Today, we meet Ganesh Balakrishnan, the founder of Flatheads - a company which created a storm on the internet after their episode aired on Season 2 of Shark Tank India. Flatheads is a D2C shoes brand that sells shoes made of sustainable materials like banana Fiber, bamboo etc. In his pitch, Ganesh asked for 75 Lakhs in exchange for 2.5% of the equity in Flatheads. After the pitch, he got an offer of 75 Lakhs for 33% of the company .

Redtape alone ranging from 500-2000 will eat it raw. Don't know how anybody spending 2000-5000 online won't go for Sketchers, Crocs, Nike, Adidas etc with better finish and brand values. If he wants to create a niche for himself in premium footwear segment, he needs to be realistic with his approach. These emotional outburst support by ppl won't last for more than a couple of months.

I would like to tell one thing to the Flatheads from my side that the sharks who won in Shark Tank from Season 1 to Season 2, their companies were running in losses, so if the Flatheads company diluted the equity in Shark Tank and it would be 10% and would get 10 lakhs on a valuation of 2 crores in Shark Tank, then when there was a problem in raising the next round, they would give it on the previous valuation only and the judges of Shark Tank have made a video on this on Deshbhakt Rahul Malodia UA-cam channel on Losses. Rahul Malodia also calls himself a business coach. If anyone goes to Shark Tank, then the owner of that business should dilute his equity wisely.

I don't know if this brand gonna make a comeback or not but personally i have always felt the same way about shoes like Ganesh sir have felt. Being a daily bus traveller or if I'm wearing the shoes for a long time I want my shoes to be breathable and not get rashes. I very much liked the product idea. I haven't used flatheads for the price but personally if the price is little lower like at max 1-2k it can work wonders in the indian market!
