What is a U tube manometer?
Pressure measuring devices using liquid columns in vertical or inclined tubes are called manometers. One of the most common is the water filled u-tube manometer used to measure pressure difference in pitot or orifices located in the airflow in air handling or ventilation system.
What is a mercury U tube manometer used for?
A mercury filled U-tube manometer is used to measure the flowrate of air in a pipe. One leg of the manometer is connected to the upstream side of an orifice plate and the other leg is connected to the downstream side
What is the principle of manometer?
A manometer works on the principle of hydrostatic equilibrium and is used for measuring the pressure (static pressure) exerted by a still liquid or gas. Hydrostatic equilibrium states that the pressure at any point in a fluid at rest is equal, and its value is just the weight of the overlying fluid.
What are the types of manometer?

Where is manometer used?
Another use of manometers is the measurement blood pressure using an air cuff. Low pressure manometers may also be used to measure the flow and pressure in a patient's airways. Manometers have also been used in industrial settings, wind tunnels, and the measurement of atmospheric pressure for weather forecasting.

A manometer is a scientific instrument used to measure gas pressures. Open manometers measure gas pressure relative to atmospheric pressure. A mercury or oil manometer measures gas pressure as the height of a fluid column of mercury or oil that the gas sample supports.
