Also yes, we have many homonyms in German which can be really frustrating for foreigners 🥺 Here are some well known ones that are good to know: umfahren = to drive around something umfahren = to run over/knock something down Der Weg = the road/ the way weg = to be gone Die Steuer = tax Das Steuer = the wheel 🛞 Der Bienenstich = a sweet bakery 🍰 Der Bienenstich = to be stung by a bee 🐝 („Biene“ means bee) Die Erde = the world 🌎 Die Erde = the ground Die Decke = blanket Die Decke = the ceiling
i learned german for 2 years in 2014 and i forgot mostly everything. i feel so bad. but now that i watched this video, you helped me remember that every word is familiar to me.
Wie viel Uhr ist es? - How much o'clock is it? Es ist 2 Uhr. - It is 2 o'clock? That question is totally fine and normal, but I prefer Wie spät ist es? - literally: How late is it. Or most informal just "Hey, Hana, wie spät?" ^^
THANK YOU for posting another German video!!! I totally get it that you are nervous speaking another language but you are doing such a great job and nobody expects perfection, at least I don’t! 😄👏🏼☺️
Im a native German and Gen Z and even I thought Tschüß can be written both with ss and ß. I know they’re not interchangeable in most cases but for Tschüss as a person from the north I thought the ss and ß would indicate the pace and stressing of the word. Tschüss in Hamburg has a short ü sound and you stress the ss, so I thought whenever you’d wanna indicate you are using the long form stressing the ü, you’d use ß, since whatever vowel comes before an ß is usually a long one 😂 So it’d be tschüsssss and tschüüüüüß 😂
Loving the german language videos! Please keep doing them 🎉 (And fyi in swiss standard german taught in schools in Switzerland you actually don’t even learn to use the ẞ. Just double s all the way, which is nicer imo 😅)
If you are not certain what to use, you can check in the „Duden“ which is the German version of the Cambridge / Oxford dictionary I think. The „ß“ is actually a placeholder for the letters „sz“ and is therefore sharper pronounced than the softer version double s. 😊
"das Mädchen" is a diminutive of "die Maid" which is an ancient word for woman i guess, and isnt really used anymore. if you add -chen to a word it kinda makes the thing smaller, and also turns it into a grammatical neutrum, hence _das_ Mädchen.
i absolutely love the german videos, pleasee keep doing them!! also the ß and the ss used to be interchangeable up until around the year 2000, germany had a spelling revolution (“rechtschreibreform”) that changed the way a bunch of words were spelled and since then it’s technically considered wrong to use the ß in certain cases :) as a german i totally dont care as long as i understand the word, but just in case you care!
You did a great job! For „Mädchen“ try to pronounce the „d“ more, because you actually pronounced „Mädchen“ like „Märchen“ which is another German word! Märchen means fairytale, so that was kinda funny 😂
@@pamelaasmrI think it’s a brilliant idea! Even if you don’t know the languages I believe it would be a fun thing to learn along with you. Maybe you could take a word like „love“ or „peace“ and try to say it in a couple of different languages
Pamela, could you perhaps put a link to the Part 1 video in your description or as a pinned comment? I think it'd be good for traffic to your videos and get people who were going to watch this maybe wind up watching at least two of your videos - especially if the video is something like this where a niche audience might be searching for a series of videos for "How to Learn German"
Great video. When are you going to do the video involving you peeling a big orange without using a knife and using your fingers nails? Sorry for being so pushing
40:04 You are pronouncing Mädchen as Märchen - fairy tale. Mäd-chen. the -chen ending is quite common as it is used for diminutives. Katze . Kätzchen Haus . Häuschen Geschwister . Geschwisterchen (Geschwisti is very cute though ^^)

"Bittesehr" is the same as "Gern geschehen"but you can use "Bitte" as well
