Before my son Bobby died of brain cancer he and i would listen to the Decemberists. This was one of his favorites. Good Memories 💔
Your son Bobby sounded cool, my condolences.
He sounds like a great guy 💙💜
Oh wow, Bobby is my name as well. Sorry about your loss, I bet he was a nice lad

"We Both Go Down Together"
Here on these cliffs of Dover
So high you can't see over
And while your head is spinning
Hold tight, it's just beginning
You come from parents wanton
A childhood rough and rotten
I come from wealth and beauty
Untouched by work or duty
And oh, my love, my love
And oh, my love, my love
We both go down together
I found you, a tattooed tramp
A dirty daugher from the labour cans
I laid you down on the grass of a clearing
You wept but your soul was willing
And oh, my love, my love
And oh, my love, my love
We both go down together
And my parents will never consent to this love
But I hold your hand
Meet me on my vast veranda
My sweet, untouched Miranda
And while the seagulls are crying
We fall but our souls are flying
And oh, my love, my love
And oh, my love, my love
And oh, my love, oh my love
And oh, my love, my love
We both go down together
It kinda remind me of Losing my religion from REM, but it is great, i love this band!
yes, and needles and pins.
And “eat for 2” by 10,000 maniacs
This was the comment i was looking for to see if anyone thought the same.
"We fall but our souls are flying" it gets me every time.
this might be the most beautiful song ever sang
My beloved chipmunk Sergeant Jitters and i used to love to listen to this song together before she died of mesothelioma and is now dead, having passed on to the land of death and the dead, deadly. I can't hear this song without seeing her smile. Rest in power in that great birdfeeder in the sky, Jitters, for you're now dead.
while jumping off the cliffs of dover or other forms of dramatic pact suicide have occurred the message in these songs so often is for the living.
how far is devotion? how much can love be measured?
if your passion is serious enough can it live through utter rejection by those around you? can you die to the world and all its expectations in order to gain each other? can you survive your own expectations of each other.
can you not only die for love, but in all the years that follow can you live for love? can you live for each other?
dude it was a murder suicide, the narrator raped his "love"- "you wept but your soul was willing"
Hard to say. Lots of people cry when overwhelmed by a lot of things. It’s possible that he assumed that it was consensual, and it wasn’t. It’s also possible that they had an emotional moment and he says “her soul was willing” because he asked. There’s not a lot of context either way
@@essimathews9056 I'd say that both interpretations are possible, but given the song is narrated by the wealthy guy her soul being willing is probably his perspective, not fact/her perspective. As you say, he may have gotten some kind of verbal consent, or she just may have been emotionally overwhelmed but none of that is explicitly stated. Ultimately, it's art and I think it's best to stick to whatever interpretation you like best.
That said, I think that Colin has commented before that the narrator is a sociopath so that suggests the murder suicide perspective.
This song is awesome. Great riffs, great vocals and lyrics. Drummer carries a solid beat roo
This is such a wonderfully constructed song. The lyrics are absolutely beautiful and the singing compliments them.
This is quite an interesting tune.
it indeed sounds like Losing My Religion, but I like it very much!
I love this song a lot, but after hearing the live version of this song I wish it was a little faster.
HIIIIIIIIIIII
change the speed to 1.25 :)
Reminds me of “losing my religion “ as far as rhythm wise goes.. I feel like at some parts of the song. It could go right into “losing my religion “, and it would transition perfect
If Last Caress were a love song
What the fuck does this have to do with Losing My Religion? It's like people have only heard a dozen songs in their lives and make absurd connections that don't exist.
Because unless you are an idiot, the resemblance is obvious!
They've never heard of tango music
I'm naming my daughter Miranda

Sounds like losing my religion by rem
Better, though. To me at least.
Ryan Henson possibly, losing my religion is overrated
Have you heard Corning My Religion? It's a great song. 10/10 would recommend.

@@toainsully Jane/Joe Doe are of course phrases used to reference someone who's identity is unknown. they are also used to describe the "average person".
it just seems to me someone making this type of comment has more than one account. they use this one to say things they would not want their main account to be held accountable for saying.
it's not unusual in internet forums, online games, etc.
