I don't believe Sarah knew that Casey was THAT CLOSE to ending Chuck's life In episode 1 of the 2nd season. It was a very very very close call for Chuck. What if Casey did do it but survived and Sarah found out after...........Casey and Beckman would be Sarah's target???
That is a very good "what if scenario". The unrealistic part is that Beckman gave Casey the order PRIOR to the new intersect being up and running. I think she would have waited, removed Sarah from the scene via reassignment since Chuck was no longer indispensable - a situation Sarah would have accepted at that time. Then Chuck would have been disposed of or placed in lockdown. The scene was chilling because it showed how callous Beckman and her CIA counterpart (who would die) were. Casey and Sarah were merely skilled pawns to those in charge.
Once Sarah found out, she ran away with Chuck, so there's no possible way she would have let Casey get to him. It was her mission to get him to come with her but she loved him too much to let him die or be taken away.

Casey was the one person who could get by Sarah.
He comes stupid close in the first episode of season 2. They are a team and each other's blind spot.

@@pendragcn after he almost killed him in the first episode of that season, and they didn't last 20 minutes on the run.
It would have been an interesting fight though to see Sarah and Casey fight for Chuck's life.
