I have to say, it’s been very bittersweet watching these vlogs of your last season every week after having watched your gymnastics videos for over 10 (10!! how insane is that) years. At the same time I’m so happy that you’re doing what you want to do with your life and not let other expectations or other people rule it! It has been absolutely incredible to be able to witness someone the same age as me mature and grow as a person at pretty much the same time as me and I think you’ve taught me a lot about a lot of things. I can’t wait to see more of your music stuff and be along for that journey or whatever you decide to post, or if you decide to post at all in the future! Wishing all the best for you
Thank you for including us on this amazing journey, Whitney!! You are truly an inspiration to many young gymnasts out there! Also, my gym’s home meet is at the BACC! It’s so cool to see you competing there!
Amazing job Whitney! With the feeling of passing out, I would look into POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). That’s a very common symptom of the disorder and it’s a lot more common than people know. Heat is known to make symptoms worse.
Way to go Whitney!! Congrats again!! You never fail to amaze me with your attitude, dedication and perseverance. You have been a true professional for so many years and an awesome inspiration to so many young gymnasts. And now that we find out about even more the struggles you've been going through in your gymnastics career, it's amazing that you persevered for as many years as you did. I couldn't be any prouder of you Whitney. What you've achieved, no matter the setbacks and disappointments, is a huge accomplishment. I hope you are truly happy with all you've achieved and all you've gained from your gymnastics career, and I hope you're proud of yourself, because you certainly should be.👏👏🙌🙌👍👍I can't wait to see where life takes you now and celebrate this next chapter in the life of Whitney Bjerken. Thank you for sharing your gymnastics journey and making a true difference in this mixed up world we live in. 💙💙😁😁🎉🎉
I'll be sad not to see you doing gymnastics again (apart from the Beam routine). I thought your floor routine was great - I especially loved the beautiful illusion turn. Congratulations for persevering through all the lightheadedness and pain - you are amazing.
Great job! Bittersweet too. I've enjoyed watching you for years - living through you for a sport that is in my blood. Thank you and to your whole family for video taping for so many years and showing us your ups and downs. You have persevered through so much. Hopefully we can keep track of you in the future. I know you have a great future ahead!
Thank you Whitney for always inspiring younger me , now I am a level 5 gymnast and you still inspire me. I was so devastated when you released the video of your decision to quit gym but either way; gym or no gym you’re and amazing and bright person, I love listening to your music and I hope all goes well. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow Whit! You did awesome, I've been following your journey forever and the strength and grit you continue to show is super inspiring. Just a thought, that feeling you get in beam might actually be anxiety...I used to think that feeling of being close to fainting was because I wasn't eating right, but it only happened in certain situations (high stress ones), it took me years to realize that was what I was feeling and I can maybe see under all of the pressure and all of the eyes watching, specially when you know beam is your best apparatus (so it has the highest stakes) your anxiety could show as you mentioned, not a therapist but it just resonated.
Just wanted to say I had the same problem with feeling like I was going to pass out at your age. I later figured out it was a physical symptom of anxiety. With medication, therapy and time I was able to almost completely stop the spells but it still comes up sometimes. It’s scary and frustrating but you are not alone!
Just wanted to say that I actually had a dream that you were a gymnastics judge that scored as hard as the old Russian judges did in the 1980's. 😇 Who knows it may come to pass? Keep smiling!
I just wanted to say thank you, I know you since 2014 so for now 9 years… I was 7 when I saw for the first time one of your videos You’ll always be in my good memory’s so thanks a lot for that 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
Really nice meet....congratulations on finishing strong across the board. Who woulda thunk an over-rotated bars dismount would be the sticking point? You've done a fantastic job with this sport and congrats on the wonderful beam routine. And the puppy is awesome!
I’m so sorry about how you felt on beam but it’s amazing still getting a 9.75 even when you feel like your going to pass out. I knew from the beginning of the video that you would make nationals as a beam specialist and I am so excited to watch next weeks vid. Your floor was amazing to and your bars was awesome despite the landing. This was such a awesome last meet and it honestly hurts since I’ve been with you since you were a level 7. Good luck and stay safe Whitney!
Thanks Whit for all of those years ❤ I have been following you for 7 years now and you were my gym motivation for so long, I have retired from gymnastics recently and doing the transition alongside you is great and sad at the same time. To me, you represent my passion for gymnastics and seeing you retire makes my retirement from it even more real. I love you and thank you to the infinite for your videos, your passion and you as a person ❤️
Yaayyyy!! You reached your goal! I am so proud of you and can't wait for next Wednesday! 😊 And you never have to vault again, what a relief! Congrats also to Cilla! 😊
Congratulations on another wonderful beam routine. Seeing your mother doing your hair gave me a flashback moment to that hair tutorial video many years ago. You said you hadn't committed to anywhere but we know you are committed to other creative pursuits. It would not surprise me to see this one day; lyrics by, music by, choreography by, performed by, directed by and edited by, Whitney Bjerken. I could have included guitar, bass and piano. In the words of Pink Floyd, "Shine on you crazy diamond." ♥♦
I have the same problem with heat/humidity and adrenaline it messes with my blood sugar and blood pressure. I am lucky that I live in SoCal and we don't have the horrible humidity but I ended up in the ER when we visited my grandparents in TN when I was around your age because I had a really scary airplane experience when I was younger and I hate flying still to this day. I can't imagine having to be up on a beam and feeling like that - it was bad enough for me on the ground. lol I have pretty much had to rule out living anywhere with high humidity for life on my doctor's advice.
