Wowowow I feel like this is perfect for the film. I mean, in no way would I want K/S to be fighting all the time, but ST XI has a lot of violence and dark stuff in it, so it fits the mood of the movie really well. Also, your mixing was AMAZING.

seems to fit into how very young people can be(younger than what these characters are at this point,but the confusion can still be around in some relationships)you're drawn to someone,but you don't quite know if you want to kiss them or smash their face in.Whether you like them intensely,or whether they bring the competitive side out of you is not clear yet,so in these set ups,the two involved aren't sure if they really like or hate each other.

@Mikanojo It's hard for me to swallow that I wouldn't be "a true fan" cause I like how the characters live a second life in the hands of the fans, and don't think that it's something to keep away from the public. I think our main difference is in how we interpretate this particular vid - you feel it's abusive and I can see how that wouldn't fit with the deep friendship that these characters share. I instead am used to differentiate between the canon and the fan world and find it fun.

@Mikanojo In the reboot verse Jim Kirk is a guy whose father died when he was born, his mother was away in space periods of his childhood and his stepfather? (Frank) is possibly abusive. Why would a young boy want to drive a car over a cliff almost killing himself? Later on we find him sleazing in bar and getting into a fight and there definitely was a smile on his face when he was lying bloodied on the table. I'm not saying he is mentally unstable, but he very well could be.
@Mikanojo As for your comment about painting an eagle that looks like a swan, a painting of an eagle is all well and fine, but do artists not like thinking out of the box? It isn't very creative or original to do a standard portrait of an eagle as there are many of those. If the eagle was intended to be an eagle and the artist can explain the technique, thought and emotion that went into the piece

This is not about a woman being beaten by her bf/husband and if you would actually listen to the lyrics and analyze them you would see the glaringly obvious metaphor. I also do not believe the vidder (they can correct me if I'm wrong) intended for this to be a serious SM or abuse vid. The video is light and comical and doesn't seem to take itself seriously.

I have been taught that when the artist publishes their piece, they give it up for interpretation - they can't control how people think and why should they? I have also been taught that every interpretation is as valid as another if you have good enough arguments to back it up. In fiction you don't even have to do that, because you're not trying to prove anything or state a fact or argue this or that about the work. You do it just for fun.

Don't worry Vulcans can have sex at any point not just every seven years, pon farr is just a biological imperative of sex or death. But otherwise sex drive is probably the same as a humans they just control it a bit more. ^_^

If a fan feels that the tension between Kirk and Spock could be sexual, it's blasphemy (anyway, who says rebootKirk couldn't be bisexual? or Spock?) Again, this vid doesn't feel dark and abusive to me, but more like that K&S started out quite violently, and perhaps those mutual violent feelings need a let out that takes sexual overtones.
