn't him breaking himself, being deus ex healed, being told he can't keep getting healed, and then the cycle repeating and negating the one cost that's supposed to balance out this insanely powerful-from-the-start protagonist. I just don't get the feeling that deku earned his power, and a protagonist that just gets the best stuff handed to him without needing to earn it is not entertaining to me. I also hate that everyone calls him by what is essentially an insult name. He's either spineless or trying way to hard to instigate something with bakugou by embracing and encouraging that.
Speaking of bakugou, this is an easy one. Any anime character who would unironically use a line like "the way you're existing with that face is really starting to piss me off!" I instantly hate. It's just dumb. I thought things went deeper but apparently deku helped him once as a kid and bakugou instantly had a lifelong one sided hatred of him? That's stupid and unrealistic. Enough to murder my suspension of disbelief that's letting me accept that eating hair transfers powers. Bakugou should have gotten over it by the time the story proper starts.
It's the equivalent of being mad at someone opening your bag of chips for you when you wanted to open it. Sure, a 5 year old might take it personally and be angry the whole day but it's not a big enough front to keep the fire burning for life, especially if the target of your hate isn't fighting back. Bakugou is so absurdly far removed from being relatable that it makes him incomprehensible to me. Unfortunately, with arguably the two main characters both being characters I wish were jettisoned into the sun and no other character rising to fill the void of "character I want to see succeed" it's just not an interesting series to me.

The story promised so much but delivered so little. The very hook of the show was anyone can be a hero despite circumstances. So yes, a Batman esque character. Our own media is full of heroes without powers, so it would've worked.
But then its cancelled out by not only giving the MC a quirk but literally the BEST quirk. New powers isnt character development. Who he is as person from the beginning is the same as he is now. The themes of what it means to be hero is always in question, but also what it means to be a villain.
If you want a better story, read Vigilante, thats what My Hero shouldve been or what Horikoshi really wanted to write.
How our trio was originally Ochako, Izuku, and Tenya. But was quickly shoved aside for Todoroki, Bakugou, and Izuku. There are legitimate problems with this narrative and the problem is so many are not engaging with it. Cuz the fights are cool, the quirks are, cool, and you say run is a certified bop.

Well I get how people see the beginning as problematic the whole batman niché also doesn't exactly resonate with me at all deku even with ofa was at a disadvantage everybody around him had quirks for there entire life meaning deku had to rely on his own quirk understanding and his own training something that is still very enjoyable to watch
And about your point with the trio being ochako, tenya and deku that focus wasn't even developed that much to be even considered allthough it could be that you probably enjoyed their chemistry which is totally ok