Whitney… thanks so much for your love for gymnastics ❤ I recently sprained my ankle and I was going to quit because of the injury but I realized I’m only about level four to five, and that I’m only 12 so I should keep going, and I found hope to keep going by binge-watching your gymnastics content ❤
You are very inspirational youth lady exampling to others how to stay true to yourself and follow your dreams. Congratulations for all of your accomplishments, and good luck to you in all of your future endeavors. Can’t wait to see what’s next for you. ❤
Love your editing Whit, you did exactly what you wanted to do, congrats , those dogs were adorable, looking forward to last bar routine, great content this series has been .
I can’t imagine the muscle memory you must have to kill that routine feeling like you couldn’t see and might pass out!! I bet the feeling is due to anxiety. I get it too from anxiety. But that is so impressive. I would be so scared to even walk across feeling like passing out!
Whitney, I have enjoyed watching you so much through your gymnastics journey, since you were a little girl. You are a wonderful and beautiful gymnast. I have always been so impressed with your dedication, athleticism, and love the for this sport. I was a gymnast in high school and college, and it was a fun and a great experience...such special memories! I am so proud of you and wish you all the best and much happiness as you begin a new chapter in your life. The best is yet to come! Enjoy, and thanks for sharing! ❤😊🌺 BTW, congrats on making regionals and beam specialist at Nationals! 👏👍
I would love to see you come back to College gymnastics as a beam and uneven bars specialist, cuz you are just awesome on those apparatus. I know it‘s unlikely, but I can dream 🥹😂 You are a talented person and I wish you all the best. No matter what you do.
Thank you Whitney for always showing me that we are all great people and you are such a great person. Thank you for showing me that you have never have to give up and I love you either way if you don’t quit if you do a quick how do you spell love you.
Hi Whitney ... Congratulations on making it to Nationals! You were mentioning that you felt like you were going to pass out every time you stood up. I'm not a gymnast, but have been through the standing up and always feeling like I would pass out. Anywhere. Idk if this might have been the reason, but for me anyway, it was due to anxiety. Not saying that was the reason for you, but it might have been. I wish you the best of luck in everything you decide to do in life!
I was going to say the same. I know it as a psychiatrist but it still scares me when it happens to me! When anxiety hits I try to stop listening to my mind and start talking to myself. Recently anxiety has been hitting in the form of feeling like I could pass out.
As a mom to a mighty mini 6 year old gymnast, I have watched your journey (as has she) for the past 5 years. Honestly, thanks to your honesty about quitting and the quotes I've heard from One in a Million I deleted all of her social media. She had quite a large following on insta and was gaining some traction here. The thing that most resonated with me was the feeling that you couldn't keep up with the image of yourself, that you had to be better and more perfect each time for your viewers. You were always perfect, even when you thought you weren't. It scares me to think that my daughter may feel that .... and while I am so glad I got to witness your journey, as a parent it makes me sad that at times it was so difficult for you. Gymnastics is difficult without everything else! I am glad you have found your passion and the courage to walk your own path ❤

Your 6 yr old watched Whitney 5 yrs ago? 🤣

I've had similar thoughts about Instagram.. We still have it but it's private and we are very selective what ww post now..
@ Yes, with me - she obviously didn't "watch" per se as she was only a year old - but she did enjoy it, yes. 1 year old kids are not completely incapable of watching videos. She loved some of the non-gym videos especially.
Congratulations on the beam. Your bars routine was really quite good. A shame about missing the landing. Look forward to seeing your final beam in the next one.
Zena is so cute She's such a beautiful girl ! Congratulations on your season , Whitney ! Thank you for sharing your final season with us. It's been 2 months is your back that was giving you issues all better now? How about your ankle ? Those ankle injuries can linger even after being done. I hope all is well , Whitney !
Thanks for sharing how you felt on beam. I had a similar thing years ago (without gymnastics). I think the psyche does a lot of things and it is hard to control - it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy phenomenon: if you expect it to happen and are anxious about it, it will happen. Now you can relax and if you experience sth like it again (e.g. on stage), maybe try breathing techniques. Relaxation can do a lot! All the best to you!!
I wonder if Whitney will make a comeback like Simone and Shawn?? that would be awesome to see after a gap year or maybe longer?? congrats on making nationals for beam :) I actually really regret quitting gymnastics
@@Laurap01I quit gymnastics early for dance and then quit that at 16 to go to college for tennis so I don’t know that much about it. But I’ve watched Whitney since she was maybe 8 w coach Ron & her lucky ducks and I always feel bad watching her do bars for that reason. I’m just happy she’s choosing on her own what will make her happy.
You looked like you were enjoying the warm ups and having great fun. I was amused that you staggered abit on the podium. Im not trying to be mean or insulting, just that, It would be the ultimate irony to fall off the 1st position podium in a sport where balance is everything.... Congratz to you for your wonderful gym life And Congratz to Cilla in her comp and her making it to nationals
Congrats on getting beam specialist! Do you feel lightheaded any other times outside of the meets? If not, then it could be nerves/vasovagal response. If you do feel lightheaded in other times, then may want to look into your blood pressure dropping when you stand still.
I know everyone disagrees, but I still think it’s going to be the biggest regret not competing college gym. So many gymnasts who felt the exact same way as Whit went to college gym and fell back in love with the sport. It’s a completely different dynamic. Should have at least done 1 year.
i think going would’ve been a huge regret. I’m sure I would love it but I would be throwing away my other passions. It’s been 2 months since i’ve quit and I’ve never been happier with where I am
It may be the last for now but who knows maybe things can change and you could return to the sport. Regardless I hope things will go well for you in the future.
