Dear Sir, congratulations on this phenomenal video. Your presentation is passionate but refreshingly tempered with calm objectivity. I like very much how you take time to pause and allow us to reflect and also just to admire the beauty of the watch. I too have subbed and look forward to more videos. With thanks.

The only "problem" is that nobody seems to know how to photograph this watch. Its dial not only _looks_ like snow but it also _sparkles_ like freshly fallen snow when viewed in direct sunlight. It's a wonderful effect. This is not easy to reproduce in a typical studio lighting because the sparkling effect requires a very pointlike source (like the Sun which is a small disc in the sky) while standard studio lamps are the exact opposite: large softboxes. That's why so many people say "it looks more like parchment". So to film this watch one needs the smallest possible light source, like a strong, tiny, bare LED or a tungsten lamp with the filament as small as possible. No softboxes, no umbrellas. This is the kind of lighting Hollywood and portrait studios avoid like the plague because it accentuates skin blemishes but here we are talking _snow._

Wonderful video and narration. My collection is mostly Japanese - from simple work horse automatics like a Citizen NY2800 to my benchmark Astron I got when visiting Japan. If I go back there, I’ll most likely pick this up. The Grand Seiko factory in Nagano Prefecture is a true studio with master craftsmen , and the spring drive is a truly unique technology that represents the finest of Japanese watch making .

I think the first 36 seconds of this video is probably the simplest, but most true, way to explain the snowflake.
    "Omega? Speedmaster.
    Audemars Piguet? Royal Oak.
    Rolex? Submariner.
Some watch brands have THE watch, the iconic piece that most people think about when this brand is mentioned. The unofficial flag-ship watch. For Grand Seiko that watch is the Snowflake."
I adore this watch endlessly and I think your video captures it beautifully. Well Done.

Great video! I've watched it a few times now, and even the video doesn't do enough justice to the snowflake. The finishing on this piece is second to none, and on par with with any Swiss made watch, including Rolex and Patek. In some aspects, I think even better. Until you see the perfectly polished and cut indices on the snowy dial of the watch, you just can't understand. I never thought a Japanese watch would come close to the level of the Swiss timepieces, but this one has proven me wrong.

Lovely watch. Somebody mentioned only your jeweller would recognise how much it’s worth! For me that’s a bonus. If you are looking for a watch as a status symbol you need to choose another brand. But if you are looking for a watch with exquisite detailing that can compete way above its price point I can think of no better. Can somebody who knows please tell me the name and details of that brown leather strap as I think it really complements the watch for a more informal look. Thank you.

Wonderful video. What a beautiful and elegant watch if not for the power reserve indicator. It completely throws the symmetry out of balance, and ruins an otherwise perfect dial, IMO. A better placement for the power reserve, IMO, would be the back of the watch, hidden.

FYI, the 211 is an update to the 011; that's why the video shows only the 211. They dropped the familiar "SEIKO" graphic from the face and replaced it with the classic "GS Grand Seiko" graphic to achieve a cleaner look. So just a simple cosmetic change (I think).
